How could a mongoloid be happier than you or me?

He had no great expectations to live up to. He was free.

I used to think this song was an anti-racism metaphor, but turns out it’s some post-apocalyptic sci-fi story about nuclear mutants.

I'll never understand why they replaced their "Human Metronome" drummer Alan Meyers with a shitty Fairlight CMI and then used it to make straight 4/4 time songs

because mark was doing shittons of molly stfg

i'm seeing them soon. i hope they play space junk.

I agree. Oh No, It’s DEVO! Much better than the pseudo intellectual self titled album that’s meh at best

it's anti-work, like many of devo's songs. it's saying that work is so dehumanizing that a mongoloid would fit in perfectly.

I thought it was about a productive working family man with Down's syndrome.

it's explained in the song, ninny

anti-racism metaphor

how on earth did you come to that conclusion?

you can tell these people were all very intelligent just by looking at their legs. i love them

fashion icons

god i love short shorts on men, and i'm not even gay

Mongoloid is a word for the Asiatic race in some languages. I was flabbergasted when I learned what meaning this word had in English.

Everyone keeps saying it was drugs but was it really?
Jerry seemed pretty pissed about the way Shout turned out

Also, why the fuck didnt they have Alan's face on the DEVO 50 cover? it coulcve been perfect on the right side in the white space

i wanted to believe this but the sad truth is that they fell off extremely hard after new traditionalists (an iffy album itself) and never got "it" back

whats wrong with ONID though? its got some great bangers

there's absolutely no indication of their falling off before shout.

What are the odds they'll come to the UK again spuds?

slim

Bump Control

Saw them on their 50th anniversary tour, it was the best show i've ever seen. They still rule.

Anyway, my favourite album is Oh No its Devo, but this seems to be an unpopular choice

mothersbaugh was doing some of his most interesting right around the time devo stopped being a great band. i think it just stopped being the primary concern of its main members.

incidentally it's notable that wes anderson's films really fell off once mothersbaugh stopped scoring them

also incidentally, why do you reckon devo releases suddenly became emblazoned with parental advisory stickers? is this just to entice people who demand edgy lyrics in their music? seems kind of dishonest desu. apart from a few songs of theirs--'i need a chick', 'worried man', most notably--they were pretty tame lyrics-wise.

penetration in the centerfold
modern life
worried man
but none of those were on new traditionalists

The chorus draws attention to the character's appearance or identity with a mocking tone, while the verses describe him living a normal life indistinguishable from anyone else. I took it to symbolize the dehumanizing nature of bigotry.

did anybody see them at the LA concert for the fires this year?

Nah, I’m with you. Oh No is by far their best release. Not one skippable track

Didn't they recently* for some skating event?
