Because it was a pretty narrow genre to begin with and there's just not a lot of room to manoeuvre within the boundaries of the style. There's only so much mileage you can get out of that melodic minor scale single note riff gimmick, you know? Unlike blackthrash for example, which is an entire genre based around one fucking riff, the melodeath gimmick wears out its welcome pretty fast.
I will say albums like Slaughter of the Soul and Heartwork are legitimate classics of the 90s, but most of their imitators just didn't have anywhere to go, so it usually comes off as watered down and plain inferior to what inspired it. Plus, a lot of the bands inspired by Sot S in particular veered regrettably into metalcore territory.
The third Dissection album is either melodeath or just dark satanic hard rock depending who you ask but I think it's a really good example of how to do melodic metal well without just sounding like another At The Gates rip off.

Classical music implies a deliberate structure, and that structure emerges convergently whenever music becomes large enough to accommodate it. Sonata form is one of the most important inventions/discoveries for classical music, otherwise I think it wouldn't even evolve past smaller forms.

Most of the guitar tracks are for example straight up line signal taken out of the mixing board. There is lots of mixing done too to blend them all together - this might be not the case for all releases, but plenty of releases utilize it. It's basically a studio performance with added live vocals on top of it and audience noises...

Sodomatic Slaughter found the master tape from his personal collection in 2010 and band started to prepare it for releasing. In this album you can hear 2 totally unreleased tracks and rest are totally different versions you haven’t hear before. Nuclear Holocausto Vengeance and Sodomatic Slaughter recorded this as a duo and it was a live sessions in studio.

Especially in late quartets/sonatas/symphonies etc. Repetition can happens during exposition, some skip it entirely, but I think it's absolutely necessary especially for the first listen, so you can memorize the themes, remember that before we had recordings you would hear a piece maybe once in a lifetime. There's also recapitulation which marks the end of development, without these repetitions music won't sound coherent or balanced. But development section has almost no repetition, it's almost completely free style, reusing the material from exposition in different keys time etc. Even in Waldstein. You can always listen to recordings which skip exposition repeat, but repeats don't bother me at all, it makes the music more coherent and easier to grasp.

Yes but both are vocal/choral works and they use fugal or tenary forms, sometimes they're thoroughly composed. Purely instrumental forms with development section is mostly Haydn's invention. And it helped shaping orchestral and chamber music genres. In a Haydn or Beethoven symphony you'll always hear recurring motifs between movements, not to mention in the movements itself. Classical era was about this 'form' and structural balance as I understand it.

The complete mastery of all forms, harmony, techniques and most of all, form is what's pointed out. The reason why Jupiter's finale is so cherished is not just because of invertible counterpoint fugue blah blah,but because it used all the previous main themes for it, thus culminating the symphony. But I'm not very optimistic, since it would take me years to master forms and counterpoint. So this is just a fun hobby of mine. I'd be happy if I could write Chopinesque preludes someday at least.

You can play as much voices as you want, just layer guitars. You said this before and it got me thinking why do you expect to play all the voices with just one guitar? Use pick and play 2-3 voices each, if you want polyphony then just play 1 voice per guitar (3 with bass), you can also just layer 3rd guitar for 4 voices, and synth etc. You can make it like chamber music where each instrument plays their own voices, or like symphony (Marduk layers 16 guitars or something). A bass and 2 guitars, the standard, already offers at least 3 voices. Play intervals with one and you get 4.
