When listening to albums what do you do...

When listening to albums what do you do? I genuinely wonder cause usually I just do something in the background like play 2048 but do people actually just stare at the album cover and do nothing?

where is BRAT?

Depends on the album, if it’s more energetic I’ll walk around the house/walk outside, if it’s more chill I’ll just sit down and dim the lights. I’ve tried to listen to new music when i work out but I can’t really focus on 2 things at once, I just put on albums I’ve already heard instead.

smoke weed
go on walks
housework
draw
shower

I listen to music while doing other stuff like working or drawing, I can focus on both things so I don't need to sit in silence to "fully enjoy the music"

you have to be at least 13 to post here

I usually do idle things. I reserve videogames for podcasts but when listening to albums I'm usually driving, sitting in my bed, or going on a walk, at least when I'm listening to an album for the first time.

The amount of album covers of the Beatles album definitely goes to show how great of a cover it is

Yeah here. I forgot that I used to listen to a lot of albums on the bus ride to school thanks for reminding me that I was 13 at one point

Active Listening is extremely autistic behavior

masturbate

thats a lot of masturbating

thanks doll

half of those are just ok

with the beatles

greater than abbey road, pepper’s or white

Why? Is it because it subtly makes fun of Ringo for being a manlet?

I pay attention to the music.

oh my science is that a friggen cow? and a sock?! how hecking randomerino! and...OH MY FAUCI IS THAT A SHIRTLESS BLACK MAN? YES. SO MUCH YES. this is literally everything.

This is crazy to think that there are times when he couldn't hit it sideways...

I browse this place or play a game, if i'm actually focused on the listening experience i just sit and well, listen

Loaded question

how is this a loaded question

"You listen to albums. While doing that, what do you do also?". Really?

Atom heart mother really is lame as fuck though.

reading lyrics, browsing the web, chatting, or just staring at the ceiling

open up album

let it play

surf the internet

why do zoomers think its some complicated thing to listen to full albums

If I'm at home with headphones, I mainly browse Anon Babble. I'd rarely bother coming here if it wasn't a good accompaniment to listening to something. It's perfect, enough to keep me occupied but doesn't require much thought. That and other idle/brainless things mentioned in this thread like walking that let you focus on the music primarily.
I don't get people who can somehow focus on work or an engaging game at the same time as 'listening' to music. Maybe I'm just not as good at multitasking, but it seems bullshit to me that these people actually pay attention to what they're hearing. I mean its fine if you like doing that, but don't claim you're 'listening' to anything at that point. That's just BG ambience. I bet a lot of performative fags on the internet who somehow listen to like 50 new albums a day do this.

because its boring

If you can do something else while listening to music, you're not listening to real music.

Usually eat, sometimes read over the sides of the album covers.

CORNBALL

decide to choose a Spiritualized album

choose Let It Come Down

What?

If your work is a lightweight task then you can focus on the music too, I can listen to Venetian Snares while playing TF2 and still focus on both things, it's almost like the music becomes the soundtrack of the game.

Yes I am, I started enjoying music way more when I stopped larping as an "active listener", fuck that and fuck you.

Venetian Snares while playing TF2

kek you are a walking stereotype

and that stereotype is...?

None of those are even close to the greatest album covers of all time, wtf? Only decent ones are Mezzanine and AHM.

stare at the album cover

There are some who probably do this. I've done so a few times, but usually that's when going through album recommendations. I occasionally stare at the album cover and keep a cursor over the pause button because most of what I hear recommended isn't worth continuing after a sufficient sample. Mostly, however, I've read, played games, coded, worked or driven while listening to music and most of that listening has been ambient over the years as I find less to distract me from other tasks if there aren't lyrics. There are some exceptions, however.

yeah you philistine that’s exactly what I do. Get blasted on weed and stare into space
it’s how you learn to appreciate anything, enjoying the activity in and of itself
do you need your neurolink to remind you to take your ADHD pills? or do you want freedom from the attention economy?

it’s autistic to nitpick at a grown adult enjoying a fine piece of classical music. Do you need to be stimulated by porn sugar and crack cocaine 24/7 cause most zoomers are zombies and should not be acknowledged as anything less than a dog
