The cabs fuckin' rip; it's a shame they broke up so soon.
Sad that their last reunion was during covid. Saw Hisako a bunch of times, saw Mukai, but will probably never see the band.
Anyway, time to shill Bugy Craxone again:

Hyakkei most definitely

I don't really like School Food Punishment but that song they used in Darker Than Black (I think) is super rad
Nowadays it's Band-Maid.

But I keep digging deeper into Yusuke Chiba's career and I gotta give that man some serious credit. Here he is with 4 of his bands, and guest staring with a fifth.

Kinda funny this pic recommends Sadesper Record, and not Narasaki's main Shoegaze/Thrash/Whatever band Coaltar of the Deepers first. Sadesper is like a deep cut of a deep cut lol.
She is extremely talented and very hot, and her supergroup Tokyo Jihen is worth looking at as well. Good taste anon
I'm glad Masudore is still going strong and even played live in my podunk city even though I couldn't go.
If I had to choose one, it's Honeydip. Late 90's/early 00's Shoegaze band that released 3 amazing albums and then disbanded in 2004 due to lack of success. However, they miraculously got back together this year and are playing live shows now. The frontman, Jun Shibuya, went on to do the Tron and CQ, both of which are also really good bands.

I feel like this topic doesn't come up often on this shit board

boat
nice one. Have you heard of Natsumen? It's the post-band the main dude from Boat had after they disbanded. More jazzy and progressive and with lots of horns, but still keeping the energy of Boat
boredom s
this one is good as a first start too haha
Happy end :) or Yosui Inoue
would love recommendations based on these btw
most of their rock sounds like anime openings
big thumbs up for Band-Maid the5 string Bass vs PRS dual in 'Hate?' cant get enough youtu.be
probably Deerhoof even though the rest of the band is American
if that doesn't count, then Acid Mothers Temple but it's been years since I listened to them.
Pure, unadulterated musical genius.
One of the greatest “grower” bands of all time… how the fuck do they come up with this stuff?
Even today, nothing sounds like these guys.

I'm assuming you mean the bottom-left. It's Owari by Nashimoto-P. Still the coolest utilization of vocaloid tech I've heard.
Coaltar of the Deepers
I wanted to include things people might not know about, and CotD is pretty well-known around here. (although maybe I should have gone with one of their lesser-known EPs instead)
Have you heard of Natsumen?
Yes, they're great! Ase, please release Fracture...
Shonen Knife

Agata is a genius
Reek of the unzen gas fumes
Some good stuff I hadn't heard in here
Favs for me are probably Coaltar, downy, Ground Zero (more experimental), Bloodthirsty Butchers and BOaT. And toe but that's a gimme. Tons of other I love from these threads like BP. and Number Girl but I suppose I don't identify with them quite as hard because they were more recent discoveries

This album is fantastic, got it recced it to me from somebody in a chart thread a while back
Okurimono is such a cozy beautiful album. Not exactly rock but I also love How To Count Planets for a similar vibe of coziness.
