Also I would have enjoyed playing bass much more if I had bought a Musicman Stingray (the bass I wanted) instead of a mid-high end Yamaha. Should've saved up. I knew I fucked up when I played a Stingray in a shop and it was so much nicer to play than the garbage action on that faggot John Myung Yamaha. the difference between most pickups and woods is mostly just frequency response
maybe pickups can have different sustain or attack or some other shit (that depends on the height too ig) but the tone is genuinely 90% signal processing in the preamp and the biggest difference between a cheap amp and an expensive amp is the speaker quality because the electronics are digital anyway

Very much depends on the circuit. Many turn off when the jack is unplugged as plugging it in turns it on, so if you unplug it when you finish it could last a six months, year or more.
Some however are always on if it has a active switch that is on, even if it is unplugged. If I recall Fender American Ultra Jazz Bass has this issue.
Realistically if you are a heavy player you should not be using more than 2-3 a year if you don't leave the circuit on.
