In this day and age, you need to push people around with outrageous statements and questionable actions. As other anons said, an edgy and pushing art piece doesn't become good just cause it's shocking to the general public. But it is, at least for me, instantly more interesting than others. Today everyone scrolls social media and listens to the same influencers without really forming their own opinions. An art piece that forces people to have their own take is in very high demand. Kanye getting together with some blacks and screaming Heil Hitler is not enough, but is a pretty great start. Especially because he is a good musician, he knows what he's doing. He fell short on the conceptual part, but totally delivered artistically, and normies got exposed to stuff they otherwise wouldn't have.
