Paying Extra edition
/gg/ guitar & bass general
$7000 dollars
Who buys these?
nerds
It's boomers, mostly. Nerds don't care about that. They have....nerdy gear. Boomers have the most expendable income and care about the vintage thing far more. They lived through it all. Same with some buying up old cars and only taking them out on Sundays to snap pictures. They couldn't buy them as kids, but as old guys, they can do it.
One thing I'll add though is Fender is smart to NOT just make this their whole market and play up the nostalgia all the time. They make guitars for everyone and try to keep it fresh and non-genre specific. That's the problem with Gibson atm. They play up to nostalgia too much..but how long can that last? Boomers die eventually.
They're trying to make up for that time in the 80s when they realized they were never going to be a rock star and had to feed the mewling brats of their burgeoning family, conceived in the back seat of a Chevy at the drive-thru; so they took that (today) vintage Strat they got for $85 at a hardware store and pawned it for $25 to buy diapers and Spaghetti-Os. Now older, and with disposable income, they want to correct that error; only problem is a true vintage is now tens of thousands, so they buy a new one that's made to look vintage.
conceived in the back seat of a Chevy at the drive-thru
that explains why it always takes so long to get through Burger King
I think all Strats are pretty cool (as long as they're working). And I'm sure these relics are pretty badass. I just want to put my own stamp on things though. I also like guitars that are a little less common. There's less baggage to different designs. I don't have to live up to anything or have some image of the best player of said guitar.
They make faded guitars now?

Speaking of vintage Strats, I don't think I've ever played a 7.25 radius. Is this the only way to do "thumb chords"?
nerds build partscasters
what would kingfisher do indeed
true
No, if you want to thumb low strings you need either big hand or thin neck (and you can probably do it already).
I was imagining a multiscale 13 string or something.
I have pretty big hands (I'm also 6'4" and wiry), but I can't get my thumb to do shit right. Kind of wish I could do those pinky hammer ones with the running bass note.
hammer-ons*
looks awful, not even a realistic relic job

I got you. Yeah, well, at least he had a hit didn't he?
does copper tape much of a difference to single coil noise or does it just stop you picking up radio etc
It's for radio hum, it can reduce single hum but it won't get rid of it.
Cheers, shan't bother then
Is it worth to upgrade the tremolo system for 150 € on my shitty Squier that didn't rven cost me 300?
no
Damn, now that I have an instrument again I am reminded of how it gives a dimension to the music you are listening, it makes you relate more to it.
Currently listening to Rocka Rolla and it gives me even more of an appreciation for Glenn and K.K.
so beautiful bros...
Thinking about dropping this into a CV Jag, not sure if it's worth all the wiring
I love mustangs so much it's unreal
what's the etra knob do?
Separate volume knobs and master tone. Looks like it came from a Jazz Bass.
Love racing lines, they should be more common.
A year ago the schizo was spamming Gibsons on an hourly basis and Calling everyone broke
Xhes now complaining about relicd fender guitars
It was larp all along. Typical.
just boomer bend dude
looks sweet, I'd be willing to pay a little extra for it in red with a white stripe.

What is that finish called?
metallic sherwood green
What should Piper and I learn today bros
Oh. OK, thank you.
Nah I thumb chords on my flatter stuff too. It’s definitely more comfy on the rounder boards tho.
REALLY thinking about picking up a Mustang or Duo Sonic. I want another short scale Fender but don’t want to spend bigger money on a proper Jaguar.
Cat scratch fever

Nah, something new to me. I've been working on some 90's riff's lately because I found my X100

Yeah I think the sonic is the newer version, I think maybe bullets have different size parts and won't take standard sized upgrades but could be wrong
