Now that the dust has settled, was it that bad?
Danger Days was released 14 years ago today
Only 4 years after TBP, but it felt like a lifetime
was it that bad
yes
Were they ever good? When the marketed "nostalgia" wears off I'm gonna be glad to stop talking about this one.
GRAVITY
DONT MEAN TOO MUCH TO ME
It's honestly fine, much of the negativity around it is because it's way off their original sound. But Conventional Weapons mogs it in every way
The Black Parade is the only good album they released
it's not bad, i like it atleast
the weapon-themed album or whatever that they originally planned to release was better
thanks for reminding me it existed, gonna listen now
TBP is kino
It was different and less interesting than their previous project. I haven't had any urge to listen to it since it came out.
It's good, but there was no way they were ever going to satisfy the expectations set by Black Parade. When you make an album that huge, it's rare you make a good follow up. Same thing happened to Green Day after American Idiot. MCR was just smart enough to throw the towel in early.
SHUT UP AND LET ME SEE YOUR JAZZ HANDS
youtu.be
Up there with their best songs honestly
Na nanana nanana nanananananana na nanana nanana nananananana na nanana nanana nanana nana na nana na
Least favorite MCR album, but not a bad album and has some bangers.
I thought 14 years ago was like 1997
This
No friend, 1997 was 27 years ago
Third wave emo was dead by 2010 but it's still surprising how irrelevant they felt by this point. It didn't help that their rebrand was wearing motorcycle jackets and playing shit that sounds like it's from a Disney Channel show.
Its not very good as an album, even though there are a few good tracks off of it.
But i think nanana is a good example of what wrong with the album, its a bunch of gen x pop punkers larping as old school like... blondie / the runaways type 70s punk its corny as hell sonically and aesthetically, dudes running around in the neon comic book costumes didnt help. I applaud the ambition and the creativity but it did not come together.
I still like the track planetary go and a couple others off this but i have gone back multiple times to this album and cant make it through it.
The ep they made around this time was worse i forgot what it was called but its like the worst thing they ever produced. Conventional weapons, the scrapped album before this was an absolute yawnfest.
But i listened to bullets revenge and tbp countless times. Those are great albums. And the b sides from those eras were absolutely album worthy, i think desert song shouldve been the final track on revenge. Sister to sleep shouldve been recorded and saved or at least re recorded. Kill all your friends is another stand out for me.
Post reunion mcr has me worried theyre gonna tarnish the catalogue worse than danger days did
Sorry this is a bit of a ramble and more about mcrs output as a whole than just ddays
Ah yeah the ddays ep was mad gear and missile kid, this is bad. This is dogshit. Like rev radio bad.
Also another note i knew a gear whos favorite album from mcr was danger days. I honestly think she was just being contrarian
Forgot my pic
skinny DD Gerard
who cares about this retarded band ffs
literally millions of people
Mcr is overrated ss fuck and I don't hate them, I think tbp is good but come on
Besides The Kids from Yesterday and Summertime, no. It’s not a very good album. Uninspired pop rock. Shocking given their last 3 albums.
not music
Add Destroya to that and I agree, the only three tracks that have any replay value for me. I have found memories of the album because of my life at the time, but actually listening to it through? Nah, rather go off my memories.
Were they ever good
yes, but barring new exceptions, "theatrical" shit rarely ages well and comes off as faggy to later generations. MCR is helped by having a fairly limited run as a big thing, but in that prime they were very solid musicians.
This is the weirdest part looking back.
It's not great, but it's overhated.
It was alright but a shitty "last album". It's like if The Beatles ended on "Magical Mystery Tour", like okay?
Daily reminder that Bob Bryar did nothing wrong and is the most based member of MCR
