John Frusciante, aka the greatest guitarist of all time.
I'm actually tempted to agree because he has actual good music to back it up. All the other so-called virtuosos haven't worked on anything nearly as good as Niandra LaDes or Frances the Mute.
Like what's Steve Vai's claim to fame? Playing on Zappa's weakest albums? Filling in for Robert Fripp on the recent 80s King Crimson tour? Being a walking billboard for whatever guitar brands he uses? The hype is all manufactured in the case of Vai and others like him.
Exactly. John Frusciante is the greatest guitarist of all time and a musical genius. There is no one like him and there will never be so.
Also don't forget Ataxia and The Empyrean.
BSSM is also an amazing guitar album. Frusciante was just bursting at the seams with creativity.
i just got into this guy after finding a go go in an antique shop for a couple of bucks. which other albums would you recommend?
mk.gee and it's not even close
James hetfield
Uberjam for that modern funky beats jam band stuff, Shinola for three dudes in a small club playing straight ahead jazz vibe. You can also check out any project with him as sideman, he recently delivered in Scary Goldings.

Tfw always told my dad I wanted to be the best guitarist in the world and I he would always say ‘no matter what you do, there will always be a million Asian kids who can do it better’
So I’m gonna assume some Asian kid is the best atm
your dad is a retard. no asian has ever been good at guitar. or any rock instrument
Based.
It's Tommy Emmanuel as far as I'm concerned.
