The greatest death metal album of all time just turned 30,whats your favourite track?

The greatest death metal album of all time just turned 30,whats your favourite track?

Misanthrope. And it's more of a progressive metal album if you ask me.

It's clearly melodeath

No, this album is brutaled groove

death metal

Clearly this album is just shitty teen-metal.

Crystal Mountain

Sacred Serenity

I have tried so hard to get into this band. I've tried their last album, this album, and leprosy. I just fucking hate the lead vocalists voice.

Fuck it I'm bored

1. Sacred Serenity
2. Without Judgement
3. Crystal Mountain
4. Zero Tolerance
5. 1000 Eyes
6. Misanthrope
7. Perennial Quest
8. Empty Words
9. Symbolic

Last track is still really good

Do you like any other death metal?

title track that low

Why

It's weird that you found both Leprosy and later albums' vocals lacking since he completely changed his vocal style in between.

For being the second longest track on the album it just doesn't do anything for me. It also suffers from Death syndrome where they switch tempos randomly so much and it just doesn't work well on that song for me.

Fair enough

true. misanthrope is the lone dud on the album, though.

It also suffers from Death syndrome where they switch tempos randomly

that's not a death thing, that's a death metal thing. you just don't like death metal.

No, Death does this particularly often and abruptly without being a tdm band. You need to set up temp changes a bit for them to be effective, otherwise it's just jarring.

The greatest death metal album of all time

Why did you post a picture of a power metal album and not "Ad Nauseam - III"?

dissoshit

best anything

not even the best death album

Poser progressive tourist trash. FUCK you.

If you say this and dont think Human, you are a genuine brainlet.

SBG, Leprosy, or the demos are the only acceptable Death releases.

Back to your general faggot

Human is the best death album

Leprosy is their worst and you are a brainlet contratian

Great riffs but bad songwriting

great music to lift to I like without judgement the best

Based Sacred Serenity enjoyer <3

Maybe 1000 Eyes? It's been a minute since I blasted late Death.
This. There's a video of a guy explaining how a lot of Death songs have a pop-like structure, with a string of riffs, a bridge, and the same string of riffs again, and he says it like it's genius songwriting.

contratian

GOOOOOOOOOOOOD MORNING SAAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Sound of Perseverance is superior.

yeah, like I said: you don't like death metal

nobody listens to death metal for "songwriting"

Misanthrope

same but with In Flames

His non-screaming voice is kinda irritating, I kinda hate listening to his interviews desu
That being said he could scream well

It has to be "1,000 Eyes"

But Chuck did give the best head in metal. David Vincent had his Azagthoth, and everyone in Vader had Doc, but no one made a pink cock erect like Chuck. True, as the AIDS infested his throat it made it hard for him to deep throat, but even as he lay there rotting, stinking of AZT and covered with Kaposi's sarcoma, Chuck would signal with two fingers when a willing donor came into the room. All I can offer in addition to that is the fact that no sex will ever compare to colostomy hole love, especially when the hole is fresh and supple after a well-greased movement.

We will never forget you, Chuck. Every time I hear your name my prostate aches, both for your tender heart-shaped ass and that incredibly thin, probing member we shared many times. It is heartbreaking how many things bring Chuck to mind. The sound of heavy metal. The flavor of Taco Bell food on the road. The scent of semen. The world lost not only a great musician, but a great lover, when Chuck died.

To say Chuck was gay is incorrect. He wasn't gay, he was just open-minded, and he sought anal sex from men, boys, girls and animals alike. Anal was not his favorite. His favorite was the blowjob, and he liked to be held afterwards, with someone stroking his hair and saying, "Chuck you are king of the world."

I will never sell the copy of Leprosy (80 grain vinyl) he left me at our last meeting. It is battered now, and reeks faintly of manpoo, and maybe it does have a few suspicious smears, but it is all I have of him. That and the memories. Those gushing, sticky, illicit, clandestine memories... Oh Chuck I miss you more than I can say.

The greatest death metal album of all time

that's not The Red in the Sky is Ours

it's not screaming, it's growling.

The only good thing At the Gates released is Gardens of Grief.
Anyway, pic related is the best death metal album.

Death is a band where everyone has a completely different ranking of their albums

The greatest death metal album of all time

That's like choosing your favourite shit

Yes.

No

Death is the only death metal band I love, and it's mainly because of the vocals. Usually can't stand the vocals in most death metal bands.

Dan Swano is good too

I didn't get them for a long time, but after giving their albums a few repeated tries I did start to enjoy them a lot. And now that I've heard hundreds upon hundreds of other death metal records, it has only reinforced my positive view of them. The only exception was Symbolic, because it was the only death metal album I thought was very decent the first time I heard it, when I was still new to death metal (I didn't really like any other DM at the time). But my enjoyment of it grew a lot over time as well.

Actual brain damage if you think Leprosy is better than Human...
Reinert was objectively their best drummer, and Di Giorgio was objectively their best bassist. If you think that that line up wasn't their best, or the work they produced wasn't the bands peak, you are an actual retard.

Reinert

better than Hoglan

LMAO

hoglan cant keep up with di giorgio flashiness so the bass takes all the attention from everything else, blame who you want but that is my takeaway whenever i try listening to that album

why is it called death metal?

Just happens to be on the best 2 Death albums

Are you asking why Symbolic is called death metal, or why death metal is called death metal?

Symbolic is a thrash album for all intents and purposes

Try control denied, chuck's post-death band. different vocalist same instrumental vibe as last death albums

hating on slaughter of the soul

anon ..

SYMBOLIC AX

3 guys who played in death + a different vocalist

Same, everyone seems to love them but they just don't click for me

symbolic, empty words, without judgment

Considering the greatest death metal album of all time won't turn 30 until next year, this was a strange post, OP!

Shame we never got a second album

Deicide is the best death metal album

That's not None So Vile

1,000 Eyes
Literally the worst song on the album.
Awful taste.

Yeah idk about best death metal album or even best Death album. Still pretty good.

Empty Words

Crystal Mountain

I'm more of a Individual Though Patterns & The Sound of Perseverance guy.

That's where you're wrong, gents. All phenomenal candidates to your credit.

kronos-cts.jpg - 700x700, 189.28K

I think Leprosy, Spiritual Healing, and Individual Thought Patterns are their best albums. Quality's more consistent in those, IMO

incorrect
incorrect and gay
correct

download.jpg - 220x219, 11.38K

*the real cover art

That's gay power metal, not death metal

You are gay

/thread

Retard

Understandable. The singer is a homosexual so if you're not gay it tends to sounds kind of grating.

The singer is a homosexual

We are talking about Death not Cynic

yeah that lisp of his is hard to take

The greatest death metal album of all time

this piece of gay prog shit

I want reddit to leave.

Go back to your shitty general contrarian faggot

Correct.

Check out his spoken voice. He sounds like a Californian tranny.
He also stole his vocal style from the original Mantas/Death singer Kam Lee.

You've been shilling this album here for 15 years and it really isn't very good.

I assume you're in the band?

It's the most acclaimed brutal death album of all time

According to who? You?

The trouble is that because you're in the band, you're somewhat biased and probably believe that nonsense. To anyone else who hears it, it's extremely generic and boring.

It's the most acclaimed brutal death album of all time

lolno

Death Symbolic

This is like having an indie rock banding and naming yourself Indie

4.01/5 on Rateyourmusic
4.4/5 on Sputnikmusic
89% on MetalArchives

Or having a black metal album called Black Metal
Oh wait

That album sucks my man

only good thing about this album is bobby koelble
also human fucking sucks. just had to drop that in sorry

Actual newbie hours. How can you not know None So Vile? It's one of the most acclaimed death metal albums of all time. And how in the flying fuck is it generic? There's no other album out there that sounds like it. I've listened to hundreds upon hundreds of DM records and I can attest to it. It has one of the most unique and instantly recognizable vocal performances. The drumming on that album is legendary, and is renowned for it's sheer extremity and relentlessness. The guitars and base sound absolutely monstrous. Lurk more before spewing shit takes like these.

the latter

post a better brutal death metal album then, we'll wait

I'm really trying to like it and be respectful because they're like founding fathers of DM, but I can't bring myself to like the vocals and overall music. I'm grateful for Death's contributions because they're highly regarded by musicians in the metal scene, and because they inspired many brutal DM bands which I admire.

None So Vile

nta, I got into death metal some time ago and found that record to be way ahead of its time in 1996, I can see why many would consider it iconic and influential. It's also noteworthy that None So Vile is in B standard tuning, which is pretty rare for the 90s. It's wild and brutal for sure, I would compare it to

Conquering the Throne from Hate Eternal

Kingdoms Disdained from MA, because of the drums, bass, and overall mix/production. MA's energy is different however

a Cannibal Corpse album I can't exactly place

and they're all bands I like. I need to listen to it again. By the way As Gomorrah Burns is also good, probably not as groundbreaking as None so Vile for most people but I appreciate it.
