Musically speaking what is going on in these countries?
The Tokyo Drift song.
I'm honestly surprised whenever I remember they have electricity
Who cares? Nobody cared when they were throwing live women and children into fires by the thousands.

Literally every musician in Cambodia got executed back in the 70s.
Mostly a hybridizing of eastern and western musics in various forms (jazz, pop, rock, rap, especially). Singapore stands out because its the only fully industrialized state, and arts are somewhat a priority there.
Their old music is based. No idea what they do rn
I DID IT MYYYYY WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY

Myanmar:
I'm gonna be honest, my knowledge of Burmese music is super lacking. There's some cool classical stuff, but I'm well-versed enough to give anything more than the first YouTube result for the one name I do know

Thailand:
If you're drained, Thaiboy Digital (of Drain Gang fame) is from here

The Philippines in general are very worth checking into musically. Filipino music fans don't put Brazilians to shame or anything, but they can be very passionate about their music
Vietnam:
The V-Pop scene is nowhere hear as big as its northern counterparts, but still respectable

Malaysia:
I don't actually know much Malay music, but this has been on my list of things to check out for a minute

Indonesia:
I mentioned Burmese classical music earlier as a bit of an aside, but Indonesian classical music is fucking awesome. Gamelan is probably the only style of music from SEA that has really influenced anyone in the Western popular music sphere, with artists like David Byrne and Sakamoto Ryƫichi both being hugely into it. K.R.T. Wasitodiningrat is one of best out there, in my opinion

Singapore:
Someone mentioned earlier in this thread that Singapore is the only fully industrialized state in the region, so there's a lot of popular music compared to other nations. I like yeule a lot, and they have a new album coming out soon too!

Apparently something good, that's for sure
I don't actually know much Malay music

For Myanmar you forgot those tapes from the 80s that RYM and Anon Babble used to cream themselves over like that Naang Naang album.
They have a weird obsession with Avenged Sevenfold though, other bands who are strangely popular there are My Chemical Romance, The 1975 and The Script:

51 Maroon 5
60 Arctic Monkeys
91 Avenged Sevenfold
98 My Chemical Romance
103 The 1975
119 The Script

Why are there so many guitar cover videos from Indonesia? I thought Muslims weren't allowed to listen to music.
there are 30 million Christians in Indonesia
I only know of a few hardcore bands
indonesia has a pretty western alt style scene from what I understand in a similar way to japan

Not entirely true, Rich Brian (fka Rich Chigga) is from Indonesia originally, although one rapper (who moved to the United States immediately after gaining viral success) doesn't really constitute much of a scene
