I sat down today to watch some of his videos for the first time in maybe 4-5 years. Good lord. I could not stomach it. The smugness made me want to puke. Made me remember why I stopped using Reddit. I am bewildered how such an essence of Reddit can exist and have so much influence
How does he live with himself?
*gets vasectomy*
you are probably triggered by him because you are a terrible person
but keep projecting, he is liked by many and you by no one
he used to be cool
you should be getting off Anon Babble and studying for that GED, bud
Yeah I liked fantano a lot when I was teen but now that I'm over 25 I really don't get the appeal. Like who cares what Fantano thinks about anything. Like why the fuck would I care what Fantano has to say about how he felt about an album? It's crazy because he really jerks himself off to the though that he is one of the most important cultural influencers in the music space. But what he really is is a YouTuber that makes content for teenagers.
I hope he gets run over by a truck
When fagtano was actually good he was a "terrible person". Do you honestly think his content is better now?
Yeah the concept of criticism is only for teenagers. Off yourself you worthless tard
I never really got his appeal, honestly. I don’t hate him or anything I just think he’s boring and not very funny.
I hate him and I Don't get his appeal
His videos are much more cynical now, it's all 'content' now.
he is liked by many
But not by wifey, hence the divorce.
He's the embodiment of Reddit. Also, like most Redditors, his taste in music is incredibly bad.
now that I’m 25
Oooh we got a really big boy over here. All grown up
For being a youtuber for over 15 years now and for how much content he's released 3 million subscribers really isn't that impressive in the end. Sure I respect his work ethic and music reviewing is a bit niche but what doesn't help him is that his content has genuinely not improved ever since the beginning
Nah he really tries to pander to kids with the faggy flannel thing, the former meme reviews and zoomer lingo in his fagtano videos, sucking the dick of artists like kendrick lamar to get le black cred, etc...
i watched the to be kind review and i sigh remembering the good old days, right after i played the newest clip and it was some tranny drivel without anything noteworthy
His Ye take was the final straw for me.
Dude has never refused to review an album on moral grounds before, despite plenty of scummy behaviour from artists that actually hurt and abused real people as well as plenty of horrendous and discriminatory political takes.
But Ye saying he loved Hitler was a line too far apparently.
And he can't even say that he didn't want to feed into the attention that Ye was getting for his controversial comments because he still made and makes plenty of content about Ye. He just refused to review his album as a moral display.
It's just cringe and unprofessional. If he had come out and said that in this case he was just unable to seperate the art from the artist and therefore couldn't give a valid review I would respect him for that, but of course he wouldn't say this because it would make him look like the amateur critic that he actually is.
Anyway I guess every album review Fantano does now is a co-sign of that artists worldview, at least to some extent. What a fucking retard.
Yeah that was super faggy of him. Him making that decision should have been said on his twitter or be put on a yunoreview, or even just stay away from the album entirely. But instead he made a 7 minute video over why he wont review the album and acting like he's hovering above the rest. Anthony clearly didn't give a fuck about Kanye not getting more attention as the video was produced to generate buzz for his shitty channel
I don't even like Kanye but that whole thing with fantano was some cynical horseshit
Dude has never refused to review an album on moral grounds before
Yes he has. He didn't review Peste Noire's L'Ordure à l'état Pur, despite saying he enjoyed it. Then later on he said he regrets not reviewing it, and then the Fader thing happened, which flipped a switch in his head, so he probably doesn't regret it anymore. He also removed his review of Deathspell Omega's The Furnaces of Palingenesia, after he was made aware of the vocalist's nazi affiliations, and that was despite rating the album highly. But that was already after the Fader thing.
what he really is is a YouTuber that makes content for teenagers
...which makes him a cultural icon shaping the mind of whole generation(s), for better or worse (and there's much much worse)
MEANWHILE we're all stuck hating and reeeeeing on 4chin.... SAD!
The fact he stopped focusing on underground music and jumped on the rap bandwagon for the views is telling that he doesn’t give a fuck anymore. I don’t really blame him desu, it would be a comfy well paying job
cultural icon
Huge stretch, his content is relatively niche because most kids don't care about watching a 10 minute video of some 40 year old dude just talking about an album, and rightfully so. Again for someone who's been around as long as he has and for how much content he creates from day to day, his views or sub count isn't terribly impressive for today's standards on YT
It changed over time.
black background/tree era
At this point he was one of the very few to do this type of "bedroom vlogging" when it comes to music reviews. Music discourse was mostly randos only talking about one genre or a few bands. He was the one generalist to be consistent, articulate enough and have a fairly broad scope in what he listened to. That set him apart from anyone else at the time. The competition was full of amateurs not even hiding their messy bedrooms while he had his own experience as a radio DJ.
brown background, Cal incursions era
Arguably his peak. He was interested and invested, still put effort into covering a wide range of releases and not just chase clicks by only covering big releases. So his channel was a great way to discover music you otherwise wouldn't find, and the review gave you an idea of what to expect and see if you were interested.. Around this time, he joined an MCN which helped a lot with upolad consistency. Should not be a surprise that this is when his more popular formats (classics week, YUNOreview, shirts) appeared
Coincided with his shitpost channel being top and that unfortunately led to
post-Fader article era
Melon-man gets into a really dumb controversy over some actual literal whos accusing him of posting racist-ish memes on his shit post channel. He completely gives in and things really seem to have had an impact on him mentally. He gets gradually demotivated in his reviews but also starts posting more and more op-eds and commentary on his new second channel.
livestream era
At this point Fantano is just fully on-board with operating a content farm, putting more of his own energy into commenting on musican news, editorials and his livestreams. Starts outsourcing some of the reviews which may honestly be for the best. In short, this is where Fantano turns into a NeedleDrop publication outlet which is exactly what he wasn't and him not being that is what made him appealing in the first place.
Again for someone who's been around as long as he has and for how much content he creates from day to day, his views or sub count isn't terribly impressive for today's standards on YT
He's probably the most known figure in the genre he does on Youtube now and for an average music nerd consumer it's really something that he's made probably more than ten million dollars off of Youtube by just sharing his thoughts about albums that he superficially listened to a few times.
imagine caring about this bald cuck
I don't think he's a good person. He's just virtue signaling like all other leftist creators like idubbz, Ethan Klein, hassan ect. Most of them don't even try to really dig deep into an issue they just pick the gay free version and run with it
Haven't seen any of his videos in ages but he used to seem more genuine I think, now he's just contrarian for the sake of being contrarian and doesn't seem to really care about the music (kind of like Anon Babble really)
More often than not they start in-fighting and eating their own. I am still betting that the bald cuck is at some point going to have a small trivial opinion on an absurd topic which will make Redditors screech.
He deserved the divorce.
Hassan probably fucked a child in those human trafficking brothels he goes to.
Idt he is virtue signaling, I think he's honest in what he believe, sounds like more a (you) issue
He’s a sexy man
for those of you who are wondering why Fantano gets hate from the Anon Babble tourist MAGA trash, this is the "non-review" review of NazYe's Vultures that hurt their fee-fees.
virtue signaleeeeennnn
cry more about it. or start your own music review YouTube channel, and when it fails you can just snivel about "cancel culture" or whatever.
He said Daft Punk was good and MF Doom was good and so I know he has good taste because I also think those are good. I don't really care about any other bands he has discussed
they are such pathetic worms
Who else would he live wit-oh...
NTA, but I don't believe that what he proclaims aligns with the things he does. After his sharp turn in platforming policy following the Fader article, he announced that he wouldn't be covering projects by right-wing extremists, even if the opinion he would express is negative, because it would still give them more publicity. But despite that, he has continued to talk about Kanye West. And he's talked about him a lot, especially on his second channel. It's obvious why he does it, people tune it for those videos, but doesn't that go completely against his previously stated policy? And what's the reason that he doesn't want to specifically cover far-right figures in the first place? If one reasonably assumes that it's to not perpetuate harm, them wouldn't that also obligate him to not platform far-left extremists, which he has done repeatedly, even in the form of collaborations? And here I mean terrorist supporters like Hassan Piker, and avid anti-white racists like F.D Signifier. I think what he cares about is signaling for his political side, no matter how extreme, and making money in a way that doesn't put him in the crosshairs of woke (and I mean truly woke, like that Fader hit piece) publications. He doesn't strike me as a person who holds actual ethical values that guide his actions.
That's great and all but that doesn't mean he's a cultural icon, like that's just nut hugging kek
he's made probably more than ten million dollars off of Youtube
Alright let's not get crazy here
Yeah, how embarassing it must be to listen to music all day and make review videos as your job and get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year doing so while also being a minor celebrity.
meow!
