One time he delivered a lecture at my college, so I went to it for the lulz because there was a contingent going who wanted to shut the event down and cancel him because he used a picture of Hitler on his old meme review channel. He handled it pretty well, made the girls doing it look like idiots. I was laughing most of this time. At the end, I went up to him to shake his hand, and I told him thanks a bunch, I was a big fan (I wasn't but I wanted to be polite) and he barely grasped my hand and didn't even look at me. I'm pretty sure he HATES anyone who watches him for the memes only.
This is literally his job it would be stupid to not review it. Anthony is a YouTube, he makes YouTube videos, if he was actually good at music reviews he'd be working with a real reputable music publication or writing for the New York times or something. But, like Nardwuar, Anthony isn't the best at what he does BUT he has a gimmick and production style that makes his gimmicky lack-luster word salad videos stand out just enough to trick people into thinking he's hip so he gets views. Nardwuar gets a bit of a pass because regardless how repetitive and annoying his shtick is, he has in the past gotten some phenomenal interviews and he has a very punk gonzo realness to his craft but he ask terrible questions and his shocking knowledge is always about nonsense.
