Complete misinterpretation of what punk is really about. It's just about anti-authoritarism, anti-system dialectics and anti-mainstream ethos. That sometimes aligns with the feminist, communist, whatever-ist ethics of some bands, but most punk bands are completely outside of said dialectics. Examples: The Cure, Bauhaus, Joy Division, Thursday, Poison the Well, Converge, etc.

I pretty much agree. Converge still play to small audiences in small clubs. Even the punk bands that went big (The Cure) still retain artistic control, releasing music of high quality when they see fit (see, their new record). The sellouts like Green Day or Blink 182 lost all soul in the process of getting money. Such is life.

In America at least, you can either vote for one of two parties, or you can be outside the Overton window in which case Punk Rock Veronica in the OP tells you that you, by definition, aren’t punk. My point is that the last decade was the progressive answer to the 1950’s, with all the social conformity and repression that entails.
