Can you quantitfy more popular? Zeppelin had more #1 albums in the UK then they did the US. Obviously they sold more in the US cuz there is way more people but they were very popular in the UK. Knebworth was a huge deal in the UK at the time as was the reunion show.

Bush is the best example

Malcolm Young (rhythm guitarist) was Scottish too

Bongs don't listen to those bands, they were in the 70s listening to completely different stuff especially glam rock.

I just think that they had more of an impact in america than here(UK) and that they would get recognised more than here too. Their sound just resonated with america more.

Fleetwood Mac

That's my point, kinda weird/interesting

U2 were Irish and literally supported The IRA too.

Embarrassing, the aussies try to claim them australians with a straight face

The Yard Birds probably not. Eric Clapton I could see but people in The USA don't really talk about The Yardbirds as much as Beatles. I think what you're thinking is more actually Cream.
Yeah I know it's retarded lol.

just resonated with america more.

you need more than your random opinion if you want to make an actual case for your statement.

I mean look at these lads and lasses- they are ready to rock and roll lol

There are 300 million unitedstatians and only 66 million in UK.

These guys are from England and who gives a shit?

Lot of people.

they never supported the ira, they cried out against the ira

Would also add

Judas Priest

Van Morrison

Motörhead

Yeah probably except Yardbirds, nobody gives a fuck about the Yardbirds here outside of the trivia question about Beck/Clapton/Page

Bush was another band the UK didn't care about.

you can replace U2 (way more popular in the UK than in the US, not to mention Irish) with the Rolling Stones, you're right about the rest

Zeppelin had 3x more success in the US than in the UK, adjusting for population difference

Wow I just realized Led Zeppelin is a British band, they really do seem like one of the most American bands ever, maybe it's their black music larping. It was the same thing I had when I found out Eric Burdon and the Animals were not American but British. The British Invasion blues larp was so strong, think only the Beatles and Kinks sounded outwardly British early on until psychedelia took over in the UK and then it became cool to sing in a British accent. There's a Small Faces quote I think it's Hendrix telling Steve Marriott to sing in his own accent instead of doing the black larp which gave birth to this song:

Sounds almost like early britpop

Some in this list are equal though Black Sabbath and Pink Floyd are equally popular in the UK as in the US. Yardbirds also don't belong there outside of like Clapton and Beck's prominence in America.

Nah the Rolling Stones were equally as massive in the UK

I just realized Led Zeppelin is a British band

imagine being this fucking clueless.

US: 92m albums
UK: 17m albums (about 68m population-adjusted)

young people don't care about your shitty boomer band, cry about it

Albums

Were more of a singles nation

all the bands listed, apart from Bush, are just as big in the UK. might as well put Coldplay, Ed Sheeran etc. you just get to a level where you outgrow the country (unless you’re Oasis)

Led Zepplin, Black Sabbath and Def Leppard are in no way even close to being more popular in the UK

nah. its not even that. its just straight ignorance. being so completely oblivious to the world around you. are all zoomers this fucked?

Bush
The Outfield
Slick Rick
Peter Frampton
half of Foreigner

could all walk into a Greggs or a Costa Coffee unnoticed

it's not that deep, their songs sound very American, whole lotta love, dazed and confused?

This video is also etched into my mind and gave me the impression they're American

The Zombies

retard

The Outfield

Your Love has over 1 billion streams on Spotify with a decent amount from the UK

not really, or maybe in the sense that you love compilations (way more than in the US), but the Stones sold 41m singles in the US and 8.5m in the UK
