Leaving out Zambia
They should at least get a D Zamrock is pretty rad. Also I like a lot of traditional music from Greece, Turkey, Iran, and India even if their modern music is ass, feels unfair to put them that low.
Russia music is too high
Part of me would bump up Bulgaria for the folk music, but then you have the chalga/turbofolk which is absolute dog shit
Africabros... Our response??
whats the justification for russia s tier
he hasn't heard zimbabwe music with that finger instrument
Canada has 3 of the Top 5 most popular artists in the world, not to mention an incredible musical legacy.
if leafs aren't top tier, no one is.
Australia also hits well above their weight
And the UK is equal to the USA but has a fraction of the population, so...
Drake sucks ass, and while they have some quality they also have some dire stuff like Bryan Adams, Nickelback, Sum 41 and Simple Plan
korea and canada not S tier
brazil and russia S tier
The ACTUAL objective map. You CANNOT argue against this map. It is the TRUTH.

Australia A
Don't be fucking stupid.
name better, with examples
Classical
this is a very american centric map
the caribbean is like the epitome of music from latin america as a whole
also plenty of african countries created great music, soukous was a big thing in almost all of africa coming from the congo
Algeria F
Egypt F
Turkey F
Israel (made up country with no culture) above every other middle eastern country (millennia of vibrant culture)
Australia 3 tiers above NZ (And I'm saying this as an Aussie)
Norway above Sweden
France S
Canada only in C
Holy shit you truly know absolutely nothing about music do you? Leave the board or better yet just kys
South Korea, Australia, Canada all S-tier for popular music, obviously. Germany, Italy, France, Russia, Austria all S-tier for classical music. Jamaica at least A-tier based just on reggae alone. Other than bossanova, what has Brazil done?
north korea f
unserious
Name any Ukrainian music
What the fuck did you do to Jamaica
quality is subjective, but considering you listed output and influence in your criteria, south korea should be A tier minimum
Brazil and Russia over Mexico
Influence? It's just recycled westerned pop
Brazil definitely deserves to be up there, it's like an alternative US in terms of coming up with original genres, had it been a lusophone world it would be THE country for novel styles in popular music
Such as
Fuck off, Kpop fag.
I wouldn't teach a novice
People here listen almost exclusively to Anglo music. Some weebs might listen to kpop or jpop, but don't ask them for more. Music, like cinema, like most pop culture, is an absolute Anglo monopoly, with Japan being the only other country that has a significative place in the international market.
Given this panorama... what's even the point of this list, when people knows almost nothing about the cultural products made outside the Anglosphere, except for anime?
I guess OP gave Russia and France the top ranking because of some popular classics, and Brazil because of the bossa nova, but I seriously doubt he's regularly listening to their music. And even if I were wrong about him, I would still be right about 99,99999999999999% of you.
And I'm very ignorant myself, but at least I'm not making these meaningless lists.
music sounds like shit in other languages
at best it will sound like gibberish you don't take seriously
China is so overrated. Imagine living in a country that plays the same exact songs for 2000+ years. Then have maybe some literally irrelevant CPOP and CRAP. Worse musical heritage than many countries in Africa. I don't care that they invented the koto or whatever your justification for C is.
India is higher than F probably should be either C or even B. They did invent the Sitar which is like a guitar and also the Eastern notes scale. Iran should get C for literally inventing music but not doing much else.
African countries that are good
Nigeria invented Afrobeat = C
Mali invented The Blues and inspired American music = B
South Africa = B for Jazz inspirations
Egypt gets a B for their jazz and inventing the drums
Also I think A for Italy they made Renaissance music, I give them credit for Ennio Morricone and Mafia musical styles, the amounts of music they added was incredible.

This is a much better selection than the first list
France in S
Christian Vander carries it upon his shoulders
I generally agree with you but France is an easy S, they have some really incredible artists and have had them going all the way back to the medieval era. You probably know songs of French origin without even realizing it.
Ireland is surprisingly low. Not only is their folk music amazing but it spawned both Bluegrass and Sea Shanties. downside is if you want to count the fact that like half of the members of MBV are from Ireland/Irish so they're partially responsible for Poogaze
Better selection but The Band was on the first list and it's the best out of all listed Canadian bands this far
name ONE Alaskan band
Not gonna touch on other countries, but ones I generally believe should be S and why, in no particular order
America
Basically founded every modern genre and have some of the most iconic artists in history
Britain
Took a lot of what America was putting down and refined it to new highs, also has some of the most iconic artists in history
Brazil
Took unique influences and blended them all together to create music that's immediately recognizable to people the world over
France
Boundless classical contributions, modern contributions, took influences from fucking everyone and just rolled with it
Germany/Austria
Lumping these two together for the historical timeframe, created some of the most beautiful pieces of classical music ever composed
Italy
Probably the biggest disagreement I have with OP's map, served as the foundations for modern musical composition and produced truly wonderful classical music
Russia
Both classical and modern styles that have a distinctly Russian flair, many of which are known the world over
Japan
Took what America was doing and just refined it down to a fucking science
Also some potential S-tiers that I'm not completely sure of
Ireland
Helped to inspire those American contributions and had a real hey day in the 90s, with Irish-adjacent acts being extremely well-known and also having some extremely well-known acts themselves. Probably the closest to S out of the ones I'm pondering.
Argentina
Feels like the pinnacle of "Latin" music to me, various styles and some really solid bands, sadly little international influence
India
Incredible classical contributions, their own independently-reached classical stylings are great, but man I want to dock them just for how ass their modern music scene is
The problem with China is that the Chinese language sounds downright comical.
getting filtered by middle eastern music
