Please ahh!

I need help finding a song. Been looking for 10 or so years.

Prev thread: 2000s alt-rock? Indie? Male/androgynous sounding singer. Possibly more than one vocalist.

Opening sounds similar to chasing cars but goes on longer. First(?) Vocalist is more high pitched almost dreamlike.

Please note it's been around 10 years so may have misheard lyrics. The same 4 note chord plays throughout the gentle opening. Almost a simialr sound to the opening of "the piano knows something I don't know" from patd.

"Gloria, oh let's dance, I'll be gone(?)"
"Be careful, what you wish for, your wish (for it?) May come true, something something. Colors fade away (to grey?) In the end."
The song gets more intense as it goes on. After that first bit of lyrics a short gutair riff plays and the song gets louder and cruncher(?!)

"Two faced, believe what's worth on your arm"?

Towards the apex of the song, "for what it's worth, well I LOOOOOOVE YOUUU", as that loud I love you fades there is someone singing over it, "don't let it la~ast, forever. In the end"

The song ends with that same gentle opening singer, last lines being "colors fade away/to gray(?) In the end".

It is not panic at the disco, Fallout boy, Coldplay, green day, postal service, death cab for cutie, muse, Linkin park.

Anberlin - Inevitable has a similar opening riff sequence.

Please. It's been almost 10 years. If it's allowed I'll award the finder via paypal.

Vocaroo of opening riff (riff was gutair) vocaroo.com/1oWpej4fyoac

Will post another with lyric melody

I don't know why it's so crunchy but here's melody to opening verses

Yeah no idea about the quality. Here's another bit that I think plays before the last (repeated as first) stanza. vocaroo.com/

Possibly misheard remember.

"For what it worth, well I lo-OVe you. Don't let it la~ast forever (bg vocalizaion ahhh, ah) for what it's worth, well I LOOOOOOOOAUUUVE YOUUuu don't let it la~ast forever... in the end

This reminds me of trying to find some song I saw like 10 years ago posted on funnyjunk. It was someone's band they asked people to check out. I think it might have been deleted off of youtube.

I'm sweating from embarrasment, but if this is what it takes

The gutair wasn't so crunchy sounding. It was more mellow

Still no clue what song this is, but I'll keep the thread bumped for you.

Thank you! I love you, I can split prize pot once identified so you can get yourself a mcchicken

where did you hear the song? did it sound like radio commercial music? or more natural

Bumping this

It was added by my sister to my first ipod around 2011. She doesnt recognize any bit of it, so we suspect it was added to her library by my brother's friend anywhere from 2005-2008. The song may be older. I cant be 100% but I beleive the album art was mostly black. Maybe 5 or so minutes in legnth.

The voice sounded almost like it had a filter over it? Sorry there's likely a musical term for that I'm unaware of. "Do you know what I'm seeing?" By panic at the disco has a similar vibe in it's opening, how it progresses.
Def not a radio or commercial feel.

Sounds like it could be a coldplay or radiohead song. Has that weird indescribable early 2000s sound to it. Man. I wish I could remember more.

To transition to a harsher sound a decent ways into the song, (after some vocals end before heavier gutair) there is a soft electronic beep cord. G F E D. gotta be the same sound effect/sample used in panic at the discos camisado.

Out of the three, the first one. It has the same slightly melancholy tone, but the music itself is too artificial if that makes sense? Like, in the song I'm after you could pick apart each instrument.

The second two are too happy sounding
:( The vocals at 1:00 sound kinda similar to the colors fade singer.

There were a few other artists I was unfamiliar with when given the ipod. Underneath the sycamore by death cab for cutie and nth degree by morningwood are 2 I can recall.

Thank you so much for taking the time, really

Good luck, George Costanza. :D

op is just making an elaborate shill for his own music

Hey OP, all of this felt so bizarre to read/listen to. I feel fairly certain that I know the song you're searching for... because I believe I wrote it. We were just a small, obscure indie band from about twenty or so years ago. It feels flattering to know someone cares that much about our work so many years later.

Unfortunately, most of our band's online presence has been scrubbed after a bad break up and a lot of drama (long story, don't want to get into it). You might be able to find some old stuff about our band on MySpace or something.

I don't have any copies of the song, or any of our other music for that matter, but the song you're looking for is called "(If I Could) Wish On a Star". Good luck!

Nah you're full of shit sorry bud

Someone out here has 2 know

F

Had a song I haven't been able to identify on my drive for a while, it sounds very similar to what you're describing. Is this it?
