Your last.fm listening charts are highly encouraged!

Feel free to drop any recommendations below, no matter the subgenre. I am in the process of compiling a large list of albums and artists, which will then be formatted into updated recommendation charts, so your contributions will be very appreciated.

What have y'all been spinning lately?

That's not George Jones

Brainlet take

it's just different angles

Ass is of secondary importance. What really matters is establishing your oral skills.

Four beautiful ebony girls in my lifetime and none of them stuck around

So sad bros.

I dunno anon. I genuinely don't think anyone on earth would know who Lainey Wilson is if she didn't have that gigantic ass.

Went thrift shopping today, found another obscure album. This one is from 2002. The recording quality is... weird. It sounds like it was recorded through a tin can, and the high frequencies can be a bit jarring. It might do you good to run these through Audacity and add an EQ to filter out those frequencies.

Sonically, it's pretty much exactly what you'd expect from the name. Has some slight bluegrassy sounds in it from my quick skimming of it, but sounds pretty country as well.

These are only MP3 files, as EAC was giving me a hard time, so I used MusicBee to rip it.

She's coming to my town this autumn. The tickets are three-hundred dollars a pop, and her fans are mostly female.

Also, updated OP pastebin if someone happens to post the next thread before I do:

Sorry fucking somehow accidentally posted it without the link.

I've been getting into Jimmie Rogers. If he hadn't had TB, he'd be remembered like Louis Armstrong today.

Continuing from the last thread. Billy is insane and I think the most talented picker in country right now. Let me know what you think of his album, I've been dying to see him live but his shows seem too big now to catch one in a smaller space which is what I prefer. I managed to catch Charley Crockett a few years ago before he blew up big and its one of my favorite concert memories ever, right after Man From Waco dropped.
These guys had an interesting sound, almost reminds me of Josiah and The Bonnevilles or Nathaniel Rateliffe with how it is country instruments with a more indie sound to it. Cool recommendation

A lot of bluegrass elitists say he's not even that good of a picker.

I'm not as deep into the genre as some, so I can't say for certain. All that I know is that his music slaps, and I'm thankful for his service.

Elitists will claim many things. I love pretty much everything he's put out. Highway prayers was such an amazing album, first time a bluegrass album topped the charts since the O Brother Where Art Thou soundtrack. I listen through it regularly. I was surprised it isn't on the chart, but his Live vol. 1 does include more of his cornerstone works while highway prayers isn't all bluegrass. On the topic of someone I've been up on, I wish John R. Miller would release an official version of Red Eyes. I wish he had more songs that hit near as hard as this, I love it youtu.be/AU0bPIFOD2o?si=1lfNn0qxY6JCqh0d

lol

Molly is certainly more sophisticated. She's been playing since she was young as Billy when he started, and is a Berklee alum. Billy only started shoring up his musical education comparably recently. Before then, he learned everything from his step-dad and his on-the-roading.

That said, I still like Billy's music better. He plays with such power and masculinity, and his original songs are gonna go down as American classics.

I've listened to some Molly Tuttle and nothing really scratched my brain right, do you have any recommendations from her stuff?

Jesus Christ. Prices now make me glad I've never been a big concert goer.

molly tuttle

haha bald

:o

country music, japan :O

I had to pass up another chance to see Sturgill Simpson this month. With my luck he'll probably have another depressive meltdown and not tour for 5 more years.

Is his new album really that good?

do you have any recommendations

nta anon but I like her stuff. She is not doing the dudegrass/jam-schtick that Billy is- a little more straight forward but I like that she brings a west coast vibe to the scene. Her voice is nice and she has great players

Yeah, and his current live show is the tits

Down Home Dispensary from that album is a certified banger

I wish I could see him but I'm so broke :(

I got to see him last november and it was such a good show. I didn't fully understand how much the guy loves playing, he doesn't grandstand or make it an act, dude just gets out there and tears it up relentlessly. Highly recommend it. Also his posters are phenomenal, and that album was the perfect summer lineup. Its a departure from country, a lot closer to a psychedelic Jimmy Buffett, but Saint Stu is just too good

Sturgil is the only country guy left I'd like to see and for some reason he never comes here despite me living in buttfucknowhereville

What about his sound do you like, or which of his albums do you gravitate towards? I could try to point you to some other guys who are playing right now. There's a lot of great sound in country right now if you turn over the right rocks to find it
Her picking is really good but I remember why I couldn't quite click with her. Having a very distinct vocalization and almost yodeling or howling has always been a hallmark of bluegrass for me and she sings very traditionally. Pretty voice, just not interesting to my ears like Sierra Ferrell is

Damn she went from a 10 to a 4, real wild shit

10

Slow down, buddy

Sierra Ferrell

well, she has the most intriguing voice of anyone in yrs....but she cant shred like Molly lol. I get what you mean tho- Molly is very straight laced vocally. But they are still a foot stompin' good time live

I'd love to see them do a Watch the Thronesque collab record. They could really feed of eachother's strengths.
