Either them or Alter Bridge, I think they have no weak albums though North Corridor was a bit uninspired

The new single is great so I'm hyped for new album

That would be Nirvana. Peak mindless stupid gay bullshit that is so emotional and it rawks!

as someone who grew up in the buttrock generation, barely anyone even knew about this band
this is like hipster-butt
buttrock for people who thought they were to good for the real thing

alterbridge was just a pale shadow of creed

The Red, Send the Pain Below and The Clincher were pretty big hits

alterbridge was just a pale shadow of creed

More like Creed without an annoying singer

Not loving the Stappmeister

pretty big is a bit of an overstatement honestly

also this scott stapp IS buttrock
no one was ever as much a human embodiment of ass than that man
chad kroeger was up there for a while, but time has shown that scott is butt embodied

More like Creed without an annoying singer

He's done a number on you.

Remember when everyone called these guys watered down version of Tool?

Send the pain below was a top 40 radio hit nigga, they played it nonstop when I was driving a box truck delivering furniture in like 2001/2/3

When I first heard them on the radio I did think they were doing a Tool impression, but they grew on me.

The Red and Send the Pain Below both got the shit played out of them. The Clincher was a moderate hit but their first two still get played on my local buttrock/alternative station.

for like a couple of weeks nigga
they came and went
also literally not top 40

I haven't thought about this shit in so long

real tail-end buttrock for me
them and seether lmao
funny that seether are still active

Specify what Butt Rock is.

Mostly post-grunge or alternative metal with tough guy attitude and vocalists who copy Cobain or Vedder

most major-label radio rock from the 00's

it's interesting looking back at this era t bh
we were teenage boys at the time me and my friends
when i was younger i was kinda into motown records and mainstream pop
but then peer pressure and marketing worked and i had to like this stuff instead because it was masculine and shit
grunge, a bit of the usual metal, and some classic rock too, but that shit wasn't ours, this and the nu-metal (it all felt like the same thing at the time) was the present lol. incubus snuck in and it was funny how we reacted to them saying they were okay being the backstreet boys of rock or smth.
real funny in retrospect how transparent it all was
learned guitar playing some of this stuff
good times, but also not
wish i'd done my own thing a bit more

The Killers, Kings of Leon, The White Stripes, The Strokes, Audioslave, Linkin Park, Green Day?
That sort of shit?

Audioslave are the only one of these that is buttrock

Audioslave, Linkin Park

i'd say yes to these (some people will get mad about it)
kings of leon was much later
killers was more pop-rock
white stripes transcended genre conventions
green day went from pop punk to just pop rock

Dave Navarro had some buttrock tracks that weren’t bad
youtu.be/CIa3ZZhDPJ8

Were Collective Soul and Candlebox the first butt rock bands?

What makes Audioslave and Linkin Park butt rock?
Kings of Leon were contemporaneous with them.
How did the White Stripes trancend genre conventions? Which conventions?
How did Green Day change genre without any real change in the style of their music.
Is it possible that these genres are just retarded bullshit for idiots to argue about?

If you think these bands sound anything alike you might need your ears checked

What makes Audioslave and Linkin Park butt rock?

because it felt like it was part of the same continuum at the time
we already liked sound garden and ratm and now we had grunge singing over ratm band members
linkin park was early and in retrospect it's nu-metal, but at the time it fellt like part of the same thing

Kings of Leon were contemporaneous with them.

no one i knew heard about it them till much later, so that's why. i'd moved on.

How did the White Stripes trancend genre conventions? Which conventions?

the white stripes, in retrospect, are a blues band.
they didn't have the distortion or hyper-compressed guitars of nu-metal guiars or the ultra compressed production.
everyone like seven nation army, even my sister who liked nsync. it was undeniable.

how did Green Day change genre without any real change in the style of their music.

i haven't listened to their records in a while but american idiot felt like a departure. we all learned how to play good riddance on guitar before american idiot though.

s it possible that these genres are just retarded bullshit for idiots to argue about?

a bit yes, but you can think of them more as markers in time than as actual meaningful music distinctions.

the biggest thing is that internet was kinda hitting mainstream at the time.
it's easily to look back at this now because it's all catalogued and quantified, but living through stuff is different. like when you get old and people talk about this era they'll have clear dileaneations about things that you thought were just flowing into each other naturally.

For me it's Panic Prone and Emotional Drought

Breaking Benjamin is way better
Post Grunge made by bands who broke out after 1997

Breaking Benjamin

One hit wonder

They had at least a couple that got pretty good airplay.

Staind.
Godsmack.
Creed.
Finger Eleven.

First wave post-grunge isn't really classified as buttrock.

For me it's A Perfect Circle and Fuel.
