If you ever fell for this you are a fucking moron.
If you ever fell for this you are a fucking moron
fell for what?
It's good enough
the meme that this was a lost album that was rediscovered 15 years after its release
it is simply the truth
daily reminder Anon Babble supported death grips and panchiko's rise to fame
The evidence to the contrary is pretty shaky
So some random anon on a Anon Babble board specifically dedicated to music JUST SO HAPPENED to find a 15+-year-old CD in a thrift shop with manga cover art that, despite over a decade of water damage, played perfectly with some musically-appropriate distortion? Yeah, I'm thinking it's a load of bologna.
So, what if it was a shill, the music's fine
The chances of something like that happening at least once every 50 years are not that low
So some random anon on a Anon Babble board specifically dedicated to music
Have a question about music
Go to a music forum to ask about it
Why is this so far-fetched? This is the likeliest place for it to happen.
played perfectly with some musically-appropriate distortion
that's what disc rot sounds like you retard
wasn't there hard proof that the band actually existed in the timeframe that they claimed to exist?
also the vocalist sounds completely different and substantially different from how he did on the album. how do you explain that
no french dub therefore hoax
They any good live?
Maybe they misremembered it being French?
they're lying
No 40 year old misremembers things that happened when they were 7 or 8
I think you're just mad that cant pull off the same thing for your music
He probably saw the English version which aired twice in 1988 when he was 7-8.
The release date isn't fake, but the story of how it was "discovered" is.
Classic moving the goalposts. There's evidence that a search existed and that Owain was contacted through a defunct Facebook page for his old electronic project. No evidence it was orchestrated.
an english speaking 7 year old doesn't know the difference between english and french?
Or saw something else in French in the intervening 30 years and got them mixed up. Use your head m8.
that one line about cumming always gets me hard
rock bands bringing in Japanese elements and aesthetics often create music that feels ahead of its time. Panchiko, but also this: youtu.be
Honestly I couldn't care less whether the story is real or not, because the music itself is just so unremarkable
If it really is just fake marketing, good on them because that's the only interesting thing about this album
I'm still peeved cause a couple years before this I was living in Nottingham, going to record shops and posting on here. I could have been the guy that started this legend/hoax.
That's the thing, if the story is true, then the album is ahead of its time, if it's all fake and gay, then this doesn't sound any different than other SoundCloud Radiohead wannabes
why does this album sound so good? it’s well produced and mixed compared to modern crap. was is that easy to make proper sounding music back then with the gear?
i dont care if its true or not but the album wasnt even that special
without the story it wouldnt be that popular
and it wasnt lol, it only became famous after the tale went viral and the band got involved
What zoomers don't understand is that a CD is digital data and does not degrade in the same way that analog media does. Anyone who was alive before 2008 knows that when CDs degrade, they skip or just won't play at all because that's the way data works. This album has the equivalent of After Effects VHS filter slapped over it which is something only a retard could come up with to fool other retards.
Japanese culture was more mainstream in France than in Britain at the time. British schools sometimes organized visits to France so lots of ordinary British kids went to France. If he traveled there it's possible he saw French dubbed anime on TV there and confused the two events. Source: I personally visited France on a school trip in the 90s and saw French dubbed anime on TV there.
A cd player reads data on a disc in real time. It "skips" when the spot its currently trying to read is a lost cause, think chips and scratches. Entire parts of the surface are missing. The laser sees that shit is completely fucked and skips that part. In the case of disc rot, in the earlier stages, shit is not completely fucked just yet. The surface is still readable, albeit not as intended. Portions of data are corrupted instead of physically missing.
CD audio error correction is kind of shitty but it at least works as reliable error detection. If there's major data loss or corruption you'll get skips. Minor corruption is often "repaired" by the drive firmware interpolating the surrounding good data, which is usually inaudible because only a few samples are affected. I don' know of any scenario where CD disc rot would cause obvious distortion without skipping.
And yet there are many examples showing that they do end up that way sometimes, especially CD-R

This should put the debate to bed, theres multiple examples of distortion that sound exactly like the panchiko disc, from the same time period... unless this is all part of the carefully coordinated psyop?
No it doesn't work like that, CD isn't an analog medium like vinyl records or VHS. It has verification in place like checksums. This hoax is like thinking that you can open a game exe from your computer in notepad and change a bunch of random bytes, and it'll somehow still run but just look and sound "fuzzy".
