How big is your music library?
Mine is considerably big.

2.1 tb
that's around 60 weeks of music

Around 700 GB right now

Wow. That's a lot of tunes.
What, is it all DSD? Has to be.
There's no way you have 2.1TB worth of music in any small file type.

i do 2 shows for a local radio station

520+ GB of jazz (have to update it with recent soulseek folders)

189 GB of 60s/70s hard rock/punk/metal

I do have some very big files yeah but no I just download a lot and never delete anything
it used to be more but I had hardware problems last year and had to wipe out a hdd

Capture.jpg - 198x29, 3.91K

had to wipe out a hdd

Damn, that sucks. Did you lose a lot?
Bet you got most of it back though.

it was a lesson on detachment

Heard.
Sometimes being a bit too sentimental can be bad for you.

412 GB, 28978 files, 3103 folders.

520+ GB of jazz

Damn, man. Are you some kind of jazz encyclopedia? What are your favorite albums?

520+ gb of jazz

damn, man.

i hate the idea of playing the same songs by the same artists, especially from a genre with so much variety and with everyone recording with each other and their own shit, y'know. so i wanna keep listening and keep finding new albums and curating the best songs

lanquidity - sun ra

silent way - miles

night lights - mulligan

speak no evil - wayne

the quest - waldron

judgement - hill

inflated tear - kirk

here's my rym list of every jazz album i have:
rateyourmusic.com/list/AtrociousExhibition/all-that-jazz-jazz-cd-collection/

list of rock albums is also on my account

Why didn't you back it up

I could set up a small 2 floor library with the physical media I own. I got 160 GB left on a computer, mostly filled with music. I got enough CDs and tapes to build a small communal hut with a stove. I got so much fuggin music bros, that I question whether I have the desire to coomsum more. I'm at the stage where I'm buying tools instead to build these things

~4TB
i do keep a smaller folder that i sync between computers & phone, and that's about 300GB

How much music is on youtube? Because it's that much.

only recently got back into downloading music, I was on spotify for like 6 years cuz I got it free with work
now working on converting a bunch of shitty mp3 rips into flac but I kind of can't be fucked

I like the divide into genres rather than artists.

I have about 650GB of MP3s overall but only 275GB in my library
Of the 120~ days in the library 20 days of it have 1 play, 50 days 1+ and 50 days 0 plays.
My library started from a bunch of ripped CDs my father got from eBay of the Rolling Stone top 1000 album list, many missing their last track for some reason. Replaced and expanded those over time with limewire, frostwire, qbittrorrent, various online blog sites, slsk and my own CD's.

I didn't know Luke Vibert and The Wedding Present had so much output
Big fan of YosepH

2.5tb but nowadays I stream most music but I can't quite part with my digital collection. I had to forcefully part with my physical one after a flood soo

According to musicbee: 108539 songs, 8531 albums (but it also counts singles and soundtracks and the like) and it takes almost 291 days to listen to my whole music library
Also except from some albums I can't find a lossless version of 99% or so is in flac
I also have a lossy version of my library on my phone converted to 160 opus which is only around 539 gb

I shaved off about 500GBs in my latest streamline. I have more on old backups, but this is my accessible music

Wedding Present folder is that large because I've got the three disc deluxe reissues of their records and the complete Peel Sessions comp
Vibert is all his shit under his name and the Plug/Wagon Christ/Amen Andrew/other stuff

520+ GB of jazz

chad shit

about 120 Gigs... on CD

zeropeepoo.png - 993x706, 262.22K

757 GB, but I tend to save booklet scans a lot.
I tried checking the size of just my audio files and I'm getting inconsistent results from the same command, and I'm not adding or removing anything right now. So now I'm panicking over my hard drive health.

1.3 tb digital, prolly another 1000 CDs and a modest vinyl/cassette collection, started really amassing stuff 10 years ago

2 TB over here, roughly 7500 albums in total

i only stream music

Zoomer here, been going only since 2021 and I regularly prune the library so this is what I've got.
According to musicbee: 7,312 files, 248.4 GB, 34d 10h 45m

I'm pretty awestruck by how much some of you guys have

lib.png - 842x610, 66.18K

Biggest folder

file.png - 1431x867, 117.13K

90% of this music was downloaded prior to 2022. I rarely download albums anymore because I don't really explore new music anymore.

shuffle.jpg - 204x592, 52.11K

my old folder was 40gb but the files are old mp3s so they quality has probably degraded

Still need to organize a bunch of it.

file.png - 351x209, 8.64K

Same size as my cock. Massive

i recently deleted all of it that i had in favor of spotify. it was well over 250 gigs. i thought about keeping lives and unreleased tracks of my favorite artists but decided not to because i dont really even listen to them all that much. im trying to be less burdened in general. even in spotify, i prune my liked songs and artists i follow and playlists i create. i imagine people with more like old ladies that have a bunch of shit in their house taking up space that they never use when they die

i have 400+ gb but ive basically stopped downloading anything that isnt either fairly rare or some sort of favorite.
