Gnostic-Christian

oxymoron

The Dear Hunter

not really, it just means looking at the Bible through the lens of Gnosticism. i don't know if i believe in Gnosticism, i've experienced some things that make me think it is true, but i'm still not sure.

I have their entire discog on my Walkman now, so I’m discovering them bit by bit. Their weirdo 2012 collab album made quite an impression, but so far I haven’t had others grab me as much. Unsure what percentage I actually heard but it’s not a lot yet.
Good stuff though, like their 2 country albums, or songs I caught here and there

then you understand neither

what about it

It's so good.

girls laughed at him because he was fat and ugly

its cinema

it's like days of future passed but instead of focusing on the atmosphere, they just play their instruments in a (subtle) proggy way

Really? I just remember Suite in C being decent, the rest just sub par Monty python

*Suite 1, C is on that other album

JUSTICE FOR RODNEY

B-but at the end he bought rude books! With rude pictures in them!

oh is that the end already? No more skits? What a bad sequencing idea having them there is in the first place.
But then i guess that was all about mocking Robert having him read it.

Rodney did nothing wrong

The songs themselves are mostly better than I remembered, but the ‘humour’ is pretty grating.
Fascinating prequel to King and the Crimsons’ debut, though, hearing things like that Cruckster’s guitar, very Fripp

I'm trying not to summon a specific poster on this board, but how do you think the comedy of the cheerful insanity compares with the comedy of a certain Frank Z?

Giles Giles and Fripp is more serious musically speaking

ICV is better

Yeah, it’s not such a bother being just small skits between songs. But they are pretty bad though, those George ones might even be worse and more pointless than the Rodney thing.
And we’re in modern era where we can just skip them or even edit them out, this on vinyl means you have to suffer the skits each time.

And sort of like the other guy said, I don’t think I would mind the Zappa attempts at jokes if he let the music live and breathe more

This guy doesn't even know a man and his name is george

What do we think about Von Hertzen Brothers?

They definitely are worse, though

I don't know, I've listened to them so much when I was a young teenager they aren't so much jokes as sound poetry as far as I like them. So really a lot less impressive on a technical level and more just centering.

I especially hate when they do ‘the stupid voice’ in those George segments (same voice as when Monty python went HELLOW).
It’s rather odd because without those the album itself doesn’t seem that cheerfully insane

litchrelly hoo

Honest thoughts?

Paragraph 5 is the best song

I came to the conclusion i'm not into prog, i'm just into Magma, Gentle Giant, King Crimson and Camel. I especially don't care for Yes and Genesis.

holy shit its like if Pearls Before Swine had a bastard child with Sir Lord Baltimore

also obligatory it's prog since i forgot picrel

Eh, nothing too disagreeable but nothing too out of the ordinary either

rush

exorcist album

opinion discarded

You feel the lyrics, you don't understand them.
