I don't think I've ever seen a band crash as hard as The Beatles. They went from being the most revered, influential, legendary band Earth to complete irrelevant obscurity in the span of like 15 years. No one talks about them, plays their songs, or references them ever. I doubt most people under 20 could even name one song of their's if they've even heard of them. When the Boomers die out nobody will ever care about The Beatles again. Other bands from around the same era have stood the test of time like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and ACDC. Even Simon and Garfunkel have more relevance.

What went wrong?

people are slowly realizing one direction were the better boyband

Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and ACDC

are you English or some shit?
this trash will die out too

No way could a zoomer who doesn't know any Beatles songs name any from the other artists you listed

I haven't heard anyone talk about Beatles in the real world since high school

No I'm American, but all those bands still get played on the radio daily. I still hear their music in movies, commercials, and other media. I still see merchandise for these bands at stores. I still see kids wearing T-shirts of these bands. I genuinely haven't heard a Beatles song in any context since probably 2009.

Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and ACDC. Even Simon and Garfunkel

Nobody knows any of these bands either outside of the name. Music is dying, the history of Rock is dying. It's all about popslop now.

try harder next time

The 60s were a very strong era for music. A lot of extremely influential bands and artists popped up around then that would define the current sounds we have now. The Beatles being the biggest act of the era have had a absurd amount of eyes placed on them. "The beatles if they were good" started because of how revered they are as the "best band ever". Lately I've seen other bands from this time like the Beach Boys and Velvet Underground begin to get alot more respect and appreciation due to their very unique productions and influence.

this has to be the most out of touch board on this website

Quads confirm.

Most modern music is pretty uninteresting. It's just shitty over produced hip hop or whatever girl pop stats next nepotism album. Smaller acts aren't even all that interesting either. Obviously a major generalization but hard to give love to a era that's basically stagnant.

Velvet Underground begin to get alot more respect and appreciation

The media is moving past the conventional slop that's played over and over. Literally anybody who cares about music is tired of getting shafted with the same rehashed tunes.

TVU was literally famous for including earrapey sounds in their music, the youth of today would rather get earraped than listen to popslop. Pretty fuckin' dire if you ask me.

Agreed. I’m the opposite of a beatles fan but if you think they aren’t still being revered as the “best band of all time” then you don’t talk to people. Fuck even some musicians think they basically created music.

Pig ignorance

fails to rebut my claim

Until you give me a good reason as to why my take is "pig ignorant", I will continue to believe it.

Well Brian Wilson and Lou Reed/Jphn Cale have has a fairly major impact on the independent music scene for the past 20 years. Hard to see guys like Mac Demarco or Animal collective existing without said inspiration.

I’m not playing your game. Anything I will say you’ll pull some non argument out of your ass

Anything I will say you’ll pull some non argument out of your ass

Try me. I'm on Anon Babble to learn more, not to argue without reason, that'd be something you'd do on Anon Babble.

this, I suggest at minimum not including Judas Priest and Hendrix to make the bait more effective

Lately I've seen other bands from this time like the Beach Boys and Velvet Underground begin to get alot more respect and appreciation

by who?

Well, the last two velvet underground albums have nothing to do with ear rape and were more poppy in nature.

have had a fairly major impact on the independent music scene for the past 20 years

That's a very good point. Beatles were the same with rock, but of course not much conventional rock is being made anymore, so irrelevancy is coming to take them soon.

I just wish all the kiddos wouldn't try to go 100x more experimental and pretentious, TVU still had bearable writing with the pretention.

I see them mentioned far more in general music discussion online. Obviously regarding this era of music specifically. No I do not mean the Lou Reed shitposter or Love schizo.

the last two velvet underground albums

I've heard that those two albums were the least respected and most argued upon, but I'm not entirely sure.

A lot of discussion irl and online, even people I personally know who aren't even into music that much are talking about TVU now.

They still have their merits in my eyes

I just wish all the kiddos wouldn't try to go 100x more experimental and pretentious, TVU still had bearable writing with the pretention.

Yeah it's pretty noticeable the difference in technical skill. The Beach Boys for example were the second coming of the 4 freshman vocally alongside Brian being a borderline savant in terms of song writing. Indie acts can often feel small in scope when compared. Just look at Carl Wilson's singing range lmao. No one nowadays is pulling that off.

borderline schizo savant* excuse me.

I was thinking you were going to argue about TVU becoming more popular recently, but it was just of our opinions on their sound. Still a fine discussion, just not what I expected.

Oh, I guess I misunderstood your post. Sorry

Yeah it's pretty noticeable the difference in technical skill

I think the one of the positives of pre-streaming is that you had to prove yourself before posting music online.
A Record Label would have to see your merits before giving you a contract, you had to prove yourself. But now you can simply pay monthly to have your shit FL studio test file be uploaded onto Spotify.

It's flooding the music space, now you have to sift through all this diarrhea to find something even slightly better.

Yeah it really is a lot of uninspired slop nowadays. I think for every unique new guy on the scene a large amount of wannabes pop up. Shit like Clairo is blatantly artificial and she sounds terrible lmao. The average girl group of the 1960's had 4 times the range and variation in singing.

You know we’re in the year 2025 and they started like what 64?
Time moves on friend.

I love the Beatles but like come on it’s been like 70 years. How much more do you want for a band that was together for only like 6 years.

I agree. Time to move on from that faggot Mozart.

Sounds like a you problem, retard. The Beatles remain the most influential band ever and have never lost relevance. Zoomies gonna zoom.

The Beatles catalog to license is expensive as fuck and they wield an iron fist on how it’s used

and have never lost relevance

Zoomies laugh at you now when the Beatles are referenced. Who controls the social zeitgeist right now? Zoomies.

When Zoomies don't teach Gen Beta about Beatles, and then Gen Beta fails to find out about the Beatles in their adulthood, soon the Beatles will lose full relevancy outside of Z-Boomers and Great Gran-lennials.

Weird choice. Lack of exposure will cause them to be forgotten and destroy their legacy. It's an especially weird choice when you consider how rich they are. It's not like they need more money.

I can't go anywhere in December without hearing "siiiiimply haaaaaving awunderful cwistmas time :3"

Other bands from around the same era have stood the test of time like Judas Priest, Black Sabbath, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zeppelin and ACDC

notice the common factor? hard rock > rock

Are most of these acts even truly standing the test of time? Judas Priest being relevant? Gimmie a fuckin break lol
