Melancholy Man is the best song on that album
This old man I know was talking about some of the bands he used to listen to when he was my age and they were Frank Zappa and The Moody Blues.
more like you're mom's penis edition, haha gottem.
where
See, this is where I think the story distracts from the music, in that it doesn’t/shouldn’t *have to* fit in the story somewhere…
Now, having a story is great for the lore (and marketing, let’s not kid ourselves), and probably most of all helpful for inspiration and direction for the writing itself, but it can all too easily go from being a canvas to a cage…
And I think Karthel is precisely that, songs free from the overarching story and chronology of Magma, and while in retrospect there’s nothing wrong with trying to fit them somewhere, by their very nature that’s originally what they weren’t…
the "story" in Magma isn't really the point of their music, in fact i'm pretty sure Vander downplays it in interviews, but the story is not really a "story" in the traditional sense, it's heavily influenced by Christianity, Gnosticism, and various occult ideas, the narrative unfolds more through the atmosphere and emotional resonance of the music rather than through a linear plot, Magma's music transcends traditional storytelling, it's more like a form of ritual or meditation that reflects the band's spiritual explorations.
Basically this, but I do feel like the insistence of singing in Kobaïan sort of lends itself to the lore of the band. Hell, the whole Köhntarkösz trilogy is itself pretty narrative driven. I suppose bands like Gong and Ange downplay their "lore," but Magma, to me, is pretty rooted on the lore as part of its identity. Let's not forget that their debut was essentially a concept double album.
Happy 20th to best PT album

WHAT HAS BECOME OF YOU
i just can't stomach Colons era Genesis, it's so fucking tacky it makes my stomach turn, i'm not that big of a fan of Gabriel Genesis either, but atleast there's some kind of real emotion there, but this shit is just trying to appeal to as many people as possible, it tries so hard to be sentimental but it just come off as cheap disney music.
This but unironically
He sounds jealous
Ya I can hear a bit of jealousy in that.
Rick is the true most tasteful keyboardist in prog.
I have a closeted love of Yes' Heaven & Earth. I know reception to it is mixed, but it came along at the right time in my life and I only associate it with good memories. It's also the last with Squire who I feel was the backbone and soul of the band. I can't get into any Yes album after his passing
Kita the Rock (Hard Cock!)
Why the hell is this hated? I think it is easily on par with the rest of their discography
I don’t really like any of their modern albums. They’re just not very interesting. They certainly sound like Yes albums but are chronically short on compelling or memorable compositions. It’s like a brand more than a band.

What an asshole

AND THE TIDE RUSHES IN (AAAAAAAAAAAAA)
1. production is bad
2. concept is bad, terribly executed and worsens the album
the songs themselves are really good though
what are pants like that, that wrap around the foot called?
what do you think the last good Yes album was? for me it's CTTE. everything after is a 5/10 or lower.
Stirrup leggings, saar
finally, a place to post all my oekaki prog covers
I don't care for Steven Wilson.
Now that's comfy.
hot
i used to listen to prog, now i'm a pronk
Not same anon, but Topographic and Relayer are still good. After that they have some good songs in a couple of albums like GFTO or Drama, but nothing really memorable or interesting. I also tend to ignore their first 2 records. The 5 album streak from The Yes Album to Relayer is one of my favourite ones ever tho
Fun fact, this is Joanna Newsom's favourite Gentle Giant song: youtu.be
their first two albums are pleb filter, especially the tits one.
he doesn't like Magnification
Sad!
