It's gimmicky full of sounds and effects.
In my experience normies fucking hate this, it’s too gimmicky and they rarely get what he’s going for, if they make it long enough to the barking dogs bit near the end most would presume it’s some kind of joke.
It doesn't have an immediate verse, chorus scheme but the chord progression is always enjoyable.
This style of listening is something normies need a minute to get to grips with, it’s probably the main reason most jazzheads in 2025 are people that play music. And there’s way better jazz albums for getting normies into following the progressions than this one, in large part because of the weird gimmicks and the fact the opening track is extremely long and the most inaccessible on the album by far.
I don’t think it’s actually that accessible. Christgau just sucked it off because it legitimised rock as serious artistic business and a generation of other rock critics followed him on that. Otherwise it’s near a TMR tier meme album.
