UK festivals are dying

UK festivals are dying

WTF is this SHITE

Who in 2024 is paying top brass to see fucking James and "The Reytons"

James are great and one of the most underrated britpop bands
The rest sucks though

We want the over 40's market

UK

dying

sounds about right

Stereophonics headliner

The Lathums and The fucking Reytons second billing

grim

The Reytons

Fuck you we're great

dizzee rascal that fucking low

bluetones and starsailor still on the graft

sigrid out of nowhere

all those interchangeable neo-landfill toffs

oh dear

where's oasis

shaggin ur mum

I remember the guy from the Bluetones had some abuse allegations by his ex wife a few years ago but I guess nothing came out of them

Knebworth

only £750 a ticket

go suck a fuck

£750 a ticket

You're joking right?

James are shite but still better than Oasis

I know james for that one song, I know the stereophonics by name only, and ocean colour scene for having that one song in lock stock and two smoking barrels that made me think their other songs might be good but they weren't.

fuck England and everyone in it
I hope you have a BAD weekend

I heard Green Man was supposed to be decent this year.

It's a festival for people that couldn't get a ticket for any Oasis show but still want to do coke in a field whilst listening to middling indie

Culture is dead mate

Lmao that crap is barely better than the OP

You know poptimism has gone too far when Primavera - the hip, cool, alternative music festival - is being headlined by a Disney Channel actress and the world's most annoying theatre kid.

Neighborhood weekender, how long has that even been a thing? Stuff like Glasto, Reading & Leeds, Isle of Wight are where it's at.

James is a Portuguese band in all but name now

Worth it to listen to Pure Phase in its entiretly

The Wombats

lmao

dizzee rascal

jesus, its a terrible lineup but who on earth thought he would add something to it?

Amelie lens

Just a trend, an overrated shit producer and mediocre dj. Same goes for simmilar shit like dj python, black Madonna, Nina Kravitz, Boris brecha and simmilar shit techno landfill

Hah thats a joke. The Wombats suck shit.
Ocean Colour Scene are trash
Dizee Rascal and Stereophonics were cool in 2004 but not anymore
James are ok but old af

Someone needs to explain why the music in the UK is the way it is.

no more venues

people have no money to go out

No one is being creative and making anything new

Anything half decent gets elevated way beyond its station before its had time to grow and actually become something relevant before it dies out and is forgotten

throw away society

Social media

People filming gigs

Less independent labels

tiny cartel of commercial radio stations

Soho becoming gentrified

ticketmaster

All these tiny things add up, its also not a unique uk problem.

The only solution is to destroy smart phones/social media, make booze cheaper and less licensing restrictions for venues. Then you can try to combat the actual industry

That's just to get the zoomer audience. The rest is peak millenial P4K core:

Caribou

Jamie XX

Beach House

TV on the Radio

The Jesus Lizard

Stereolab

Salem

LCD Soundsystem

Cap'n Jazz

Destroyer

brit

only heard of the Stereophonics and Dizzee Rascal and Starsalior

Who the fuck are The Reytons? Why do they sound like an even shittier Artic Monkeys?
Every Inhaler song sounds the same. Half of these bands sound like the kind of thing that would be included in an early 2010s FIFA soundtrack out of pity.

JAMES

cap'n jazz & destroyer that hidden

wtf? i very nearly missed that

How the fuck did Sabrina become an indie darling all the sudden

the desperation to find women who can hit the play button on a cdj has hit the bottom. at least nina was hot, now the hilarity of watching 'feminist djs' shake their tits whilst claiming they're under-represented is wearing thin

really good summary..
this point

>Anything half decent gets elevated way beyond its station before its had time to grow and actually become something relevant before it dies out and is forgotten

is so under-recognised. i'd combine it with the fact that the moment anything minisculely different emerges its istantly co-opted by everyone.

>Soho becoming gentrified

hello fellow boomer :) i think there's a point here about gentrification, but central london was lost in the early 2000s...

she made a shit joke about liking black penis. all the girls were like
"she's literally me".

i'd combine it with the fact that the moment anything minisculely different emerges its istantly co-opted by everyone

Agreed social media and globalisation are at fault for this

Subcultures like Northern Soul, Ska music or even bands like the Rolling Stones could never happen today.

Grime and dubstep will probably be the last subculture to emerge. They had time to incubate and develop into something resilient before exploding onto the mainstream.

hello fellow boomer

;)

central london was lost in the early 2000s

Yes but Soho needs to be saved as its the entertainment capital of the UK and has all the musical heritage and history of this country in its streets. All of it is getting replaced by rich kids opening bubble tea and korean bbq restaurants.

YWN be a A&R exec living and working in 90's/early00's Soho

JDIMSA

All the venues getting shut down and young people not being able to afford to go out is also a major issue that needs resolving.
