Qott: how did you get into hardcore?
/hardcore general/
Hardcore is for chumps.
Every time there's a hardcore thread some guy pops up just to shit on Henry Rollins
I nominate this fuckin dork to be shat on too
Can HC fans explain something to me? Is modern SxE just an excuse to fight? I heard that these crews won't tolerate nazis and stomp them, but if anybody turned up dressed remotely 'gay' or emo, they'd get stomped too. What's the appeal?
There are barely any fights in hardcore anymore
this desu
punk and hardcore scenes in the US have unironically been overrun by a feminine wave
both in gender and behavior, if you go to hardcore or adjacent shows you will see a disproportionate amount of nu-males
the todd kowalski songs still hit amazingly 20 years later. chris hannah's too, but i mean come on, fucking Bullshit Politicians cannot be outdone
If I love Propagandhi and some of the breakdowns in Rage Against the Machine songs (Year of the Boomerang) what else can I listen to that makes you feel energized and motivated? At least for me, I feel like that when listening to those groups.
Obv. I Spy, but looking for others
White guilt band
Lmao
Scream, Articles of Faith, 7seconds, Electric Chair
that's like half of hardcore
Is there some Hardcore punk against the jews/Israel? We need to show our support to Palestine. Nazi punk fuck but we HATE the JEWS HERE!
Good bands.
I grew up in Chicago and saw AOF quite a few times.
(Vic Bondi is a jerk, though)
Scream just had a reunion and passed through town, recently. Good show.
I didn't choose hardcore
Hardcore chose me
That's not how it works.
Does Oi! counts as hardcore or is this just some variety of street punk that's just a variety of normal punk?
Anyway here's some French classic hardcore by some guys from Syndrome 81.

"There ain't no circumstance that justifies
Ethnic based privilege state apartheid
State nationality rights only apply
To Jewish citizens all others are denied
Mass ethnic cleansing In 48
Forceful displacement to create an ethnic state
1488 million refugees still stuck outside
The (((birthright))) policy not valid for their kind
Denied existence "
I think Fat Mike even said this was his favorite album of all time on that one song from War on Errorism, but I never really got too into it other than the guitar playing. Milo's voice just never did it for me. Should I just relisten?
Try I dont want to grow up. More mature and more complex, moody even but still pop punk goodness. Their first album is more juvenile and more blink 182 with how they went with pop punk. It is a good record, solid, but I think they did much better with I dont want to grow up.
For me it's Pirate's Life.
What is hardcore as a genre?
I went to a local hardcore fest, first time going to an event, and the crowd made me laugh a bit. It was this perfect 50/50 split of middle aged boomer bikers, and visibly gay zoomers. Would never have imagined them hanging out, but everyone was cool. It was like those nature documentaries where lions and gazelles all show up to the same watering hole and drink right next to each other.
i somehow got into the sex pistols and ramones when i was like 15, not sure how but i liked it and i researched it and i guess black flag came up as a popular punk band so i checked it out. i remember playing nervous breakdown off the family computer and my dad being like 'what the fuck is this awful music'. from there i found minor threat and i think that's when it clicked with me. i started going to shows where shitty local bands were playing 2000s style hardcore and it wasn't what i was expecting, i was expecting guys with leather jackets and mohawks but it was actually guys in sneakers and cargo shorts.
hardcore was basically my life from age 16 to maybe age 22. that and skateboarding. i played in a bunch of different bands. at age 22 my political views shifted fairly right wing due to the european migrant crisis and i was made a social pariah because i said some vaguely right wing things. pretty much left the scene after that. moved to a different city and didn't know anyone so stopped going to shows. i'm 30 and have probably been to 3 shows in the past 8 years. one of them was seeing american nightmare when they first did a reunion tour and that was fun.
favorite hardcore bands of all time are
american nightmare

What was the story in the end with The Chisel getting beat up and cancelling their whole tour over it recently?
Wtf Mike Patton started hxc?
That crown of thornz is so underrated. Listen to their EP for some other good songs

Hadcore seems to bore me. I'm always disappointed and then start searching for even more extreme sounds. Nothing seems to satisfy the itch.
Hardcore was never meant to be the most extreme music out there. You should just listen to noisecore or soemthing if the most extreme sounds are all you're after.
i recently watched Green Room
is that /hardcore/ approved?
