Ludicrous assertion, he's got like the second largest amount of tunes in the regular repertoire and was band leader on so many essential recordings. This reeks of rockist contrarianism.

Every popular artist is called 'overrated" at some point. In Miles' case, it doesn't help that he played a big part in many controversial changes in jazz music, such as Fusion, or that he was a huge asshole in real life, who liked to talk smack about other musicians who were just as talented as him if not more.
Personally, I like his music, and I think he deserves a lot of his fame, but he did let it go a bit to his head.

"Overrated" is such a cancerous word for music criticism because it says nothing about the music itself, but indulges a useless meta-commentary on other people's opinions. Music reviewers should try to say something enlightening about music rather than being contrarian against the opinions of other reviewers

Among amateur reviewers on RYM and Anon Babble, absolutely. At this point, Anon Babble is almost incapable of talking about music itself and the assessment of the music is secondary to the assessment of other people's opinions on it
