AOTY hands down. It feels like the crowning achievement and culmination of everything pat has been doing over the last decade. Gone are the almost unlistenable harsh noise aspects in favour of a moderately lo-fi edge that doesn’t distract from the quality of the songwriting (it fact it only elevates it). And by god if there isn’t a bad song on here.

You’re welcome to your opinion, but I’d have to disagree. The mood is consistent throughout the album, but there’s so much stylistic variety on show (50s girl band pop, country, folk, rnb, synth-punk, surf rock, etc.) that it keeps me engaged throughout. Also you can say there’s no memorable licks, but I learned how to play the guitar part from darling of the discotheque simply because it was so memorable.

holy shit imagine thinking this lofi gimmick album is worthy of an all time title, i can forgive favorite of all year but its really nothing special, almost zero MOMENTS on the whole record
Pat perfected the Deerhunter/Atlas Sound aesthetic and did it better than they did. I'm impressed. Also this feels like a love letter to underground music in its release format. It's hard for casual listeners to bother checking it out when it's not on streaming services.

Honestly, it was a genius move NOT to put it on streaming. It shows you can do away with the middleman and release your material direct to fans for free (at least initially) who actually care about your music and still find success with it, rather than getting big because some flavour-of-the-month tastemaker added your track to a playlist. Also the exclusivity definitely drums up a lot of interest in a vinyl release.

It might be the best thing he’s released under the Mount Eerie name, but it still doesn’t come close to The Glow Pt 2. It felt like a “give the fans what they want” affair without pushing forward into new territory.
Easily the worst live show I´ve seen in my life, saw them perform about a year ago, right before this album was released. It felt like a glorified karaoke set, it was legit just shitty singing interspersed with cheers from the crowd yelling yes queen every time Pat moved on stage.
