/gg/ - Guitar and Bass Player General

I see now why one anon said he wished EVH guitars used the Charvel shape. It just dawned on me that the 5150s were that funky Kramer shape.
Site and CAPTCHA is starting to run like ass again.

I love the smell of new guitar nitro in the morning.

If it smells, it's off-gassing, aging, accumulating vintage particles in the coat.

It's brand new right out of the box. I didn't expect FedEx to be here on Sunday.

Same, but for me it's the Jaguar.

Do you have them set up differently?

"HILS NEXT HN3 Electric Guitar in Satin Black"

need technique tips
when playing with high distortion, I find it hard to articulate palm muted semiquavers on low strings. Like you cannot hear each clean pick attack through the amplifier, even though I can hear it acoustically, just through the string noise. Through the amplifier, it just sounds like one note.
Playing with less distortion clears it up a bit, but this makes other parts of the riff harder to play, especially the pinch harmonics

tubes are warming up

WTF?

something to tighten up the low end

the problem is your room

Lol nobody is buying amps anymore

Don't laugh

Im going to exchange my 4 string bass tomorrow for a 5 string. I'm pretty excited for it. I'll also drop off my RBX at a shop to get repaired.

Why am I not a fan of jazz chords?

That's because all guitars play through the same amp.

I just bought the Complete Beato Method

Just did the Metal Method and got the keys to the Lamborghini

methods

Just learn songs. Just use your ears

Kramers are good guitars

Shilling this book for any other beginners at bass. This is definitely worth 20 bucks. Also once u figure out how to read it, it's easy to fly through. Of course nothing is cemented yet but being able to quickly do something feels good. Goal is to finish this book before the end of the summer.

Keep learning any way you can bro.

How dare you

old speakers are good

Will do. It's really fun once I start to figure things out. I feel like I'm not retarded at times. It's great.

The bridge looks ugly cheap and out of place. should be black. knobs should be shiny black dome knobs
1/10

I just bought this. gets here this week

my plans are to replace the saddles with compensated saddles from gotoh (i do this with all teles), change the pickguard to black (looks better with that finish) and replace the humbucker with a PAF style and the bridge with a Broadcaster style
debating putting a blend circuit in but i'll decide later

anon has a lot of other issues tbqh

How does that old tele bridge even work? I've heard they can be a nightmare to deal with.

Is it really that difficult? the pickup is just mounted to the bridge with screws, and bridge is screwed into a flat piece of wood which thus becomes a guitar.

I'm talking about the 3 saddle design on the guitar you posted. I've heard they're difficult to adjust for string height+ intonation. I have a tele with my newer 6 saddle vintage bridge design.

How does that old tele bridge even work?

Very poorly, hence why I swap the saddles for compensated ones with every single Tele I own.
The original design is shit you can't intonate individual strings, just 2 at a time. Compensated saddles allow you to get a lot more accurate intonation. Not always perfect, but close enough that I have never had an isssue

the ones i always use

Oh yeah those look fairly fucked up, with 3 saddles design usually the idea is that first and third tilt up, and the middle points the other way, but those look just straight, and there aren't any convincing cuts that would guide strings.

I'm in the middle of a long, long-needed picking breakthrough. Being self-taught can be a bitch because you don't find out about things like picking angles until years after your bad habits are formed.

perfectly fine if you use a wound g string (like you should)

I’ve been getting a lot of new riffs out of the Mustang and Noventa JM. My thesis has been verified, buying 5 guitars in quick succession has increased my playtime fivefold and in turn is leading to a lot of new riffs, songs, and learning new techniques via playing other people’s songs. I’ve reached a new peak after years of inactivity and a few months of dusting off rust. Feels good, another upside of all the time playing is rediscovering riffs and songs I wrote almost a decade ago that are better than I remember them being.

What's the best way to learn guitar for someone who suffers from social anxiety.

Asking for a friend.

Thanks this is the answer I was looking for. You should post a voca after you're done with your project so we can hear what it sounds like. I'm curious.

I do not know where we as a society went wrong that this image no longer reflects the cultural zeitgeist. Jesus wept.

nice x100 the new pedals sound like shit

two more weeks

I'm speechless
