Who else do you know of that was making shit like this in 1966? Every shoegaze, noise rock, post-rock, etc band that you love is because of them

band is good because they influenced a bunch of bad music

That clip sounds like a shitty band jamming in someone's garage. All this praise of the VU comes from music critics retroactively hyping them up.

They sold fairly good at the time aswell and were already pretty influential at the time. I'm sorry they couldn't sound like the dorky retarded tile counting shit that you like or an ebic pop culture reference band for neckbeards like how The Beatles or Zappa are. They are 1000× better than virtually all the music you guys actually like though. Walk Alone. Look that one up and listen to it right now.

They influenced literally all rock music to exist after maybe the mid 80s 2000× more than The Beatles,The Monkees,The Doors,or Trout Mask Replica did. Realistically speaking they are one of if not the most influential artists of that period. You hate them because you're retarded.

that's all you care about is popularity and mass appeal. npc. same reason you smoke weed, to fit in with the cool kids.

I don't thunk I said anything that would allude to this. If anything I like The VU largely because my parents liked them. Good to know you've been bullied extensively your entire life and that you have no friends and are extremely lonely though. Thanks for projecting that outwards in order to share with the class.

they aight

You got me. That's why I love RUSH and spend so much time shitting on Netspend. That's why I keep bringing up Emerson Lake and Palmer, unlike you who is totally not doing the most obvious retarded laroing for a crumb of pussy imaginable. It's OK bro. You can stop pretending to like mid 60s boybands. That's bot going to get you pussy in current year. Funny retarded screaming meme shit won't make you seem sophisticated either. It's alright to have funny retard meme screaming in small doses, but you guys acting like TMR or Death Grips or whatever is le true art is just super sad.

"npc"

Guy who listens to funny retarded screaming in an attempt to get laid

Menawhile Pet Sounds is actually popular

How much do you lie to yourself?

Rush and ELP are aight too

>Guy who listens to funny retarded screaming in an attempt to get laid

Why do you assume this for anyone who doesn't like Velvet Underground?

"same reason you smoke weed, to fit in with the cool kids."

I'm a 27 year old man with autism. I smoke it because it gets me high you fucking retard. I can't trip anymore and I don't drink like I used to or smoke cigarettes so this is what I have. Everyone gets off on something. For you that's probably jacking off more than average, but my penor hurt if I do that too much. Yeah it's more socially accepted or "cooler" in a sense, but it's just me "getting myself off" in a different way essentially.

Because most of you guys will defend Trout Mask Replica or Spork Era Beatles as alternatives and also will try to talk down to me about other funny retard screaming shit while writing off genuine avant gaurde musicians like Claude Vivier,Magma,Brian Freneyhough,CAN,and others who didn't just cash in on that retarded screeching would make you feel included.

The default on Anon Babble is le sad forever alone indie 2000s poorly aged sad boy rock or it's funny retard screaming album that some guy in the 60s thought would get him laid pretending to like it and you also pretend to like it because you don't understand it isn't still the 1960s. That's all it is. Death Grips was never cool. I had an emberassing phase of that in high-school aswell and the memes were funny but they had maybe a couple good songs at best.

Trout Mask Replica or Spork Era Beatles

nah they aight

don't care about all that meme shit you posted but yes the beatles are eons ahead of vu. doesn't matter if they influenced a bunch of cringey punk music in the 90s. nobody cares lil bro.

This Jam is also just fucking sick dude. The first track. I'm not trying to be cool at all. I'm proudly out of date. The only contemporary music I listen to is Pop Country,Black Metal,Shoegaze, and some Avant Gaurde Classical. I give zero fucks about that in terms of my music. I can be a very insecure guy at times but music is about the soul. It's not about trying to fit in or look cool it's about art and entertainment. It's not content like the retarded gleeb glorp shit you guys like. I don't care how pretentious or sparky Lou Reed was or how much you hate him, because ultimately his music doesn't really reflect that. There's something deeper, more primal, and more human about The VU than those "boybands" you guys are so keen on discussing. That's what gives it so much cool points or whatever even. It's that The Velvet Underground touch something deep in the human psyche and conscious and maybe even subconscious. They make compelling art. Dreamtheater isn't not cool because people are too stupid for odd time signatures or because they sang about nerdy stuff, they're not cool because they could never possibly do that. Same with all this djent you have nowadays. You have to understand that if The Velvet Underground was truly that effect or inaccessible as fuck maybe it was even TRYING to be It's legacy would not be Forgotten Woods and Nirvana. They ascended to popularity despite being totally unmarketable because they touch something deep within the human soul. They more than proved their value from a sociological perspective. Being marketable as "cool" DESPITE not having had the sort of mainstream mass appeal the Beatles did given how old they are and then that music being more relevant to modern indie rock or Black Metal or Neofolk or whatever proves their value. They transcend the time in which they were created in the same way let's say Richard Wagner or Chet Baker or whatever did.

mogs his old band with their own songs

Ultimately Lou Reed was right and he was actually better than these other bands or at least some of them. Time has basically proven that.

lou reed said the beatles were better than vu. this is a fact.

Nah his best work was with The Velvets same with John Cale. Nico is the only real exception. She peaked on Marble Index. That being said I do enjoy a couple songs off Sally can't Dance. Kill your Sons might not be the sort of oscarbait strategy Lou was going through before but it is a sick piece of mid 70s hard rock.

He didn't. Even if he did they're not though. Not even close. If any of the "British Boybands" even came close it would probably be The Hollies,The Move,or The Kinks. Maybe The Moody Blues or Pretty Things or something else blatantly Sgt.Pepper/Magical Mystery Tour Era inspired or Small Faces even but not The Beatles themselves no.

boyband means nothing, you're saying absolutely zilch about the music itself. that being said a boyband is still better than a fagband. not for nothing.

I don't think I like The Velvet Underground better because I think it will make me look cool, what's cool to look cool now is unironically The Beach Boys. I think you think that people think it's cool and that I think it's cool because you're stuck in The 90s. I like them because they're genuinely objectively better as artists and musicians. Nobody cares if it's "bad music theory" if the end product sounds this fucking cool. Literally no one. That's why there's Pop Punk and not Pop Mod. The Velvet Underground basically were the heaviest most psychedelic band of them all even if Lou Reed wasn't necessarily doing psychedelics (neither was Zappa and neither was Jimi Hendrix probably and neither was the guy from Pearls before Swine even so who the fuck cares,Clapton was mostly on cocaine and Heroin and everyone still considers White Room to be at least somewhat Psychedelic and Pressed Rat and Warthog).

yea they aight

Well you know what I meant. Similar British Acts. I don't think The Beatles were genuinely better musicians than The Hollies or The Move or Small Faces. I don't think they were better than The Association or The Beau Brummels either. Psychedelic Pop was prettymuch Boroque Pop with extra steps and The Bestles absolutely did not invent that. They debatably didn't even invent Beat Music,so ofc The Velvet Underground are more influential. Arguably The Kinks aswell. Even the most blatant Beatles worship bands of the 80s and 90s still used a "stripped down" aesthetic similar to The Velvet Underground,The Who,The Kinks,CAN,Neu!,The Peace,Love, etc. It's just gawdy and dated now.

don't think The Beatles were genuinely better musicians than The Hollies or The Move or Small Faces

goofball

The Velvet Underground are more influential

who asked??

It's the best to me dude. If The Velvet Underground didn't sound so fucking sick to begin with they never would have been a "normie band" to begin with in the first place. They're from a conventional viewpoint completely unmarketable and we're far from the most popular band at the time. They got their position in popular culture through sustained cultural influence and by writing great songs. The Beatles wrote corny sporkcore shit that was popular because sometimes people try too hard. Same with Frank Zappa and Captain Beefheart. Hendrix also got popular on accord of his own talent same with Love and same with "Krautrock" and "Zamrock" and even "American Garage Psych" as a whole. Those were bands that were genuinely so good that they simply stopped being obscure or niche due to how good they were. Music Theory can get fucked. If The Velvet Underground were truly so ba they never would have become this big retrospectively. The Beatles were meanwhile propped up from the start and still managed to age like absolute piss same with Zappa.

I like both The Beatles and The Velvet Underground, because I'm not a closed minded prick,.

You're trying too hard to seem cool right now ironicly enough, failing miserably at it too. I'm guessing your lack of sexual provaclivity has caused you to develop some insecure obsessions hasn't it?

wow I saw when this thread was about to become archived, only 2 posts, was going to reply, but thought eh who cares, no point telling that 2ndposter how anomalous the VU were at the time, and called it a day then I come here and check the board, just to see 27 replies to this thread I thought dead

mfw I read the name "Nico Sperg Guy"

You have that one band that you just fucking hate aswell though dude. Don't lie. Everybody does. Nobody actually "just likes everything haha".

It's a sick jam. You should listen to it retarded manchild larping as a cartoon frog anon. Maybe you just can't handle based riffs?

...I guess the Eagles would be that band.

lay off the meth bro, you do realize I agree the VU were the most influential rock band of all time? It's a good jam, live VU bootlegs are like the Fall bootlegs, you could spend a whole lifetime listening to em

not that anon, but I do have plenty of bands that I've grown to hate
one of them is the Rolling Stones
I like most of their contemporaries, but can't stand them for some reason
their music just doesn't sound sincere to me

I mean I fucking hate them too so fair enough. I like that song one of them did as a solo artist in the 80s though. "In The City". That's pretty good. Least I think he was in The Eagles. I like Jackson Browne aswell. I think he wrote a couple songs for them aswell as Nico. He was kinda a dude weed hippie guy prettymuch. You might like some stuff he did though. Colors of The Sun and Road and The Sky are good. Also fucking Lady of The Well. That's a cool one.

I like The Rolling Stones desu. I'm not like super super into them but I like like a couple songs.
That's fair dude. You can like a couple songs by them and not be a superfan. That being said I'm a superfan of all three and Here come The Warm Jets and CAN and all that shit though. It's not hard to read the general direction my music tastes go in as a whole.

You might be mentally challenged if you're this defensive of The Beatles and are older than Middleschool. That was the last time I remember actually giving a single fuck about them. That would be the appropriate age.

"Lil Bro"

Do you also hate Guns but ride in ths biggest truck imaginable while you're listening to music from mature and sophisticated animes? Just asking haha. Seems like you've built your entire personality about being insecure about your penis.

Thank you Netspend, very cool. Lil Bruh Bruh has Skibbidi Gyatt Ocki Rizz from Sigma Ohio. Got it.

who is bro talking to lmao
