Opeth—TLWAT
Blood Incantation—Absolute Elsewhere
Wraith—Fueled By Fear

Just a few that come to mind, but Invincible Shield is pretty fucking strong and might by my #1. It’s just SO. FUCKING. GOOD.

Yes, and it's crazy cause Halford's a grampa at this point yet it sounds fresher and harder than some early Maiden albums.

Agreed. It’s really insane. He sounds incredible on the album. If Opeth would’ve waited two months to drop that insanity, Invincible Shield might be my #1. There’s a shitload of other good death/thrash that came this year as well, so the field is absolutely fucking stacked.

Edgy title

Knocked Loose doesn't belong there

Agreed. It's already solidified its status as the objective metal AOTY so it doesn't need to compete for second place like those other albums do.

checked

it's Knocked Loose. any other answer is someone being a contrarian loser out of fear of losing their metal cred for giving props to a core album despite it being a great album. it's Knocked Loose.

Nope.

I like the new Knocked Loose album a lot, but I still prefer the new one from Ulcerate.
