TT probably added the countermelodies and more voices to what PK wrote. There's always multiple melodies in that album, so that explains that.

Look at it this way, classically trained musicians take YEARS (decades) to master not only technique, but dynamics, rubato, phrasing... On ONE instrument, which is as soft and delicate as they get (piano, violin etc.). And even then most turn out shitty, and all we listen to is the best of the best performers with complete control over their techniques and phrasings.
Do you really think a self-trained half-assed metal musicians playing on extremely distorted toy will achieve even half the dynamics that classically trained musicians achieve? Dynamics in metal is quite frankly a joke.

Problem is, they're all visual representations, how else would you objectively measure rate of change of sound levels? Or even just sound levels? Since there is a disagreement, then we have to address this issue in a different, perhaps scientific manners, right? Or maybe consensus, which can be more biased, but classically trained musicians would agree with me just by listening alone.

Drums are the most dynamic instruments in metal (thus my accented beat argument), so lighly hitting a cymbal is indeed quite different from hitting it with full force (although your example does not hold well since in faster blast beats cymbals are actually very quiet, because of less force). But lightly plucking a distorted guitar is almost exactly the same, more the distortion, less the difference. Palm muting reduces the volume to a degree, relative to full-force chords, but no one uses palm muting for dynamics. Palm muting is used merely to accent the beat (pretty much the only way to accent beats with distorted guitars).
Even still, drums are always compressed as well, lol.
