It’s impossible to hold this kind of thread on this board

Unless it’s approved “Anon Babblecore”

pointless post

I'm astounded that some people like some eras of Death and hate others. I do think a couple of their albums sound transitional but none of them outright suck.

Enya
Vashti Bunyan
Yo La Tengo

Metal for people who don’t like metal.

They literally invented death metal

0 good songs
0 good riffs
Shit vocals

that would actually be Possessed

Kekekekekekek they fucking didn't, slayer did. Death metal was NOT named after death is like reddit will tell you. Death was literally the king gizzard of their time

Meant for

Nothing about Slayer is death metal

The people who hate prog-era Death are norwooding fat guys who aren't intelligent enough to understand more nuanced songwriting. I'd shit on people who don't like OG-era Death too, but I have yet to meet someone who only likes prog-era Death. Funny how prog/tech death fans can appreciate the meathead stuff but not the other way around. This is also why Obscura is lower rated than the two albums that came before it. Everyone can appreciate simple riffs, not everyone can appreciate complex riffs.

If you don't like every Death album, you're not a real Death fan. Simple as.

I like them but you know it’s true.

Not really. Seven Churches, as good as it is, is an absolute mess of an album with little focus. Scream Bloody Gore is the true original “ground zero” of Death Metal.

Whatever I like. I'm the only actual person

I blame Vulgar Display of Power for Slayer never releasing anything interesting again after their live album

Black Sabbath
Iron Maiden
Judas Priest

Chuck Schuldiner was a jew who died of AIDS

So, Pantera “killed” Slayer for you during this time period? Please elaborate…

I was convinced Slayer transitioned from thrash to power metal at that point. Divine Intervention had two thrashy songs on it and I don't remember if Diabolus in Musica had any at all. After DiM I stopped following Slayer. I blamed it on Pantera but it's possible that hanneman's decline had something to do with the absence of rad solos in their later work

Death by metal came first

Other than the squares and dweebs on this God forsaken website, not a single hater.

Nah that's stuff like Deftones or Linkin PArk

I dont like it. Its too wild. Bolt thrower is my type of death metal.

I have that album and I think it's boring. Haven't bothered with any of their others

Anon Babble only really likes super fucking shitty metal from the 80s that is impossible to listen to. See it has to be impossible to listen to so that they can have maximum exclusivity and eliteness in claiming to like it. MU is the second most faggoted board on Anon Babble after Anon Babble (who are exactly the same as mu but just with anime).

lmao Anon Babble only consooms whatever flavor of the month is currently airing
same with Anon Babble that only consists of troon kpop goon threads and flavor of the month zoomer shit/legacy albums

bump

Immolation

Death is kinda hard to hate because of the riffs and musicianship on display
but it's kinda hard to listen to at the same time imo, Chuck's the worst singer.
But yeah, you can't really hate it.

There's plenty of people who don't care for Death very much. Don't be fooled by the overinflated RYM scores. I love the band myself, but one of the chief criticisms of it is that their music is too schizophrenic, and that all their solos sound the same. And the schizophrenia got really bad on their last album (which is one of my favorites). It's as if you took a bunch of very different good songs, and cut them all up and stitched them back together.

I have really tried to get into King Diamond but I can't do it.
Where start?

maybe Merciful Fate? I couldn't really get into king diamond either

Seriously, I have been hesitant purely because of the misspelling, "Mercyful". I'm a snob like that.
Where do I begin there, then?

Homophobes hate death

I'm a bisexual homophobe and I love Death.

their 2 80s albums and then stop.

oh plus the s/t EP + demos. just all of their 80s stuff.

no one hates this band :)

The problem with Death is that their lamest album was their best on a songwriting level. Spiritual Healing is in my opinion so much better than the rest of their discography precisely because of how grounded it is. However I recognize I'm in the minority.

mercyful fate is somehow NOT power metal? huh

Sublime and all ska punk is trash. How delusional
