ABOUT TO POO

i never understood why he was shooped with a tele

It's too obvious what you're in for otherwise.

Does anyone use amplitube?
Should I be playing through a speaker/amp or headphones, i feel like it's a bit to distorted with headphones

What's your signal-chain?

youtu.be/awRT3jKg5Mg
omg that guitar is such awesomely modded

woa

I'm in a loop, when I pick up guitar I now play C G A F in a loop with small variations (sometimes might be Gm7 to C9, or whatever goes). How do I escape?

spend thousands on gear and guilt yourself into improving

Always start with G man. No one told you this?

That's what I did. Dropped 6k on gear in one big Thomann shipment (electric, acoustic, cases, board, over a dozen pedals, cables, mics, stands, mixer, PA, bunch of accessories) and concluded that now the only thing that sucks in this picture is me. I can't even delude myself into thinking that I need more gear.

im trying to play a descending pentatonic solo. its pretty fast but im sort of getting the hang of it. i can play it sloppy to speed but im trying to fix it and do it right. keep messing up here though. is there anything else to do technique-wise or is it just a matter of trying it over and over again slowly building up the speed?
like is there a trick to the picking i should be doing? im up/down picking it as i descend, and keeping my index finger barred across the 7th fret
also i tabbed this by ear so it might not be the right/best frets for those notes but im pretty sure it is

I doubt you suck. Once you're past the intermediate stage, you've developed some kind of style, more than likely. As long as you own it and build on it, then you don't suck. Nobody else can be you. Otherwise, nobody gives a single fuck about shredders. Except shredders. Which nobody gives a fuck about.

Not that guy but fuck man, that was unironically inspiring. I have a style of my own, it's not bad, but I always put myself down for not being able to do the insane shreddy shit.

really, the only people that care are shredders. a random girl or guy off the street will 99% choose to listen to a guy playing and singing literal wonderwall on an acoustic than listen to a 2 minutes of doodlynoodlywoo

can you shut tf up

sorry for party rocking

lucky you have 6k to just throw at that. all i have is an $100 epiphone sg i got from craigslist used, years ago. the pickups suck and the wires crackle sometimes but i dont want to risk changing it and losing my only guitar. how come so many players these days have all sorts of money, home studios battlestations, gear, and aren't living up to the starving musician trait, yet not making money from music far as i can tell? what do yall do for work? or are you just rich kids?

Is it that bad in the US lol? Working as a CGI artist in Eastern Europe... I don't know, my workstation setup cost 10k. And that's cheap considering my friend dropped 100k on a semitruck just recently and at the end of the month we make about the same, and the farmers I know... well, some of them have tools closing up on 7 figures total. Shit, my mate's son's motocross hobby is costing him close to 3k a month. Guess it helps when going to the doctor for a hemorrhoid isn't going to bankrupt me and send me 100k into a debt. I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I buy clothes once every 5-7 years and I wear them through. I still have my flagship phone from 2016. No avocado toast for me. I don't spend money on bullshit. Thus I have money to spend on things that really matter, like my family & my hobbies. No, I'm not rich.

100k into a debt

anon... it would be more like a million.

I'm a code monkey with money for hobby gear, started playing just recently and I'm glad I finally learned how music works, I loved listening to it but could barely sing in the shower back when it really mattered.

i would rather hear a chordy song they're singing well that features JUST enough doodlynoodlywoo. which is not fucking wonderwall or something basic like that, unless they're a really really good singer, or a hot chick. having wonderwall in your repertoire at all only says to me "i picked this up only to be popular and get laid. i have no real musical drive or creativity, i cant improv, chords are strict rules not suggestions, and if i ever get to point of writing my own songs for tiktok i will name my demos by the current top band im ripping off because it worked for them"

wonderwall isn't even the best known oasis song. hit the streets with supernova or dont look back in anger instead please. in all my years as a guitarist i've never even tried wonderwall, stairway, smoke on the water. when i joined a cover band and they only ever wanted to play "the hits to make people dance and buy beer" it disgusted me

No, that guy's just broke, most people have enough money to sink thousands of dollars on a hobby if they really want. So your insecure blogpost was for naught, I'm afraid.

"i picked this up only to be popular and get laid. i have no real musical drive or creativity, i cant improv, chords are strict rules not suggestions, and if i ever get to point of writing my own songs for tiktok i will name my demos by the current top band im ripping off because it worked for them"

all this insecure babble aside, wonderwall is exactly what you play when you're out to impress a girl, a song she knows, she can sing along to, not whatever bullshit vocas I head in this thread all the time. same goes for general public, you can play popular songs and make your own shit too, it's not mutually exclusive, but you're just looking to whine about some shit. you suck, and that's your own problem.

chords are strict rules not suggestions

Be a ponk and break every rule, sus4no5add9add13 all day.

imagine the fat tranny who plays wonderwall

Wonderwall or not, we're all going to be happy with our guitar playing eventually. Keep playing. We're all going to make it, anons.

Thoughts on Andy Powers? At first I thought he was a snake oil salesman but frankly he’s correct about most of what he says. Modern day Ted McCarty and much superior to PRS.

I think I’ll get grab a Powers Electric to go with my 814ce

IMG_8916.jpg - 970x1200, 157K

didnt get evicted after all so i can buy more gear
feelsgoodman

I've never played a Grand Pacific, so I can't say. He seems OK.
It's funny that most guitar builders are nerds. He's like Bob Taylor and PRS himself. And Leo was a notorious nerd who didn't even like talking to people. Mostly stayed in his workshop tinkering around.

his electrics look like an amalgam of a firebird and an rd
kinda like it desu

How do i get a washed out (atmo) black metal sound? I'm to stupid to achieve it.

sm57 a couple feet away from the amp into a cheap analog mixer with the gain on the mixer cranked to taste

guitar builders are nerds

*autists
john suhr is a furry for example

Good morning sluts.
To the post in the last thread that asked if same model or same colour is better in a collection: both are guitar slut behaviour.
That is all.

KeithRichards.jpg - 1000x1384, 157.89K

It's a good shape. I think the best designs are ones where you can't tell where it fits or what style of music it's encouraging. Where it's up to the players. I could see it being a typical rock or punk guitar, but also country or surf or rockabilly. Has all those vibes.

Yea it's pretty nice, this is the one with cannabis rex

Not for mixing just playing.

Its a sexy little amp

Kinda funny to see a boomer amp with a cannabis rex.

formerly chuck's

i like all guitars desu

Is there really supposed to be an actual "Tweed" sound? They all sound different to me, unlike Blackfaces.
I really like the 50s Twin..but that's too much amp for me.

the verse is my heart is pumpin'

what did you do?

i had a dream that i shot a squatter in my garage and he had a gibson j45 and i played it and it was the most beautiful sounding acoustic ive ever heard

You bastard.

How come every guitar VST sounds like shit compared to my amp. How do I get that toan

I'm so poor I eat plain rice so guess what guitar I play. It's an acoustic

it was a tiny pistol and he just disappeared so he didnt die or anything
Mitchell
because vsts suck for guitar

it was a tiny pistol and he just disappeared so he didnt die or anything

Yeah, he transported to my dream. He told me about you. He wants his guitar back.

Which vst?
Some free piece of shit
or like Guitar rig/Helix/Bias?

Or are you just new to them?
VSTRigs are meant to sound like you recorded them with a mic and not sounding exactly how a live amp feels/sounds but the actual recording finished product

tell him i painted it in my dream and he cant have it back now but ill get him another one

I've used Tonex, Neural Amp Modeler. and GuitarRig back in the day. I typically record with my JC-120 when possible but it's been proven to be difficult lately

I've noticed the profiles don't offer dynamic response to playing or adjusting controls. They look like amps in the app, but moving the gain knob is basically just a volume. On a real amp you can feel the difference between gain 2 volume 10 and gain 7 volume 5 even if the output is similar. It's clipping headroom, compression, and tightness of the amp.

The profiles seem to do better the less I tweak them. It's really nice to record DI. It's not as good as having Rick Beato's studio backline, but it's good and doesn't take up a lot of space or budget.

this general so much comfier when the DEI schizo disappeared

I prayed for days like those but down deep we knew they wouldn't last

JC-120 distortion is fairly unique. I don't think modelers get it. No one wants it, anyway.

be Jazzmaster or Jazz Chorus

get used by post punks instead of jazz

kek

no its really loud and stupid

I had a Deluxe years ago, which is similar but not as powerful. They've changed over the years, but I didn't like the overdrive back then, but apparently that changed. The cleans are good, and I guess it's more popular for being a pedal platform. Might be Fender's cheapest tube amp with an EFX loop?

Come to think of it, they should have a loop in the Blues Jr. That would sell even more than it already does.

Is there a better boss pedal I could use in here in place of the eq pedal? Is there a better boss distortion than the metal zone w or the fz-2? I kinda wish my board was all boss but whatever. I also have a spark mini in the corner, which like the eq I could see replacing with another mini pedal tho, because it's kinda a pedal I use as a utility when I could just get my level from the other ones

be fender

make guitar for rock

jazz players like it

make guitar for jazz

surf players like it

make guitar for surf

punk players like it

It’s the IR. Get two notes

Why would you get evicted? Also, how can I stop the lower E from buzzing mainly on the 7th, 8th and 9th frets?

And when we say frets, do we mean the space in which a pitch is a pitch, or its metal boundaries?

omg it's plugin omg omg

how can I stop the lower E from buzzing mainly on the 7th, 8th and 9th frets?

Usually there should be the most space between frets and strings.

And when we say frets, do we mean the space in which a pitch is a pitch, or its metal boundaries?

The metal.

Really thinking about doing some mods to the electronics of this

replace pickups

Probably with Fralin Pure PAFs or something similar, lower output humbuckers compared to the hot humbuckers it currently has

replace dual volume knobs with master volume and tone

coil splitting, either push pull pots or preferably individual switches on the lower horn if I decide to route a pocket for them (idk if I’d want to do that)

I like this guitar a lot as is but I’m not thrilled with the Atomic HBs and no tone control. Having something lower output and being able to fiddle with a tone control would make it jump up quite a bit in my book, and while having it all torn apart why not have coil splitting too

I really want a Mustang because I love the idea of a simple two single coil short scale guitar but if I can just have this thing with split coils that’ll cover that area as well as the area it already covers. It’s a really cool guitar and I think modding it will just make me love it even more.

IMG_0565.jpg - 1574x2100, 819.87K

You know I love you right? You do know that.

Ill stick to x and facebook and you can have your kpop whore worship forum all for yourself

X and Facebook

Hmmm.

I don't get mustangs. The Squier ones cost almost the same a much better jaguar.

EQ is a must have pedal. Post some looper vocas instead

I like them because they’re super light and are basically everything I like from a Strat

I have about 50 USD, where can I buy a guitar + amp with this amount of money?

Ebay, craigslist or flea markets.

pawn shop too
you can get lucky and find old Peavey gear for literally pennies sometimes

i mean, its kinda putting lipstick on a pig desu

You guys won't believe this, but I Mountain at a festival in northern Louisiana. He was playing an acoustic set of Tom Waits covers. I talked to him after the set and he was kind but aloof. Barrell chested. The music was obviously good, but what I never experienced before was the raw sexual energy he projected from stage. He was a dynamo.

please never stop these posts always get a chuckle out of me
i still say "gotta eat big to play big" irl

Thanks for the support. It's all about the music. Alot of people forget about that.

parallel mod > coil split, still retains hum bucking qualities

Cool combo of bling and still understated.

i agree, makes me think of johnny cash
hits the shelf in a month, gives me time to save up for it
found my forever acoustical

hell yeah

This is the guitar

Are you using an IR loader?
or just the amp vst thing?
Because without an IR reverb/place setting it's going to be worse

when everything your brand has ever put out is stockpiled in your local ghetto's musty music shop

kek

get a set of Bill Lawrence Wilde L-90. 4H bridge 2.8H neck if you want lower output and you'll never think about Fralins again.

its the speaker, play your VST through your cabinet and be amazed

The sad part is it's all rock solid gear
I cant put my finger on why penissy has never taken

Hes a great guy and a great musician, really wish he'd tone down the antisemitism though.

based depression era anon.

15:35-15:45 is just black sabbaths paranoid

God was telling you you're going to end up homeless and shot because of your endless guitar acquisition syndrome but at least it'll be cause of a j45

Very loud, and I think they had a reputation for bad electronics.

5150, T50, classics, supreme, butcher

It's a good brand, they just can't get out of their own way.

dumb logo

Aren't they teetering on going out of business. I know that's why I skipped buying their amps recently

such a fuck ugly logo.

The shell trim will not expand+contract at the same rates as the wood and finish, so you are guaranteed to get finish checking up and down that thing.
Sorry you had to find out this way.

I thought I was ripping off the wolf mother hammer-on lick. I guess I can see how it sounds like paranoid.

Why don't you die? Why don't you just drop dead you fat schizo fuck?

What company is Tekey. I tried googling it but didn't get much, why is it funny?

I only have 2 guitars
Good thing i like (real) finish checking
every real acoustic ive ever owned was old, nitro and had it. i enjoy it

See what I mean?

Yeah theyre ded in the water, been looking for a buyer for years now
I like it but can totally see why its distasteful, same with BC Rich

God hasn't called his children home, fám

Why don't you arrange an album? You have a unique style that I can only get hints of Tom Waits, Cash, Cave, Depeche Mode. You're one of the most consistent posters and the sovlless Anon Babbletants are trying to ggaslight you.

That's unfortunate

daddy chill

i tried to tell em

Any amp would look better with a Peavy logo

Is there a significant difference between learning a tab and trying to learn a song by ear? Will trying to learn by ear make me that much better a guitarist that I should just stick to it?

If you dont know any better just learn the tab
the problem with tabs is theyre so often just written by autists that just do tabs and dont actually play guitar, leading to weird stretches and runs that once you really learn the fretboard make no sense
Tabs can be a good starting point though, an icebreaker essentially

learning by ear is a better mental exercise, while learning by tab is more efficient (and can potentially teach you easier (or worse) fingerings).
Of course you will learn how to more efficiently fret notes with time, but imo it can sometimes be useful to watch a live vid of the artist playing when learning by ear just to get a general idea of where the hands are on the fretboard during the song.
your ear is something that needs to be trained like anything else, but the end goal is playing the right notes regardless of how you reach it.

can sometimes be useful to watch a live vid of the artist playing when learning by ear just to get a general idea of where the hands are on the fretboard during the song.

^^this too^^
its how I figured out that the tab version of the intro of cliffs of dover is completely different and more difficult than the way Johnson actually plays it

I've been playing for 5 years and never really progressed past the barred chords stage. Now I'm actually trying to learn guitar competence. I mean to say I should know better.
I firmly believe autistic people would make the best tabs, fuck outta here
I'd suppose the mental exercise is more valuable. I'm a little frustrated with my progress these last few days and wanted to just learn the "what" instead of the "how". By learning by ear I'm actually putting my scales knowledge into practice and adding little improvs I probably wouldn't bother to try if I were just learning the tab.
Watching the video has been immensely helpful.

Here's what I'm trying to learn, for reference.
youtube.com/watch?v=34MF1JTbwa4

To have that logo besmirch such a beautiful amp... how regrettable.

If you don't know the fretboard you don't understand how ridiculous the tabs are
youll learn

I started with tabs and Rocksmith, and didn't bother trying to learn anything by ear for years. If I could go back in time I would force myself to make learning by ear a regular part of my practice. 10 mins a day, 1 lick, whatever. It is so much more fulfilling, beneficial, and fun, when you figure it out yourself. You remember it better too. Not to mention all the little articulations you pick up when you are REALLY trying to listen.

Well since you can discern bad from good, which is it? Tabs or ear? Surely you would know.

How do you also play the drums?

Both. You need both

But that's cruel.

Yes.

Ty Ty lured me back with that vintage guitar show video, only to half ass the content like he spent a half hour at the show to get enough video to edit down to 10 minutes, and then left. Where's the sweet Toanz

He probably uses a drum pad or midi keyboard, mixed with a analog drum machine. You can get really cool drum tracks by playing midi on a keyboard and having some foot castanets and a tambourine on the floor, playing them with your feet, with your jambay hand drum miked up beside you.

Best resources for learning fingerstyle?

Watch this

you use both, why limit yourself to one or the other? tab gets you in the right spot your ears get it right. but again, i don't know shit, I'm a bedroom player in a flyover state with 0 live experience.

I can't help with this specifically but in my experience the best way to get faster is to spend your time in the woodshed with a metronome and just play your scales over and over and over again, slowly getting faster

Played some hot kicks at gc (guitar center) earlier. Trying to get recruited to a new hard rock band, as my current one keeps loosing battle of the bands. Got a few nods as I played my originals and some chicks watched too. Wound up getting a Gibson custom sg. 12k. After I set it up it played like water. Gibson really puts in the effort. The detail. G - Genuine I - innovation B - behooves S - systematic O - oneness N - naturally.

You guys seeing this?

I suddenly feel the urge to listen to Cliven Hoof. Anybody else?

Whoa

Of the roughly 20 or so guitars I’ve owned in my lifetime this Noventa JM is top 5 for sure. 3 P90s set up in Strat configuration with that body and neck and scale is a real winning combo. The tone is excellent and varied, the neck is super fast with nice finish, and the tremolo can take a good hammering and stay in tune. Everything I play on it sounds good, from Search and Destroy to bluesy RHCP stuff like Wet Sand and Soul to Squeeze. I will eventually post some recordings when I get my 24 track set up. Mexican Fender has gotten way better since the mid 00s which is the last time I bought a Fender or played them at the store with any regularity. Real glad I went with this and a Ltd edition player 1 Strat to get back into the guitar swing as opposed to the new Indo Standard series which is what I was looking at originally.

Suggestions on fretboard oil/polish?
Thanks in advance

I find that this new Pau Ferro shit gets dryer than a mafq and I use Dunlops fretboard juice. I forget the exact formula but if you give it a goog you’ll find it.

3 P90s set up in Strat configuration

What happens in position 4?

Dunlops fretboard juice

Lemon scented mineral oil?

you're thinking of tung oil, which dries hard and would be terrible for a fretboard

I tried doing this with scales and different arpeggio shapes but it never sticks very well. I'll practice one, move on to the next, and if I go back after a day or two it's all sloppy again.

Drop a link, I'll listen to it tomorrow

I think Neil is actually singing about Goldstein here. Very based.

I've only implement 1-2 shapes in my actual playing for soloing and i dont play them fast. i just use pentatonic as my base, and modes and arpeggios for extra flavor.
