This was underwhelming

For a while this was considered one of the greatest albums of all time and THE beatles album to listen to. So I give it a go and think the first four songs are kinda cool, but after that it falls off a cliff with some melodramatic 60s slop that I can't take seriously, a literal circus song, some indian music bullshit clearly made by a dilettante, gay paul mccartney vaudevillian filler, etc. then A Day In A Life which is actually good. But in the end it feels like something is missing from this album and I can't help to feel underwhelmed in general by the whole album experience. I'm not a beatles fan but I can get why people love Revolver or Abbey Road, but this is just kinda shit honestly and seems to be carried by the cover and marketing

inb4 boyband, barney, toejam fags come and derail the thread

Literally kill yourself faggot(s), get a fucking life or do us all a solid and end it

Magical Mystery Tour is better anyways, despite it being an ametic Compilation

It was missing Strawberry Fields Forever and Penny Lane. They were supposed to be in the album instead of When I’m 64 and Lovely Rita, but they were taken off and released as singles. British record companies had this odd hang up about not putting singles in albums. They were afraid people would feel like they were paying for the same song twice. George Martin said not including those two songs was the biggest mistake of his career.

I thought the story went that they were originally planning to make an album about childhood, with Strawberry Fields/Penny Lane being the first two songs they made of that concept. But Brian Epstein forced them to release those two singles to keep up their relevancy, which then made them start from scratch and create the Sgt. Pepper concept

George Martin later said that they should have included those songs on Pepper in hindsight and it likely would have been Rita/64 to get the boot

The Beach Boys BTFO. Listen to Smile Sessions instead OP. It's pretty much what people like to pretend Sgt. Pepper's is.

I also thought Pet Sounds was underwhelming too so my hopes aren't high

I also thought Pet Sounds was underwhelming

unplug your ears and litsen to it again

I have, it's fucking boring. Brian Wilson had a mental breakdown when he heard Strawberry Fields because he couldn't make something that good, or was the first to do it. Sorry to shatter your world but you're not automatically cool for listening to the Beach Boys

and Paul McCartney seethed when he heard Good Vibrations, and you are a retard.

Yeah and he followed it up with several classic songs and albums while Brian Wilson had a schizophrenic meltdown and couldn't finish his masterpiece. Again not a beatles fan but I'd much rather be Macca than Wilson in that position

you're not automatically cool for listening to the Beach Boys

im sorry you have to be a contrarian

Pet Sounds was conceived because Brian Wilson heard Rubber Soul

You know you are listening to a 60 year old album right.

The Beatles are good in context because they basically invented fire/ first listenable music but apart from that there’s not much to be blown away by.
Respect it but don’t need to like it haha

they basically invented fire/ first listenable music

words spoken by someone who has listened to no music from the 1960s except for the beatles.

That's silly, there's many contemporaries that made music which still holds up today. And my problem with Sgt. Pepper is that it doesn't hold up (well some songs sound a bit dated but that's apart from the point), it's just not as quality as some of their other albums like Revolver or Abbey Road which I'm more impressed by

Yeah I thought this was the common opinion? That the album falls off after the first four tracks. I at least always switch off the record at that point because I just get bored of the music

White Album is better

a lot of people rate revolver and the white album above sgt. peppers. maybe even abbey road. i'm a white album guy myself.

Every single poster here should commit suicide, you all have terrible taste.

The album would have been so much better with those two songs. My reimagined tracklist for Sgt. Pepper with those two songs goes like Sgt Pepper - With A Little Help - LSD - Penny Lane - Lovely Rita - Mr. Kite - 64 - Strawberry Fields - Within You - Getting Better - Fixing A Hole - She's Leaving Home - Good Morning - Reprise - A Day In The Life. Far superior

For a while this was considered one of the greatest albums of all time

Already ruined your thread. It just outsold a lot of other albums, it's nowhere near the best. Abbey Road is ten times more interesting and has more longevity than baby's first acid trip: the album.

I entered your thread to accuse you of being a teenager for never having heard this album but then your end your post by telling people to kiln themselves which earned my respect

The Beatles have always been shitty pop music for boomers and people who think they're cool and unique for listening to 60 year old slop instead of freshly released slop

This is interesting. Anon Babble hated this band before 2016, so to see you write literal paragraphs about them without getting bullied is weird. You definitely wouldn't have enjoyed it here back then.

Rude of you to ignore ops request

Anon Babble never hated the Beatles

No album that does not contain A Day in the Life can be rated above any album that does not contain A Day in the Life.

How can you not like fixing a hole anon? It’s good but not their best. I’d take rubber soul, revolver, the white album and abbey road over it.

Let's all be real for a second, both of them are nowhere near Bob Dylan, also the Beatles stole the idea for Norwegian Wood from iirc 4th time around, some would say it's actually the other way around "DURRRR B-B-BUT IT CAME OUT AFTER" but it's just incorrect, Dylan was rehearsing it when a few Beatles were hanging out with him then they went in the studio and stole it

You’re a freak

Such a shame that people hate Toejam Fag, since he is a life long Beatles fan, and he only shows up to defend Te Beatles, and Beatles fans.
Tojam Fag HATES Boyband Fag as much as the rest of you.
In fact, if Boyband Fag disappeared, Toejam Fag would also stop posting.

But, let's not talk about Toejam Fag, or Boyband Fag, since that would be off topic.

Let's talk about Sgt. Pepper, shall we?
I can see your point, and understand your opinion about Sgt. Pepper.
Even John Lennon himself renounced it two years after it was released.

Personally, it's not a favorite of mine, either, but it was rather ground breaking for it's time.

I still think Sgt. Pepper is GOAT, but not the first Beatles album I'd gravitate towards. Basically Revolver and MMT are my two favortie albums from their so called "Psychedelic" era. I'm more of a fan of the early stuff, but, as a life long Beatles fan, I don't believe they ever put out a bad album, just some bad songs, but there are only three of those, I M H O.

Have you listened to Sgt Pepper in MONO?
I like the mono version more than the stereo version, especially Getting Better.

Also, you may not be familiar with the bonus hidden track. (Most people aren't)

I've noticed that Boyband Fag hasn't been stinking up the Beatles threads lately.
As long as nobody mentons either Boybad Fag, or Toejam Fag, they won't post, and when Byband Fag goes away, so will Toejam Fag. They are mortal enemies who hate each other, and will fight to the death.

Anyway, here's the hidden track from Sgt Pee that most people don't know about...

youtube.com/watch?v=R702CsfTfY0

IT WAS A FAKE MUSTACHE

MMT was only released as an album in The U.S. at the time.
It was originally an e.p. only containing the songs from the TV special.

Smiley Smile>Pet Sounds

Brian Wilson was the only creative vassal and his cousin was playing the heel with no hint of kayfabe.
Macca had Lennon and even George (Martin) to be inspired by.

Listens to Strawberry Fields Forever once....

And yet, Paul McCartney was invited to participate in the recording sessions of Smile.....

Really makes you think......

The question remains, was it the mono version or the stereo version?
We all know it was the U.S. version.....

Show us how it's done.

NO YOU.jpg - 640x454, 31.05K

The Beatles were hard men

ofc this homo would know

Lemmy.jpg - 964x1024, 155.82K

You were told not to participate in this thread.
P made it very clear.
But OH, NO...!
You just couldn't show respect, and now I have to fight you, yet again........
You know if you stop posting I'll go away.
We are both universally hated and despised on Anon Babble especially in Beatles threads...

USE REAL SLURS PUSSY FAGGOT

I mean that song is okay, not a favorite since it’s kind of meandering. It signals a downfall in the album

yeah Iv'e just Seen a Face sets the tone. Sounds of Silence was the in thing not post Help slop like Baby you can Play my Bing Bing Wahoo

Okay toejam fag I’m sorry, but part of me is still convinced that you and boyband fag are all the same person

The Americans had a better idea starting the idea with that song than Drive My Car

Drive my Car is a clear single and derivative of not only previous Beatles tunes but every wannabe big beater at the time. which may have been the point because Macca and John were ironic fucks.
Seen a Face into Norweigian wood is soul incarnate.
plus the American/Canadian version lets Think for yourself's badass fuzz bass (actually 2 bass tracks) breathe and properly standout by taking away If I Needed Someone another derivative (Byrds) shitter.
Brian absolutely inspired by that double bass track of Think for yourself no doubt.
i used to envision 40 years ago as a young Beatlemaniac a version where Its Only Love was replaced by that 12 bar original Booker T imitation (which i had on a bootleg well before nathology) but the earnesty of I.O.L. worked it's way into the tracklist. what Capitol records jew was responsible for that final tracklist and why is there not a documentary on him? feat. a fawning Brian of course

This. Show

Regardless of it being derivative or not, I just don’t like the song and don’t think it’s a good opener that’s representative of the album’s song. Not the boyband fag but that sing gives me a big boyband vibe like you’re listening to the Jonas Brothers or some shit

I also don’t like The Word or the last track and replace them with We Can Work It Out/Day Tripper, along with I’ve Just Seen a Face of course. Then the album is very solid with that tracklist

We Can work it Out would be a decent Word replacement on planet boyband only though. excellent standalone A side liek it's other A side Day tripper. too showy for a COLLECTION of songs (aka ART)
the Word is english proto hippy motown incarnate and necessary for the diverse Rubber Soul (US/Can) track flow. yeah maybe on the ENglish press. the Word is a lowlight.
are you trying to state Run for yourlife a timeless ode to american cowboy chad antics is to be replaced? probably Brians fave rave he is of the same ilk of Jerry Lee ie: married a younging who literally beater keep her head little girl

Dylan mostly sucks.

how do you listen to it in mono

What’s your favorite Beatles album anon?

IMG_1396.jpg - 1000x700, 71.92K

On Spotify the tracks without any additions after are the mono versions. Or torrent the 2014 mono box set. Or both.

It took me a while to realize but the worst song is George's saaaaaaaar track.

i'm not sure i can tell the difference
i'll try later

You can go to your music players options and choose to listen to it in mono. I usually use it for when I'm listening to One Direction whenever I need to start stimming

Also try mono versus stereo I’m looking through you. Imo the mono version makes the song and the stereo sounds like shit.

just unplug one speaker/ear bud. it's not that hard. fucking zoomers man....

unplug one ear bud

How do you unplug that which has no plug?

STOP DERAILING MY FUCKING THREAD YOU FAGGOTS!

This is /beatles/ general now
