How is Youtube Music not the number one service?

You get all the songs, plus ad free youtube, which everyone on the planet should want.

Just use YouTube with ad block, retard

Fucking dimwit with no reading comprehension detected

does it have smart playlists like itunes where i can create a playlist based on a multitude of criteria?

What kind of criteria

spotify is easier to use.

in itunes you can set pretty much any criteria imaginable. what i mostly care about is combinations of the following criteria: song rating, song length, and genre

they often replace the album version of the song with the music video if there is a video version of the song

there's a button to switch to audio only which is the album version

Oh yeah that's one the main issues. Also, sometimes they have different albums issues of albums and and it's a pain in the ass to search for those other songs of the exact album issue.
Another recent problem I had, it's when they add a new issue from an album and I can't see the songs I liked again . This happened to me with Autechre and Nico. It's probably a location issue because it still appears the same amount of liked songs I had, but it's annoying to once again give likes to a discog.

but isn't youtube the biggest or second after fb though?

i have it and it's fine. biggest issue is it never recommends anything new to me. every category relates to stuff i've already listened to eg "Forgotten Favorites" "In Your Library" "Listen Again" it doesn't seem to understand or care about what i listen to despite doing the "improve my recommendations" thing multiple times

google play music was way better and i have no idea why youtube music STILL doesn't have the same amount of features gpm had. also with google's track record i won't be surprised if ytm just disappears one day

This. It could be a better offer but the app kinda sucks compared to Spotify.

Simply, branding. Most people automzatically associate youtube with videos, not music, and this will never change no matter how hard they try. The same thing happened to Disney in the late 80s; they tried to produce slightly darker, more mature, adult-oriented movies using the Disney name, and even though most were critically well-received, they all flopped with audiences, because most people automatically associate disney with fairy tale family children's movies; it wasn't until they created the subsidiary studio Touchstone Pictures that they were able to successfully break into new markets without suffering from the baggage of their brand. This is what youtube failed to do, & what caused youtube music to lose against spotify

Spotify is vastly superior, however I have Premium so I was forced to use Youtube Music to save money since I like to download videos and play them at work.
I do like how Youtube Music has access to all the covers I could ever want, including official releases that were only ever released in video form and thus not accessible in Spotify.

because it fucking sucks
also its basically just a skin on top of youtube.
which means its easier (imo) to just search for music on youtube and make playlists in the normal ui than it is to use youtube music.
i tried using youtube music for a while but idk makes me feel like how spotify felt 10 years ago.

So just search for the song you want and you'll get the normal album version instead of the music video version

It's the best music streaming service IMO

i could change to spotify, but youtube has a bigger catalog and i have a bunch of playlists there with more than a thousand songs each that i can't be bothered to recreate them again

I prefer YT music to Spotify mainly because you can access unofficial uploads of songs that were uploaded to Youtube

fan remixes > officially released music

it took google too long to release an spotify competitor
initially youtube was the place to go to listen to music (it made mtv obsolete) then spotify appeared and it was even easier to listen to music and google did nothing to stop them until several years later when they released google play music and several rebrandings later we got the current youtube music but it was too late

I hate that with my soul.

it's probably just that a lot of people already have their shit on Spotify and can't be bothered to change over. the usual problem with a new service

I like 24bit audio. It sounds a lot more dynamic on my system. But I'm not gonna pretend I'm hearing higher frequencies or any of that bullshit.

I love it. It's great.

This doesn't happen with premium. Or in recent updates I think. You can choose if you're going to listen to album or video version on the app.

Unusable on a technical level. Shit queue function, no automatic playlist sorting, no playlist scroll bar, big playlist shuffles frequently brick... The way bigger music selection is neat, but I wont use it until the put in the minimal amount of required effort (i.e. never)

a new service

it started in 2015 though, around the time Spotify became relevant

If they brought back topic channel comments but just for premium then it would legit be the best music service to be honest, only thing though is that Spotify has party and jams and a bunch of other features that mog youtube. But I'd rather be able to read comments again, it used to be fun because it would be the only real place you could engage with some people on super obscure music.

the other + of youtube music is that you get songs that wouldn't appear on Spotify, since anyone can upload anything, can upload some bootleg live recording of a band from 75 that has never gotten an official release, it makes it better to find and listen to a lot of music, and less costly than just using soulseek or something as the space accumulates.

What is a topic channel? I'm listening to Zheani right now and I can comment on her songs through YouTube Music and see users comments.

I only know people with spotify or apple music, so I end up using those to have people to follow.

Ublock Origin and questionably legal downloading methods so I'm not limited to whats on YT music

it was extremely unpopular before 2019 so the point remains the same

It has higher quality sound than normal youtube

People like paying for dumb shit, I really don't get it either. Youtube not only gives u all the songs but also the ability to listen to any other video youtube has.

Yes and they break playlists all the time with their retarded site changes nobody asks for, I see it all the time in the comments of songs.

Because I'm not giving my money to jews.

implying you have a choice.

you get made fun of for using it tho

everyone on the planet

in my shithole you only get youtube music for the same price as a spotify subscription, while the ad free youtube sub is way more expensive. So people just get spotify lol

I don't know what happens but my Youtube Music playlist is considerably worse than my Spotify playlist, so I listen to my Spotify playlist instead.
