Every song on an aulbum that isn't a single is not worth listening to. It's just filler. If the song was any good they would have just made it a single. The single pre-filters the album for you. If you're one of those people who like to listen to non-singles from an album you're just being a tryhard poser.
Every song on an aulbum that isn't a single is not worth listening to. It's just filler...
Sometimes the singles are simply the catchiest songs, not necessarily the "best"
You're missing out on the artist's intended experience if you don't listen to the full album. And non-single tracks can be pretty good sometimes too? Fuck me for responding to this dumbass bait
Singles are for normie losers like OP (a faggot). Album tracks are for intellectual chads like me (a faggot).
I very often find the best track on an album isn't the singles hit or most famous one.
this. op and singlecucks are ngmi
Correct.
thats like saying you should only watch the biggest action or spooky scene of a thriller/scary movie. You need a variety of feelings emotions and energy to fill out an album and not every one of those songs is designed for radio type listening.
dumb take because a movie requires you to watch all the scenes for the story. You don't need to listen to every song on an album since they're all independent of each other.
I use the time I save by not listening to filler to tell the people of the world how lame and dumb they are. I like to believe this is a valuable service. My way of contributing to the advancement of the human race.
You don't need to listen to every song on an album since they're all independent of each other.
outed yourself
A single is like your commercial for your album. Also Sometimes labels or in the case of rappers the big rich nigga paying everybody. Artist record 100s of songs for an album and only 12 get picked think about that. You know how many songs Eric Clapton probably has that nobody other than his close friends or family will ever hear? Rappers record 10x what bands do too Eminem probably has thousands and thousands of songs like stuff that can't even leak because its on a random hard drive in his closet or cds. A single is just a pleb filter song
Singles are good. Albums are better. If you don’t like both, you don’t like music.
Bad t8k, bad b8. Just kys
this
its not always their singles (perhaps OFTEN isnt the single) but i am choosy with songs.
i download songs i like. fuck downloading entire albums or entire discographies. im not archiving im fucking jamming.
just how i am, though. i wish i could be the type of person who could just sit back and enjoy more songs, id have a lot more to listen to. im just too picky.
The ideal album just provides a vertical slice of what you could expect the band or musician to sound like in a live setting. They were never meant to be beholden to a certain length. The industry should have made 45+ minute albums obsolete and gone the way of modern electronica, choosing to mix in EPs with singles. It happened with alternative rock for a bit, and arguably hip-hop is slowly understanding why this format works better artistically. But commercial, legacy acts will never figure it out. The filler is mandated from above. Look at KPOP, they practically force groups to record boring shit knowing that the singles are anyone cares about. Metal especially sucks in this regard, since every single band just becomes less aggressive and softens up after a while.
Smart bands make the single a cover song so people have to listen to their album or go to their shows to hear their own shit
I like good music, the difference between you and I is I can actually identify what is good, and THATS what I listen to. You're going for full coverage because you have no confidence in your ear. Its easier for you to say you like it all.
i like when bands cover obscure songs and make them their own like weezer did with africa.
But that's part of the job like if you get signed to a label you pretty much have to put out a "pop" single or else you can't afford to pay that advance you got back. You think Taylor Swift did a 632 day tour for fun? It made her a billion dollars after her pretty much losing her catalog she had to rerecord her entire first 6 albums and do a 2 year long tour to get back. It's a job at the end of the day, im sure Kpop groups are well aware what they are unless they get lucky and pop off in America
So you've only ever listened to pop albums?
I saw Melvins last night and I wish they'd just play "Goin' Blind" for once. Otherwise an amazing set.
Picrel is the album I listened to most recently
2 best songs on it are the least successful single:
youtube.com
and the best song is one of those filler tracks you mention:
youtube.com
40 or 50 is just beautiful, way better than a catchy pop jingle
How do people even have time to listen to albums? Don't you get bored?
Take your meds
If you get into vinyl it makes more sense. It's a different vibe.
ah that vinyl crackle *sips non-alcoholic home-brew craft beer with a dash of cum* just one more overpriced outdated piece of music playback technology and that god-shaped hole in my heart will surely be filled
I have a lot of saved songs and search for anything that comes on my radar so listen to individual songs probably 80% of the time
Really good albums have a vibe that carries throughout though, and sometimes it's just nice to hang and ride that wave for 45 minutes or so
There's no musical experience quite like it
you have no confidence in your ear
:?
It's literally just music, but go ahead and make everything controversial, sure.
Albums are just a product.
gotta get down to the vinyl store to buy me a new record
like single
album have more songs similar to single's style
profit
It's that simple, an even if the songs in the album aren't remotely similar it has the songwriter's
I wont deny that there arent albums with filler, but i find lazy and a waste to not listen to an album that have something similar to the song you like
I remember listening to Rusted Root because of Matilda, hoping to find more songs like Send me on my way. The group was a jam band all long, so that poppy song was just a lightning in botthe thing. The has its share of feeling, but o find a bunch of sons that I really lobe
Have you ever heard an argument so lame you don't know how to react? Are you mocking people for going out in public and having a hobby?
I know this is a bait thread. I KNOW it is. I know I shouldn't reply. But god dammit. If anyone actually feels this way about music it just means they have such shit taste...such absolutely abysmal fucking garbage taste that of all the stuff they choose to listen to, they can't a find a single whole album thats worth listening to the entire way through. A person who believed this would have to just listen to the most generic radio popslop imaginable. You're a stupid faggot, OP. Deep throat a 12-guage.

I wont deny that there arent albums with filler
I'll deny that
I was listening to the blink 182 self titled album, for the first time, and I loved every song I didn't know they were actually good
I didn't care about the singles
Only explanation is you are retarded and brain rotted. Don't fucking listen to music if you are too retarded to not have a small attention span. Go watch marvel movies or something
Why do I feel like this about Take Off Pants instead, the album that came before? Self titled has more artistry and sounds more serious and crafted but some of it just sounds the same to me and is kind of dull. Never got why people onions to that record other than the idea that it's this big new epic ambitious version of blink
Listening to music for songs
Just say you are a normie faggot who listens to music for the recognition and catching rather than artistic merits. Good albums do not have songs they have parts.
Lurk more pedestrian
Zoomie or gen Alphaqueer detected.
You ate tide pods growing up, faggot. Thus your opinion means nothing.
