Melodic death metal sounds like a great idea in theory but in practice... eh, not so much. :(

Metal for this jubilation?

At the Gates did the whole ouroboros on us, Slaughter of the Soul is the only album of that kind to be considered.

weirdly enough I prefer the black dahlia murder even though they started out as a deliberate at the gates ripoff band

Slaughter of the Soul

I loved The Red in the Sky is Ours and subsequently hated SotS. It's this exact style of melodeath that just sounds like metalcore to me without the breakdowns. Just boring, washed out death metal to me

Sorry when I listened to SotS metalcore didn't exist and I still don't understand what Metalcore is supposed to be.
I looked it up and sometimes it's just hardcore with solos and death metal vocals, sometimes it's heavy metal with death vocals, sometimes it's melodeath with breakdowns, etc...

Gorguts - Obscura

it's OK but I don't get the hype

Metalcore existed before SotS but it sounded much different to what people think metalcore is today.

I get it, but "old" Metalcore was Metal + Hardcore in a way that didn't really fit "crossover", and had nothing to do with At the Gates.
Now Metalcore doesn't make sense as a genre or subgenre hence why I don't get it.

kys

Metalcore is shit like Merauder and early Walls of jericho. Slayer thrash riffs with breakdowns.
Melodic metalcore takes everything from Slaughter of the soul and adds breakdowns to it e.g. the first Parkway drive album. But now it has been bastardized even further with clean singing choruses and shit.

Heavy Metal, Thrash Metal, Power Metal, Speed Metal were essentially created by Judas Priest before Maiden stopped touring clubs and released their first demo, Extreme Metal was inspired by Venom and Motorhead.
Iron Maiden is the normie cop out.

Extreme Metal was inspired by Venom and Motorhead.

Also I just checked and fucking Terror is on MA, lol. Not Madball though...who play the same fucking style of hardcore/metalcore since like 2000.

blasting my throat with coffee at noon
SotS sounded great the first time and got worse the more I relistened, still not awful though. Meanwhile TRITSIO and WFIKTBD are massive growers.

Of course there is the shadow of Judas Priest especially over Death Metal, and there are multiple minor bands in between Motorhead and Venom, but they are the core sources.
Even the "classic Maiden Sound" is just Judas Priest's Stained Class declined over and over.

Melodic metalcore

That's what I should said earlier when I wrote that SotS sounds like metalcore to me. The stuff with the clean singing is even worse.

Please Hector, take your antipsychotics, you're beginning to show signs of delusional thinking.

Is there any band that every regular in this thread can agree on as kicking ass?

Wrong. But it is a good album nonetheless. Danzig has a great voice but is overrated btw.

Wut if anything Danzig is underrated, he had to carry the entire Misfits on his back creating his own label, same with Samhain, and only got noticed 20 years later, and the first 4 Danzig album are the pinnacle of bluesy Metal.
Like, the dude printed his own vinyl for 20 years and was underground, how the fuck is he overrated, if anything Misfits only got mainstream recognition through Metallica despite being the root of so much and Samhain, probably one of the greatest Rock/Post Punk (literally) bands ever, is till fucking underground.

If only more people actually listened to the Misfits instead of just buying their T-shirts

I wanted to reply to this honestly but then I read that you think the fucking Misfits are underrated? Doesn't matter that they changed singers as many poser bitches wear the t-shirt with that fucking skull as the Iron maiden posers. Also, Danzig the band is a huge name. How the fuck is he underrated?
As I've said he has a great voice but I don't like that he tries so much to mimic Elvis. Graves mogs him. Famous monsters is the best Misfits album followed by Walk among us.

I nominate Slayer, Morbid Angel, and Mayhem

Doubt I have anything to rec you haven't checked

Eh I have a lot of blind spots these days because I've been slowly clipping out what genres I pay attention too. This year for instance I haven't even really looked at progressive metal besides following bands I already know such as Aquilus/Night Verse. The only genres I look at anymore are dissonant or neoclassical. Been moving over to a lot of actual classical in the meantime since there is more to learn about there compared to metal which has too many repetitions and a lack of development.

Listening to your whole chart atm, I actually have been ignoring the avant scene a lot recently (since dissonance is basically no longer tied to its perception) so its a nice kick in my ass to go check it out more.

Siderean

This is a bit of an interesting band for their place in relation to the perception of others, its interesting in that dissonance is now so accepted into metal that something like this doesn't even garner a dissonant death subtag on RYM anymore. There is that forced meme going around about "safe horny", which I guess this is like "safe dissonance" ala Immolation, where even old bald men can figure it out. Selbst is like the black metal version of that or something.

Ingurgitating Oblivion

This one I had istened to before and had me really hyped at that time. It was really really good, maybe even equal to Imperial Triumphant - however the lead work is just unforgivable, sounds like someone was just told to shred some random scales and then they were edited in at the whim of a dartboard or dice roll. I've never heard an album so utterly ruined by leads like that before, truly a crime to have done that to the record. I can only assume it was improvised or something, at least I hope so.

夢遊病者

This is pretty cool actually, thanks. I think in the past I would be more pointed about if this fulfills the ethos of metal, but I hardly care anymore, regular metal is simply too boring.

Famous monsters is the best Misfits album

Night Verse are surprisingly captivating for that vein of instrumental wank yeah. Aquilus didn't make as much of an impression on me is time but I didn't dive deep on it.

I hear ya, I enjoy straight black/death done well like those on your chart but far too much is generic and rote. doom, folk, pagan etc are no different but I'm a bit more forgiving and endeared to their novelty and penchant for emotive female vox as seen in the rest of my chart.

Siderean

yeah the tech/prog duo is a pretty convenient combo that I run into more and more usually to intriguing results, sort of bridges over dissonance, the post-post trend that just won't die but hey it's better than djent or the melo culdesac.

IO

eh that's often the nature of the beast isn't it, how many of these groups pumping out 20m behemoths really utilize composition. still I find them harrowing

I have a hunch you disdain symphonic but speaking of composition he really leans into that 70s prog cosmic-concept album to great effect, one of my favorites in recent memory.

Ætheria Conscientia

Some alright chords, horns, and prog metal... but you know honestly these days the second I hear double bass drum + steady snare + single voice tremolo line all repeated over and over again I just want to retch. Black metal is so formulaic and uninteresting to me, can't stand listening to such lazy nonsense, especially when its not even about aggression. Atmospheric BM is every bad aspect of black metal, only emphasized. Did you listen to the new Paysage? I thought it was fucking awful, think I gave it like a 1/10 or something. I wish Aquilus would drop the tropes that come from the genre, honestly I probably overate them these days from my nostalgia, but obviously for most others its still a good rec.

It could honestly be said at this point I would just prefer these guys to drop the "black metal" entirely and simply commit to playing prog. Nothing good about splicing in some lazy BM in between better music.

Sumac

Too repetitive, all atmospheric metal is an incoherent mess; for it is too boring to listen to if you pay attention, but as metal it demands your attention anyways, especially with the banging gimmick percussion the genre is hypnotized by, so it fails to accomplish being furniture music.

The jazz idea of a riff providing a beat and then improving on top tends to result in a feeling of the static, as in non-movement. Its like a virtual racing car simulator, sure it feels like something is going on, but then you realize you are just sitting still in your car with a vibrating seat and flashing blurry monitors.
That being said, if you are into improvisation... Have you listened to Mastery yet?

youtube.com/watch?v=R5sRnTLFrNM

20m behemoths really utilize composition

So few... the worst are those older style bands like Incantation who can't even write a coherent 3 minute track and then try writing a 16 minute long composition where most of it is just random riffs that could be placed in any order lmao.

I have a hunch you disdain symphonic

Uhhhh, yes, kind of, but I'm probably even more disgusted by atmospheric bm instead, due to what I wrote in that other post about it being at odds with itself. Symphonic metal is just... the idea of instrumental variety is something I am in vast favor of, but in regards to casio synths over blast beats? I could live without that. If you want to bring in flutes, xylophones, horns, and such while doing it well, then by all means I am all aboard that train ( I love Fleshvessel for instance). Its just that """""""symphonic"""""" is usually just synths, and they are used in the cheesiest most gratuitous way imaginable by people who have no conception of even basic textures beyond single voice riffs with constant percussion gimmicks such as blasts.

Total schizophrenia.

what's you opinion on Chelsea Wolfe?

Used to really like her stuff, especially Ἀποκάλυψις, but ultimately her rock roots means shes boring to listen to after you wake up and stop listening to popslop. Anna von Hausswolff is far better.

where'd the metal go? it's all zeuhl!

Never did latch onto that tradition of raw and simple

Has to be one of the worst things that metal ever decided should be a thing, actual ambient or electronic at least has timbre variation. As I said, the percussion and vocals in metal are totally against being furniture music, the entire idea is a catastrophe to begin with.

no shot you digested in full

I mean Yellow Dawn literally plays the same riff for the majority of the 12 minute long song, its not a very complicated piece that I might think I had simply not comprehended it properly. I'm more interested in form and development than hearing musicians bounce ideas off each other on the spot honestly.

Mastery

Originally I wrote it off as total and utter nonsense... which it is, BUT, its also highly energetic and highly engaging nonsense simply because of the lack of repetitions and quickness of how it cuts through each section. Its like listening to the most jagged thrash album ever made, but without the staleness that comes from playing music like metal usually does in the AAAAABBBBBBAAAAAACCCCCAAAAAA (ABACA) or any other variation of things like this such as AAAAABBBBBCCCCBBBBBCCCAAAA

If you are into Mastery already and have a clear interest in improv, then I take it you know of Skin Tension already?

Metalfags love talking about the same popslop for so long that I can only assume this is also why they like "riffs", because now the music is as repetitive as their minds, stuck in perpetual circles forever, poor sods!

Either way I'm out once the other poster doesn't feel like replying, or our conversation naturally dead ends. No point in sticking around to read yet one more "discussion" on if one Iron Maiden album is better than another, where the key "arguments" are "x good, y bad" replied to with "no x bad, y good!".

Face reality, /metal/ is a fucking joke. Most people here listen to more kpop and Taylor than metal. No wonder they think shitty gimmicks like blasts are an endless source of inspiration. BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG BANG, must be what their mothers did to their head to end up this fucking stupid.

Conceding would be to even think about some random idiot at all when making a decision on if to stay here or not. The thing that is important to me is what I'm getting out of this place, which is very little. The IQ of Anon Babble has dropped tremendously these past years, and the population is not growing or gaining new posters, in fact its dying. There will be no greater horizon or better times, this is all this place will ever be.

Sicking around here just to "own" some irrelevant loser and an orbitor everyday is only "owning" myself as my time is wasted on low iq mongrels who will die listening to and most importantly THINKING worthless nonsense till they die.

Anyways, looks like Kato left so I don't really have a reason to be here anymore. Will go back to the art history lectures that are much more interesting than listening to post-African repetitions while someone discusses the latest Linkin Park album or whatever other travesty they call music (or metal) shitting into their ears.

nope, Skin Tension has evaded my radar but I'm liking the bandcomps seeing Kayo Dot one of my lodestars. will have to check along with Ferocity, the 90s/early00s seem to be a depthless cache of weird unique albums, now again reinvented in recent years - hello again Sleepytime Gorilla Museum

I take it you are into supremacism (the art form)?

seeing Kayo Dot one of my lodestars

Ah, now that Kayo Dot and improv are mentioned, am I to assume you already know of Ehnahre then? Quite literally one of my favorite bands ever, The Marrow is something I consider to be a bit of a marvel and a blueprint for what I envision a better path for future metal to take. If you haven't then ignore every single other rec I gave including my chart this instant, instead listen to this start to finish:

youtube.com/watch?v=Zud-xcs4qxE

neoclassical plagued with similar problems

Neoclassical metal has a lot of issues, chief among them being the focus on the single guitarist and his technical skill, if they would treat it more like an artform such as Jason Becker did, there would be a lot more potential, mostly because one guitarist (no matter what the skill is) is rather limited in texture, and also timbre and so on. The main reason for me liking the genre is simply because it has less repetitions, a melody is not just a repeated riff, its actually going somewhere, development! Shocking! The truth is I would rather listen to some candy melodies and scales that are going somewhere than yet another stagnant circular "non linear" (aka going fucking no where) approach of most metal.

I think First Fragment really showcased that the genre was barely even developed at all in the 80s, and the strange mix of classical counterpoint with syncopation/swing really was a fantastic idea I haven't heard elsewhere. Now the vocals and drumming are uh... incoherent to say the least, and I think if they did a "power metal" style (and actually used percussion as a TOOL instead of a metal gimmick) then the genre would have a lot more respect to it.

I guess I'm curious how differentiable and distinct one can find First Fragment to the glut of imitative power-prog. is it a trained musician thing? they're technically impressive sure and I do like them but isn't the form of shredding and emotive crescendo core what you typically look down on? are they an exception or do you have a power sweet-spot. I like a fair bit of the cream of the crop but still most is too cheesy and trite for me

ah I see, posted before last reply

Is Blueprint better?

ULTRA BASED

You're ultra based, you fucking guy.

To be fair calling drums a metal gimmick is unfair, since its really a ROCK or even JAZZ, or even MARCHING BAND gimmick. Of all the instruments to exist, it is the worst gimmick to have ever existed that isn't an even worse percussion like the triangle. Actually the triangle is more respectable because at least no one has ever bothered to constantly hit it for 5-60 minutes straight.

That being said, if it must exist, then it should be jazz flavored, rock and metal drumming is fucking awful.

Yeah sorry, ninja'd you there with

suprematism

Kamdinsky and abstract expressionism generally sure though not any limited specific or deeply knowledgeable way, am a STEM fag layman that should've majored in humanities. these are Julie Mehretu pieces.

Ehnahre

mm I remember this album art from the 2008 debut but will have to revisit and check the marrow

do you like the direction Kayo Dot has taken over Toby's career? I think Dowsing is still slept on and everyone hyped Hubardo as a return to form but it also felt stifling, I'm glad he keeps evolving

so what's your take on the 2nd coming of jesus christ Tobin and Animals as Leaders? pure wank or stimulating? it's a bit much for me to swallow, I'd rather a more holistic experimental or jam fusion post based if less metal approach than the "math" or polyphia trend.

lol that's funny, didn't realize but totally makes sense for Shinkai. no I mean, I've been riding with him since 2007 Program Music with its modern classical glitched intense drum&bass but I don't usually fuck with too much anime adjacent music

This is the kind of music I would play in my swanky NYC apartment to seduce a redheaded, freckled, big tiddy, big nose, Jewish girl

Not metal.

amdinsky and abstract expressionism generally sure

Ah I see, I was just wondering since the abstract shapes is that sort of thing, I don't know too many contemporary artists like this Julie Mehretu myself, I'm not one for that style, but I do prefer it to be more pure in the abstract geometry rather than the strange background scribbles she adds there. I can only assume that image is about the mixing of cultures, races, and nations; what with all the obvious flags, crosses, etc. Actually not very abstract the longer I look at it, there are literal world flags all over the place in it.

the 2008 debut

That one is certainly good if you are a metal fan wanting more of the same metal, to me its good and certainly a hard album to approach, sort of like a twelve tone Obscura era Gorguts album. REally thought the point at which they become extraordinary to me is on Douve when the metal becomes completely entwined with the classical ideas they had on Old Earth, and then more importantly The Marrow is like the full fruition of electroacoustic meets metal, and its so wonderful. Taming the Cannibals might also be an album you would enjoy a lot of, much more "metal", but very improvisational feeling and utterly chaotic.

Kayo Dot

Honestly I don't know much about them because I find the whispers and spoken word to ruin everything for me. Its not really dark enough to make me look over something like that either, its kind of post-rocky but also a bit saccharine for myself. Sorry!

I like him, his playing is unique (before people copied him) and I think the music is nice to listen to. There are a million other bands I would pick AaL over in a heart beat, like would I rather listen to them or some usual black metal? No contest his music is much better put together. The thing about them is that each moment has something to listen to and pick out, and the transitions between each idea are usually very smooth, which is infinitely more than most metal bands who just go from one riff to another with no coherence at all.

I don't really think about wank or how hard something is or isn't to play, only whats actually going on with the music, and his stuff is much better than most metal in a moment to moment, yet also as a song. He at least understands how to evolve and expand a riff into multiple ideas that he guides you through, its (usually) had some thought put into it, even if that thought was a way to lead to a point where he can showcase his skill. In a way his style is sort of like variations on a theme where the idea is changed and contorted multiple times before the ending.

Polyphia

I actually like that new album when its instrumental hehehe, its light hearted moment to moment stuff with a lot going on, which is better than light hearted stuff with basically nothing going on. His melodies are genuinely good, Playing God is catchy. Also I would ravage Timberly no lie.

Until the next time you sperg out and have a melty

Also yeah that painting is almost surely about the mixing of cultures, races, and nations. Its crazy how this happens everytime. These people are a disease.

Ok, but try writing that out without tears running down your face.

kek you're already malding
you have the emotional stability of a black woman

Having another melty, orbitor?

nah that's you

Tobin is certainly brilliant enough to write coherent pieces no doubt I guess I'd just prefer him in a more traditional ensemble. the jazz fusion whorling nylon tone bends and dominant plink plonking bass strings just flattens out into monotony for me. I'd rather listen to acoustic classical guitar

the whispers and spoken word to ruin everything for me

1 or 2 egregious tracks come to mind but I think you're missing out on a lot of brilliant compositions that play with structure you ought be interested in. I insist you jam these tracks off Choirs of the Eye.

That was their peak of focal metal intensity so the follow up Dowsing was intentionally exploring the opposite, a sort of sonic nadir of deconstructive propagation while still being pretty intense and cacophonous

actually might be too methodical and plodding for you realizing you heavily prioritize uptempo freneticism but nonetheless

Guadalajaran Grind

what is this?

Grindcore from Guadalajara, Mexico

Is "Det Som En Gang Var" the greatest black metal song of all places and times?

I'd rather listen to acoustic classical guitar

That is something I can definitely get behind, or obviously just any classical really regardless of instrument. Its just usually the comparison is between metal and I prefer him over most metal bands.

you're missing out on a lot of brilliant compositions

Yeah, like I never thought they made bad or even mediocre music, just that when you listen to the album and the ASMR sections come on it really makes me want to just head to the x button and stop that asap.

And I do genuinely like their dynamics, compositions, etc, buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuut what I want from classical to metal is for it to match the ethos or underlying feeling of metal, something dark and aggressive that adds the dynamics and other ideas that metal seems to have forgotten. Y'know, less Arvo Part and more Bartok or Penderecki. To go along with that, I don't want metal to be just a finale, or a 30 second climax like Kayo Dot does in Wayfarer, I want it to be metal, but as if a classical composer made it. To me Kayo Dot is like post-rock with a little hint of metal as a seasoning.

Compare that to something like this:
youtube.com/watch?v=E508NzVOU3c
Its this eerie and tension filled beginning from what sounds like aleatoric rain-like percussion with harsh metal throaty vocals all over that, eventually that leads to a prominent drone repetition from a distorted guitar, and as it builds and builds eventually the vocals reappear from the waterfall as huge droning waves of distorted chords are added and more and more electroacoustics happen, till all is silenced for the chords to ring out with still no resolution in sight, then eerie sonorist horns begin and finish it all in a total cacophony before fading away with the lightest of light percussion you have ever heard. This is in a way a large crescendo, but not one of post-rock, and the total opposite of saccharine, this is harsh, its aggressive, its ugly music. Thats what metal is about.

Also didn't have space to fit this, but Ludwig Meidner is fantastic, I love all the catastrophic imaginary he made, the colors he uses are fantastic and the way he constructs his scenes you can really feel the chaos that being bombed must have been like. Its like a visual earthquake before your eyes in a still image.

Also please use the second youtube link "A Wandering Fire", the "Ceiling of Insects" one with the deleted post was a mislink.

actually might be too methodical and plodding for you realizing you heavily prioritize uptempo freneticism but nonetheless

Yes and no, I think I prioritize freneticism in metal because its such a boring genre otherwise. I mean listening to some guy smacking his snare drum over and over and over and over again while the same theme is repeated on end is just awful music, its boring! However if you actually construct PROPER music that evolves and develops on some level then I can take something very methodical and even meditative.

For instance I love Durufle and he has plenty of songs which are the very opposite of frenetic, hes known for his contemplative writing. Hell one even has meditation in the name of the composition.

Ehnahre themselves have a drone tag for a reason too. Its just you actually have to write something of worth for me to accept a methodical slow piece, but if you are writing crap music the least you can do is offer some emotional aspect like raw energy, or don't just play the same thing for minutes at time. Its one thing to be crap, its another to be boring crap. Metal to me has a niche in its energy and aggression that other genres don't hold in nearly the same amounts, so I do prioritize it here because most metal is worse than crap, its a factory machine on a drum, a monkey on the mic, and a wind up toy for a guitarist.

Remember that old demo tape you recorded in high school you forgot was in your mom's attic? I can release that on vinyl for you

He's too autistic to let a label interfere with his artistic freedoms

yea linking Wayfarer was definitely a mistake in the context of this conversation but it is a favorite of mine because I do love how well it does that romatic posty baroque crescendo but the 2nd track The Antique takes a totally different reverse approach quickly constructing a lumbering machine and stalking it's elongated trajectory into decay and like I was saying the follow up album Dowsing actually has a lot in common with this Ehnahre track right down the syncopated percussive dronescape and demented vocals on something like Gemini Becoming the Tripod or the dispersed cacophony with hollowed out center of On Limpid Form

youtube.com/watch?v=qan-CsyMM8I
youtube.com/watch?v=6mhZXjN4M7k

oh yeah big time but I'll admit I haven't listened to hundreds of albums like metal to grow tired or hone a refined taste in that sphere

And thats a GOOD THING.

never trust a metal head that doesn't worship the power of the riff

working a new song called "Crushed Under Walls of Text (Essays of the Pseud)"

actually has a lot in common with this Ehnahre track

Well Ryan did play in Kayo Dot for the first two albums, although honestly I only listened to the first album from Kayo Dot and maybe one other later one which drove me off the band entirely. I heard they only got less metal after Ryan left so I didn't bother pressing into their discography much. Gemini is definitely more something I would like, I still much prefer Ehanhre's compositions because it is so much more sinster and ugly, plus I think its built up better and Toby's psuedo-harsh vocals are second rate plus sound whiny at times. This is probably the most metal I've heard them sound however, glad Ryan took this idea and really extracted a more perfected form (for me) of it using modern classical techniques like serialism, soundclusters, aloeric, and electroacoustic elements.

Limpid form was a to me a disaster, not sure why the drum is in the piece, providing a "beat" is not really something required, it's so saccharine but the drum is just ruining the entire experience, and then the rock n roll solo... terrible composition if I'm to be honest, had to turn it off after that solo. I can tolerate some drumming for the beat for metal because I don't really have an option to not have it there, but if you are playing something so close to classical in feeling, then why are you adding some rock n roll solos and a beat? Totally incoherent.

oh yeah big time but I'll admit I haven't listened to hundreds of albums like metal to grow tired or hone a refined taste in that sphere

Same here, there are genres I like such as d&b (which is probably because I played vidya with it when I was younger), but yeah I haven't exactly touched on all breakcore has to offer or anything. Igorrr your thing as well?

youtube.com/watch?v=uKcAMo4rcWk

Bit too sporky for me...

Never trust a music fan who believes riffs are anything but a gimmick for the uneducated.

Hey Heck what did you think of this album

679244.jpg - 396x396, 44.08K

hehe well can't say you weren't a good sport. album bounced off me hard at first too, drugs helped really get immersed and explore but maybe that was just the drugs! I would say yes the "rock and roll" solos are a trademark but I love how they're in that wrenching David Gilmour register and often juxtaposed with violins and bizarre arrangements making them really pop or etching how stark the contrasting piece is. the drums are the connective tissue that give skeletal form and punctuate the slowly evolving drone!

I will happily chug down an Igorr album like a cold beer. I'd say that project is right on that line for me of too random. He keeps the plates spinning without excessive diversion or indulgence. I don't quite get the vitriol I've seen against him specifically

headed off for now, thanks for the chat

I love this Jap like you wouldn't believe.

Yep. Mexico is in the top 3 for grindcore scenes

We love left and right guitar splitting here, in that that is my favorite way to have them (god bless Ad Nauseam). If you want to hear a very cool album that has dual guitars, dual drums, and dual drums that are all split left and right then listen to one of the albums I used to post around here.

youtube.com/watch?v=_aD5sZWUfvI

Besides that, Chaos Echoes are pretty cool, seems like they can get a bit stuck on an idea such as track three basically just being one theme played start to finish, which I'm assuming is because this is improvisational based? They could do with some more development instead of letting the drummer show off his skills over some tremolo drones for minutes at a time such as one track four. Good musicians, like the guitar split, nice quality drumming, but this is a bit of an unfinished product I'm afraid.

Eh yeah if you like I don't have much against the band honestly, they make good proper music unlike 99% of metal, its just not really my thing. Obviously I think you are into more fusion-y, post-rock, and jazz ideas I think, so I imagine the drums and solos are a bonus rather than a negative to you.

don't quite get the vitriol I've seen against him specifically

Didn't even know that was a thing, I mean to be honest I can always listen to him, I just wouldn't play it given other options. Never really knew people were excessively against him though.

headed off for now, thanks for the chat

Yeah you too, was a good meeting for sure. Like I said, if you can't find me here in the future then I linked my RYM before, I might lurk a bit here looking for the "Hey Heck" poster, but would be very sparse besides that I think.

in that that

in fact* that

dual guitars, dual drums, and dual drums

dual guitars, dual bass*, and dual drums

Bit tired I think. Forgive me.

Still laughing at that painting about mixing all the world's nations being made by a bagel baker btw, I swear these parasites are biggest disgrace to have ever existed, "gods chosen", I only wonder if it wasn't some horrible demon of putrification as their "god" with how they act.
