Do you guys think 1on1 production coaching is worth it?
I found some guy that makes tutorials on youtube which i really really enjoy and from which i learned alot so i was thinking of picking up 1 or 2 lessons. They are 80 bucks per hour
If I wasn't a broke bitch I would 100% pay for tutoring.
Imo it's much more "worth" it if you have an exact idea of what you're hoping to accomplish with a teacher though.
If you're in the stages of "still learning" (i.e a novice, or what most people claim as "intermediate") then you're probably not going to get much out of it unless you approach with very specific goals in mind.
... That said I haven't scoped it out, but 80 bucks sounds a little steep afaik?
I've seen ads from producers who I personally feel are accomplished for less than that.
Then again they're not known for *teaching,* which is a different skillset after all.
This guy is really good, his personal tracks arent really my cup of tea but his youtube tutorials are awesome. Hes able to nail sound of a lot of artists. Though, thats the exact thought i had just a second ago, i dont really know what sound im trying to achieve. I know when i hear it. I dont even know which tracks could he help me finish, but maybe he could help me better my existing finished tracks. Is it worth it just for learning mixing and mastering a bit? Im clueless on that part and im too lazy/ cant find proper tutorials to do it on my own.

Imo if you can show somebody your project file, walk through it together and talk about the thought process on the micro and macro level: yes that's worth it.
But yeah, like we're saying, it'll only be worth it if you go in with a certain mindset as opposed to just going in blind and trusting that he'll take the reins.
Well yeah i was thinking of going through some of my finished project files and to see whats good and what can be improved, also doing some rudimentary mixing/ mastering cause i have no idea how to do it. I feel like on many occassions he could right off the bat see improvements like "this needs to be EQd differently" etc. I know what sound i want i just have trouble expressing it with words. I have no trouble asking questions or steering the convo in a path that im interested in. Also, i could show him some tracks to show what sound am i going for so maybe he could give me some pointers in achieving it in a new project or just help me out with synthesis of patches
