I don't have any close friends and I go to shows alone all the time. I used to have a lot of friends from various groups, and now I'm glad I don't talk with any of them. I also don't want new friends. After a certain age stuff like that doesn't seem to be a concern, not like when I was in my twenties. I'm 36 now and I worry more about meeting someone who isn't a complete drain on my soul and settling down. I can't imagine having a "best friend" as a grown adult. Get a dog.

i had a "best friend" who then basically dropped me and picked another friend who stopped talking to me and made him his "best friend" now at best I talk to the former now and again on the phone, seems like most grown ass adults dont give time to more than one person if even and a lot of us don't get picked. My other closest buddy is an unironic schizo alcoholic who is so scared of the demons in his grandpas house sometimes he sleeps in a tent in the backyard. Couldn't hangout and just watch him get wasted and not say any words til he was absolutely sloshed day after day

I find the whole concept of "best friends" to be manipulative and borderline gay. I've never seen a pairing like this where one person wasn't doing all the heavy lifting or being used as a crutch for some sad sap.

people have a lot of opinion on how you're supposed to talk to a schizo and I've done it for 10+ years and my strategy is trying to ground him in reality and tell him these things are his delusions which he occasionally believes cause he looks at me like my life is together. Other people that meet him tend to see his schizophrenia like its a quirky trait and act like its totally cool and then feed into some of his behaviors in ways that aren't ideal imo, like hes a total narcissist and because hes a schizo they cheer him on when he starts to rant about his superiority or how he could take anyone 1v1.

Well how do you know he isn't superior or the best fighter? How do you know those demons aren't real? I think a real friend would get a priest to some round to do an exorcism.

I certainly no longer have it but any guys I know give up on the "sad saps" and so the ones that stick together are very mutual and "casual" they probably wouldn't use the term best friend but when its 2 guys that always keep in touch weekly and always come back to each other its an accurate description

I go to a lot of different stuff on my own but I also work live event security so I get to see every demographic imaginable and it's mostly all bad. I'm not a fan of either EDM or Country but I will say those are some of the worst crowds imaginable, even worse than Hardcore.
