But back in the late 80s, early 90s, the medical world did not know about the real cause of gastritis, a bacterium called Helicobacter pylory.

I have this shit and every year it's making me go through torture. It's like having knives stuck in your stomach. Every time I've been taking medicines to make it go away. It keeps coming back. Been keeping a diet and it still recurs.

But Kurt back then was in a very unlucky position, doctors had no treatment for this. All he could do is take opioids to keep the pain at bay. At some point a doctor gave him a substitute for heroin, a variant of meth, that was a lot safer but it was a bit illegal because it was a research drug, not exactly sold.
For a while he was able to use that and keep things in check. Then that doctor died and he had no source for it anymore, so he went back to heroin.

I'm not glamourising his story or anything, just saying, you don't know the shit some people have been going through with chronic gastritis.
