60s Zayn did a bedroom pop album???

You should check Soviet bard scene.

Many bards have performed their songs for small groups of people using a Russian guitar, and rarely, if ever, would they be accompanied by other musicians or singers. Bards who became popular were eventually able to hold modest concerts. Bards were rarely permitted to record their music, given the political nature of many of their songs. As a result, bard tunes usually made their way around via the copying of amateur recordings (known as magnitizdat) made at concerts, particularly those songs that were of a political nature.

I think Joe Meek could qualify too. Didn't he have his own studio in his apt?

Vladimir Horowitz - Horowitz at Home

John Frusciante - Niandra Lades

I'll look into him, thanks, Anon. Terry Riley purportedly recorded Reed Streams at his home studio, although there's no info on him ever having one. The Magic City was recorded at someone's loft. Monster Movie was recorded at a castle the band also lived at for awhile. These would all qualify as real examples upon reflection. The other two, Smiley Smile and McCartney I, while being mostly recorded at the artists' residences, they used outside studios. Unlike Emitt Rhodes' album which was entirely at his house and by him alone.
Didn't know about that Frusciante album, thanks, Anon.

hail to the thief was recorded at drew barrymore’s house

Wiki says they used professional studios.

oops, i meant the king of limbs. the majority was recorded at her house. ok computer was recorded at jane seymour’s mansion. some of hail to the thieg wad recorded at drew’s mansion, she is thanked in the liner notes

Studio artists capitalizing on the stripped-down DIY experimental vibe:

Bob Dylan - John Wesley Harding (1967)

The Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat (1968)

The Rolling Stones - Beggars Banquet (1968)

The Beatles - The White Album (1968)

Pink Floyd - Ummagumma (1969) [studio side]

Jimi Hendrix - Band of Gypsys (1970)

Todd Rundgren - Runt (1970)

Funkadelic - Free Your Mind and Your Ass Will Follow (1970)

Bob Marley - Soul Rebels (1970)

band of gypys is live at the fillmore east

I know, but I think in light of the aesthetic that was popular during those years, it's why he wanted to put out a raw minimalist live album, after the cacophony of Electric Ladyland. Similar to what The Beatles wanted to do with Let It Be, even though the album in 1970 was less than a an actual live reproduction.

Could possibly add L.A. Woman and Hunky Dory.

McCartney ii

you’re just making shit up, why not read what he actually thought and how the album came about, zoomie

What did I make up? My opinion on the album? Try not being retarded.

your wholly inaccurate take on what jimi thought. you don’t need to make up what you believe he thought or wanted to do, you can find out what he actually said about it himself. zoomers are lazy retards.

Artists can intend things beyond what they've said about that and in hindsight, or can you not extrapolate and infer things? Oh, wait, you're retarded.

doubling down on horseshit because you are unwilling to read. and thinking you are bright and going to eduate me lol. your generation is cooked

Ah, the little Jimi fanatic is bugging out, how lame.

i don’t even like his music, i just actually know shit about music and don’t come to a music board and make shit up. nu-mutards like you don’t belong here. you’re a dumb normalfaggot and proud of your ignorance. you can take five minutes and read the wiki for a summary to see how wrong you are. but you aren’t humble so you can’t learn. defining characteristic of the arrogant zoomie. music history should be fun if you love music. you don’t.

recorded in his kitchen
Also, several of Wildman Fischer's tracks were in his mom's home.

Metal Machine Music was recorded in Lou Reed's apartment

He came really close to killing himself, another week down and it would've happened

Well, he was one of the first artists to use someone's home to make a studio album, that's a qualifier influence for sure.
