Kiss

I thought they didn't have much airplay at the time, I guess I was lied to

Kiss

Yeah I've only just seen the band and haven't really listened to their entire discography, I just love a good 'huge' band so I wanted to know if I could listen to that one song they have, you know the one with the'moo moo' on

not Shake Your Booty

I count at least ten classics in there.

Beth was their only top 40 hit and it's a ballad the band basically disowned.

I know Don't Go Breaking My Heart, Play That Funky Music, Boogie Fever, Dreamweaver, Bohemian Rhapsody, 50 Ways to Leave Your Lover, Magic Man, Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald, and Dream On

you don't know All By Myself?

No Silly Love Songs?

Chicago - If You Leave Me Now

this one was in gta V so zoomers know it

Oh yeah
Nope

technically there are 5 classics here:

Chicago - If You Leave Me Now 538m (might be explained by )
Elton John & Kiki Dee - Don't Go Breaking My Heart 922m
Four Seasons - December 1963 (Oh, What a Night) 560m
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody 2.75b
Aerosmith - Dream On 1.33b

the other ones aren't known by young people i.e. not classics

the other ones aren't known by young people

who the fuck remembers Don't Go Breaking My Heart? never even hear that in 70s supermarket playlists. if you said Hotel California then I'd say ok.

Silly Love Songs
Play That Funky Music
Disco Lady
Shake Your Booty
Love Is Alive
A Fifth of Beethoven
50 Ways To Leave Your Lover
Dream On

That's at least nine classics

It still blows my mind that Captain & Tennille have so many hits. I don't understand the 70s

They had a crummy TV show that was watched by suburban housewives. It was like the 70s equivalent of Perry Como's TV show where the songs were basically an advertisement/tie-in for it. Also they were gay even if you couldn't quite be open about that back then.

we let ourselves forget that Top 40 has always been heavily stacked towards housewives and little kids. there was a whole huge audience of suburban women who watched Captain & Tennille and Sonny & Cher's TV shows and listened to their albums and John Denver, HYNBM-era Olivia Newton-John, Debby Boone, "Don't Go Breaking My Heart" etc that is almost ignored in discussions of the '70s because those people weren't part of the music tastemaker crowd that dickrides Wire and Richard Hell and the Voidoids.

Everyone who watched Chicken Little aka all Zoomers. But I don't accept that definition of classic.

anon it says the song has 922 million streams...

But I don't accept that definition of classic.

what's a better one?

Dr. Hook - Only Sixteen

is NOT a pedo song

how many once you subtract botted streams?

theyve been played endlessly more times on radio, cassette, vinyl, 8 track, CD, and mp3. streaming is just a new thing that a lot of the original owners dont need to use

Theme from S.W.A.T. is criminally overlooked, first theme from a tv show to hit #1 and a staple at roller rinks back in the day.

no one cares about the "original owners" though

1977, 7 classics:

Hotel California, Rich Girl, I'm Your Boogie Man, Keep It Comin' Love, Fly Like An Eagle, Don't Stop, Star Wars theme

I always say the late 70s is my favorite era for music because of punk and new wave, but I guess all of that was still underground back then. Most of the songs here are ones I either dislike or think so little of that I can’t even form an opinion.

Don't Stop

ew, I like some FM songs but that one makes me sick

Star Wars theme

you know it's a disco version right? the most streamed Star Wars music is actually from The Phantom Menace:

Duel of the Fates 131m
Across the Stars (Love Theme from "Star Wars: Attack of the Clones") 75m
The Imperial March (Darth Vader's Theme) 74m
Cantina Band 44m
Rey's Theme 42m
Battle of the Heroes 39m
Anakin vs. Obi-Wan 38m
Star Wars (Main Theme) 33m
