Make a song in 30 minutes

Open daw and make a song. yes I know its not long enough to make anything good. Do it anyway. Make the best worst 30 minute melody that you have got.

I will post mine in 30 min. Even if i cant make anything. Even if its 1 hihat and nothing else

I shouldn't have tried to make a solo as the intro, I spent too much time on it kek

Sorry, I have an EP to make. I ain't no shit musician that waste his days on a musical board like a baby.

Fuck off already.

oh no, a music thread on a music board

i can't, i have 2 essays due by midnight (3 hours) and I haven't started them yet. let me write them rq and then i'll do it.

It's off beat FUCK

Sounds fine to me. Avant-giardia

I digs it

I love these threads lol, it amazes me to see what you guys can do in 30 minutes, even if you don't think it, you're all (mostly) very talented.
This is really neat! It could be the intro to a sick video game.
Guy with an acoustic guitar, classic. Great songwriting, honestly I can't believe it only took you 25 minutes.
Very interesting stuff, I'm not huge into electronic music or anything like that but I think that this could have potential as part of a longer song.
I love your vocals and lyrics, I'd definitely listen to a full album of this style of music.

Thanks, I used the Doom soundfont so you're not off the mark

It comes from doing it over and over and over. That is the good thing about these threads. Practice. Tin Pan Alley and the Brill building had writers who would go bang out shit 8 hours a day. Work on making something all day. If you do it again and again and again sooner or later you will get a hit. I saw somewhere where Desmond's Child said he got one hit out of every 1000 songs he wrote. Excercises like this are valuable.

Fockin sick. One of the best in the thread

it was not made in 30minutes but my brother sent me the guitar part, and i used it to train my ableton skills

It's like uhhh some folk music or some shit.

Actually it's more like a romantic era take on an arrangement of folk music but whatever my 30 minutes are up so the slightly weird bits will have to stay.

I don't think I "get" it.
Music is pretty groovy but I was ready for the sample to stop well before the end.
Sounds like I took a wrong turn in doom and walked in to a jrpg boss fight.

lmao

I used some effects to try to masquerade the exterior sounds of the recording, the raw sound has sounds of the tv, people talking, etc

What would you even call this (aside from shit that repeats the melody too much because I ran out of time)?

10/10

I downloaded this anons vocaroo to make a little rhythm/melody for some sample chopping practice. No pitch correcting/vocal effects used, just a bit of reverb and delay. I ran out of time so there's loads missing from the ideas I wanted to flesh it out with. I didn't count the sample hunting towards time, which took me way longer than 30mins to get anything I felt like working with and I also did a bit of mixing on certain parts to make some ideas stand out better and keep the practice going. I spent way too long on the bass overall and still couldn't get it to sound right.

Nta but this is cool, I like the idea or remixing other anons tracks

Probably darkwave?

kinda funny, but the loud part isn't schizo enough for my liking

havent really written anything since late 2023, lazyness has me by the balls
i would call it super good anon i love dis

I like the rhythm but that siren sound is weird.

laziness has me by the balls

I work in bursts, I'll make a bunch of stuff in a week and then nothing for a couple months sometimes. I'll often completely switch style after a piece of music is finished, keeps me motivated in a weird way.

I do like the way the clave really cuts through all the synth noise. I made a bunch of music in this synth+real instruments style when I first got a DAW and didn't know what a compressor was or anything. Thought it might be fun to revisit it, but it's hard to make it happen in 30 minutes.
