Gibson chads
Watch this
just get a used line 6 pod
toneport GX, later named Pod studio GX.
toneport GX
sounds fuckin rad man, ill look it up just for the name.
Yeah, that kicks ass. Doubt I could afford it.
Sweet. Thank you, OP.
5150 Iconic 40W 1x12 or 6505+ 60W 1x12
I'm looking to get into guitar. What can you tell me about the Jazzmaster? If anyone has any sound recordings of one that would be awesome too.
What can you tell me about the Jazzmaster
It is a guitar
If anyone has any sound recordings
This is the 95% the sound of the amp and cabinet and 5%(or less) the sound of the guitar.
Get a guitar in your budget that you find attractive, the rest is basically negligible.
There is a wide range in specs between price points. It's Fender's highest fidelity guitar. Very clear and bright. Unforgiving.
youtube is gotta be way more helpful than us
youtu.be
Jesus what a fucking retard
nta but how about a rebuttal if you disagree?
Go with what you can find the cheapest. 20w isn't going to make a huge difference and both are easily enough to get over a drummer.
Very clear and bright. Unforgiving.
I've been seeing that term "bright" alot in regard to this guitar what do you mean by that and how is it unforgiving?
They do have different speakers, the Peavey has a sheffield and the EVH has a EVH Custom Spec'd Celestion
other than that they have all the same features, DI, speaker out, 3 spring reverb (lol) and so on.
There's a used 6505+ nearby for about $600 while the 5150 is about $1000 new, but doesn't have the risk of having worn out or swapped tubes, or any other risks from buying used
I know but i like the real time feed back of a live forum.
Depends what model you get but the O.G.s had 1meg pots, plus a wide-coil pickup. Unforgiving in the sense that every scrape and rattle will be picked up.
I like SGs. Currently I have 1 guitar, an SG Standard. What backup/beater/emergency blunt weapon guitar should I get?
Used market sucks hard here.
Is it necessary to have a backer? I have two guitars of the same type and feel like selling one.
If you only play in your room for yourself, no.
troll post
If your drummer is a little bitch, maybe. It's a metal amp so I'd go for the bigger one.
I like that jag a bunch tbqh
buyers remorse? or you're still gaslighting yourself?
implying it's about price and not style of pickup
based retard
Wow you must have excellent tone since you know so much about it!
Lets hear it.
Just at 40w, it's still pretty fucking loud if it' a tube amp. Like 60 and 40 are working in the same class. You got to get to 100w to really hear a big difference. I don't know. Tube power is weird.
i think the way it works is you have to quadruple the wattage to double the volume, so a 20 watt amp is twice as loud as a 5 watt amp, a 100 watt amp is twice as loud as a 29 watter etcetera
Tube power is weird.
To be fair I've played 30 watts that have struggled with a loud drummer and 50 watts that have been fine so 40 might be OK. The 30 was a combo so maybe it's amount of speakers that made the difference.
yea except you didn't say anything about pickups in the original post you stupid apenigger
yeah so... what else on the electric guitar makes noise?
The most significant thing about the Jazzmaster is the middle pickup phased setting. It's famous for surf. Walk Don't Run, Wipeout, that kind of thing. But otherwise, I think it sounds like most Fenders. There are differences with Fender, it's more subtle.
Where's the middle pickup?
Should I?
I mean the middle setting. That came out wrong.
It's your money
strings
GOAT bassline on one of these.
youtube.com
I wish they'd make this in 24 inch scale
some retard just posted in the old thread lol
It was you.
get a eastwood hooky or schecter hellcat vi
What makes them worth 2-3x the money?
woah, i don't remember the schecter being that expensive. when i was looking they were around $600
the schecter website has it on sale for $999 usd, which is over $1430 cad, which the squier is priced in
regular price they are $1430 usd
crazy, you can buy a real fender one for that price
yes, and the squier is 689 cad or around 480 usd with a flatter fingerboard, a supposedly non-synthetic nut, and otherwise very similar specs, which is why I am interested in it.
could you take a regular strat or tele body and put a bass vi neck on it?
I believe the intonation would be all fucked up because of the bridge position
It's crazy how all of this is so accessible now. Especially the Squier one. It used to be rare to see a single Bass VI in any shop near you.
still no cheap marauder, prodigy, showmaster, swinger or maverick reissues
warmoth does baritone conversion necks for strats thatll get you to 28 5/8ths, not quite 30 but close enough to be able to probably get you the same effect
It's weird they haven't done anything with the Marauder outside of the custom shop. Especially given how popular those Carlos Lopez models were.
I also can't understand why Gibson haven't reissued the EB2D bass yet. All the other shit they put out, but no EB2D reissue??
They did a weird "reissue" 10-12 years ago called the ES335 bass, but it looked different and had the wrong pickups. No pickguard etc.
It's just fucking weird, but at the same time, I wouldn't be able to afford it either way with how Gibson price their shit these days.
I'd more or less have to pay double for the 335 I bought in 2008 if I wanted something equivalent now.
I’ve had one of these for a couple of weeks, it’s pretty good. Neck is a bit chunky in a nice way, pickups are hotter than expected. Trem arm is just kind of shoved in there and doesn’t stay in place and the switches feel shitty but the guitar plays well and sounds good
why the FUCK is this $500?
For that price you could buy a boss katana and a used iphone to run apps with the phrase trainer functionality.
Did you played another Jazzmaster? If so how did they compare? Thinking about getting the J. Mascis one too but the colours are pretty ugly and i could just buy the pick ups and stuff them in a much cheaper vintage modified guitar.
Also why can't Fender just sell some traditional Jaguars or Jazzmasters in normal colours with the original circuits?
Crazy to see this guitar go up $100 over 10 years
What's the benefit of having the truss rod down in the neck pocket like Fender Amercian does rather than in the headstock?
Boomer cargo cult. There's better more accessible places to put that. You're just turning a nut. nb4 red paint affects the toan
Probably just for the cleaner look.
rate my setup
I can now stumble my way through playing and singing 5 different songs. Is it time to get singing lessons? I suck
He's not wrong.
Pickups and amp are 100 percent of an electric guitars sound.
does everything in you're path
name one good reason why I shouldn't buy one of these and sell my collection of onions pedals
One week of owning the goofy Super Sonic and it’s been the only guitar I’ve been playing this week, and it’s really growing on me. There are no tone controls, the front knob controls volume for the bridge and rear knob volume for the neck; tone is basically at 10 at all times which has taken some real getting used to cuz I’m always fiddling with the tone knob. They sound great with some drive but the reverse knobs are really goofy, thinking about modding it for a single volume and tone but idk I’ve been getting used to it. It’s a weird guitar but I’m really enjoying it. Japanese Fender necks always feel so good and this feels no different, it’s a great feeling and playing guitar and the weird reverse offset body doesn’t feel imbalanced like I thought it would.
I like it.
Looks cool.
Can't find one around these parts.
That or a Squier 51.
Strings, pick/nails/fingers and scale length considerably affect the initial output signal of a guitar too.
And by "amp" you hopefully mean the whole (preamp+power amp)+(speakers+cabinet) combo.
It was a Facebook marketplace find, I saw it and assumed it was a Paranormal or Pawn Shop or whatever but then after reading the add it’s an original Vista series so I took a shot in the dark with a trade offer and he was down to trade. I almost bought one of the Pawn Shop ones years ago but decided to wait for an old Japanese one and never thought I’d find one semi locally for a fair deal.
