/gg/ - guitar & bass general
So what is it that we are supposed to post here anyway?
vocas
Nobody responds to those
Theres nothing to discuss
Big name brands have qa issues rn
Gibson is over priced
Chinkshit guitars are getting better, still not as good as an mia instrument
A guitar can sound like whatever you want with the right pickup
Tone wood is a meme
Everything has been discussed to death so we have the answer to eveey question and i have zero interest in listening to another generic thrash, blues, or jazz, vocaroo -- your performance is ok, your tone is mediocre, and your composition is inoffensive but uninteresting
Why did the other thread get deleted?
candy apple red strat. end of.
retard
mfw it archived because all the 30yo delivery boys were too busy slin/gg/in/gg/ pies to bump it
We can start by pointing out that an EQ can make any guitar sound like any other guitar regardless of pickup or build characteristics.
Big cock ES CHADS RISE UP.

I do if its got something worth saying, even if I don't reply I still listen
I told you the OP needs a guitar picture otherwise nobody knows what this thread is, /gg/ folks can't read music or english
Guitar rig 7 is out hell ya
I had a pirated version of Amplitube with everything unlocked and it had some of my favorite gear like the Rockman. How does Guitar Rig stack? Does it have support for IR's?
Josh Scott owned this stupid fuck
youtube.com
Candy Apple Red is nice but Hot Rod Red has had my heart since child. When I was a teenager that was the guitar I dreamed of and wanted my first respectable guitar purchase to be, but it was pre sight unseen internet shopping, I couldn't track one down in my country (even though the Fender website was advertising them for about a grand USD) and so instead I settled for an upscale LTD with EMGs which admittedly is the diametric opposite of the Strat spec-wise. Still that guitar served me well all these years. Picrel is a 2001 Hot Rod Red American Standard Strat. I already own a lot of Strats otherwise I'd be looking to snap up something like this but maybe some day later on.
In hindsight if I had looked around more thoroughly I probably could have found one but I'm glad things transpired the way they did otherwise I wouldn't be the same guitar player I am today.
Forgot the pic.
this is absolutely wrong because there are things specific to guitars and pickups which are more than a matter of simple eq, like neck construction, bridge material, bridge type, nut material and when it comes to pickups the choice of magnet, the way its wound, the amount of winds and output all contribute fundamental and inalienable characteristics to the sound that can't be replicated by moving frequencies around. people like you are delusional and your tone probably sounds like hog ass.
Bought a chink Jackson and it's alright but the pickups have to go. Any passive pickup recommendations? And no, blacked EMGs arent an option
If you have any Behringer pedals, what's your experience been like? Obviously build quality is shit, but I only plan to play in my bedroom. Think they'll hold up?
I have a lot of experience with some the cheapest crap pedals out there. One of my favorites is the ultimate drive by aliexpress. Behringer is literally boutique shit to me dude. You'll be fine
strat with a PAF in the bridge still sounds like a strat. not a les paul
it all has to do with attack/decay
The weight of the Les Paul also goes into this. Because it has more mass the lower notes bloom more making it sound way fatter than a strat.
yes and also the scale length. gibson scale length is shorter so strings are wobblier. a low E on a Les Paul wiggles around much more than a low E on a strat
Big name brands have qa issues rn
Why is that?
Any passive pickup recommendations?
tone rider makes good chinese pickups that aren't a rip off
truth is pickups are magnets and wires and if you're gonna cheap out on any component cheap out on pickups
spending substantial money on aftermarket pickups is a trap. you will barely hear the difference. adjusting the eq on your amp, adjusting the vol/tone on your guitar, adjusting pickup height will have a WAY larger impact than putting some overpriced boutique bullshit pickups in your guitar will
that being said, cheap humbuckers tend to be muddy as hell. I've never heard a bad sounding single coil in my life.
If I had a muddy beginner guitar with Jackson pickups I would swap them out for the tried and true Seymour Duncan JB/Jazz set which is pretty affordable and the gold standard for rock music
Whatever they put in Japanese JMs at least back in the day were the worst single coils I've ever heard.
my understanding is that the Jap jazzmasters didn't use REAL jm pickups
I'm a normal person though
the old mim and squier ceramic single coils on REAL designs (strat and tele) sound fine and dandy
For me it's Gretsch.
They definitely weren't like JM pickups. They were smaller and shrill sounding, with just a JM style cover over it. That's the first upgrade you needed. But Fender seems to have gone all in all of their models nowadays. Japan was once pretty much the only option for any cheap offset.
Japan was once pretty much the only option for any cheap offset.
cheap
I was alive and they weren't in american stores. there was no cheap offset in the 90's. maybe when the Toronado and Cyclone came out but I frequently see zoomers on the internet saying "you could get a vintage JM Jag Mustang for dirt cheap at pawnshops" maybe in the hair metal era but after Kurt Cobain there was no affordable offset for a kid
I bought a Squier VMJM for 300 dollars back in 2010 i think, that was the first time a cheap Fender offset was available
and toronado, cyclone, jagstang don't count
Did you ear train today?
Cheap compared to vintage. And hell no, the vintage JM prices weren't cheap. They weren't crazy like they are now, but they were still out of reach for most people. And the really rare stuff like a Bass VI were nearly $10k or something close to it. I remember a local shop back then that had one hanging for years. Nobody would buy it or even knew wtf it was. I forgot where I got the Japanese one, but it was used and within reach.
lol you have no earthly idea what you're talking about. Even attack can be simulated with EQ.
half the thread is one schizo replying to himself over and over again
thank you based schizo
This music changed my life. After listening to this I met the love of my life, we got married and are having our first child, its gonna be a baby girl. We're due in August.
I bet you simulate attacking your butt u fag
