This shit fucking sucks. What happened to the dude ?
Black Country New Road
They're like a twee folk prog band now
I’ve never listened to this band and i never will. Remember when bands were alluring? Disregarding bands based on their nerdy band photos, personal backgrounds (trust fundies), and shitty artwork should be normalised
You're not missing out on anything. They sucked with the previous singer, too.
Imagine dropping the only remotely intriguing aspect of your band
He left because the pressure was too much for him or something. He's a nonbinary barista these days apparently.
I thought the singles were bretty gud. Can't really blame them for having to reinvent their sound.
damn this shit is fire. well worth the wait
i just want more jockstrap
women ruin everything
They're better now, this will be their best album.
Zoomers do UK ver. of Arcade Fire and everyone goes bananas, same with Fontaines D.C.
Groups of the 2020's are so creatively bankrupt, man. black midi were a rare exception
black midi is good
Opinion discarded

ngmi
arcade fire invented acoustic guitars
band A sounds suspiciously like band B
wut did band B invent music or summin??
Mongoloid thought process
Wow that sounds cool actually
Not really
Is that a pepe?
I wholeheartedly disagree with you.
If the rest of the album is as great as 'For The Cold Country' is, and they keep the momentum up, this will totally be a top contender for AOTY of 2025.
The new sound is really cool. I really liked the, at times, ominous sound that they had for a while like on the track Science Fair, but the lighter more feather-y sound is enjoyable as well.
Although a completely different band and genre, I'm glad they didn't fall to pieces like Fever the Ghost did.
Their first EP + album was a great, and extremely interesting release, they had such a unique sound, but they released a newer album awhile back that completely deviated from their initial output to the point that it didn't sound like the same band anymore.
They lost all the fucking aura that they had. If this album had another name it would be 3.30 on RYM at best. There's nothing original about this, you might like it but that doesn't mean it's any good.
they are Live. Laugh. Learn. Wine aunt music now
If this album had another name it would be 3.30 on RYM at best. There's nothing original about this
Fair enough. A popular band is bound to garner more attention just for their namesake.
There's nothing original about this
We're in the endless era of countless sequels, reboots, remakes and derivative works because companies want to play it as safe as possible while still making the most money possible, and zoomers don't want to make anything of their own and nostalgiafag for things they weren't alive for into the next weekend, they got played, and now they're under the spell, so now we're not going to be seeing any new subcultures or musical movements until something changes. If anything changes at all.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that unfortunately the bar is so low nowadays that even if it is painfully derivative, it's now about if it's "good" or sounds "good enough".
you might like it but that doesn't mean it's any good.
Understandable.
this
They always sucked.
blackcountrynewroad.bandcamp.com
This is ridiculously terrible. Why has there been a push to sound like a band from a children's show in these new bands?
Very Joanna Newsome-esque sounding album
We'll never know
Really? You guys fucking adored Ants from up here IIRC.
the absolute pinnacle of British engineering :D
They should've changed their name. Absolute dogshit.
You know, I was disappointed with seeing all the negativity here in this thread. After listening to this though I agree, this is total shit.
what a fucking shitty album, except for the last 4 songs, those are actually pretty good
Actually Anon Babble hated it, it was mostly trust fund shitposting and >she was billie eilish style
That being said I don't mind the historical revisionism
I’ve got this one.
I thought it was really charming. An emotional feeling the trolls in the thread have never felt.
It sounds like a bunch of British grandmothers raided a local music shop. Just as fresh and interesting as their old lady nethers.
This is better than their last two
They're trying to be a cross between Fleetwood Mac and some kind of 60s psychedelia
Music for grannies dressed in wool sweaters
bretty good, not as good as the first two, but that was bound to happen when isaac left, he was literally me fr
I don't mind it, it's quite nice but I want it to be better.
Like, there's a space for pastoral folky artists right now as an antithesis to the chaos of the current world, if anything their continued success so far is proof of that. But compositionally it feels a lil derivative when the more interesting approach would have been to blend their folk fixations with their existing canterbury-esque sounds. Like I want it to be more jazz adjacent than it is.
My thoughts exactly, there are beautifu instrumental bits and arrangements that weren't fully done and thrown into the songs randomly. It's a good album regardless, I appreciate that they took this risk.
