I have corrosive sweat and can turn a set of uncoated strings black in a week even with regular hand washing before and wiping of the strings after playing.
XS are the only ones that seem to stay fresh for me more than a month, although some people don't like that "new string brightness."

I'm going to buy my first bass, and I don't have a lot of money. Some ideas I have are
1. Squier Precision bass
2. Ibanez Gio or SDGR

I use NYXL's but the thin strings go black in few days. I tried the coated XS's but they were way too slippery for me. The XT's are nice in-between but the gauge options are so limited.

I like slippery strings, but I get why someone wouldn't.
Only brand I haven't tried really are elixirs, but I am super happy with the XS so I see no reason to.
Only strings I wouldn't recommend are the Ernie Ball Paradigms; they have way too much tension in standard tuning and just feel weird to play.

Look into 80s & 90s solid-state amps, you can get Peaveys for pretty cheap, I love them
Other brands to look at would be Acoustic, Sunn, and then the usual subjects
I bought a 100W Peavey Centurion a couple years ago for about $70, and a 300W Fender BXR head for maybe $50 (but that was closer to 10 years ago)

I've got one of these
it's a piece of crap
you have to detatch the bridge pickup to remove the cover which is a massive hassle
wouldn't be so bad if it didn't cover the most comfortable place to fingerpick
the bridge pickup is super quiet so good luck getting any kind of equalisation if you use the middle position
the bridge adds string length so you need to get extra long scale strings
I use flats on mine and I wouldn't trade the little shitplank for anything
