Are CDs worth buying? I just want to legally rip them to my PC, also I can't trust soulseek fags because they're either all locked or they ripped it shittily.
I think having the physical CD, jewel, and cover Insert would be really nice just to look at afterwards too.

If you're just gonna rip them to your PC then probably not, but if you also have a way of playing them (car, walkman, stereo) then totally

It's cool to own a physical copy of albums you like, but don't go overboard

but if you also have a way of playing them (car, walkman, stereo) then totally

I might just hold off on buying CDs then. I do have a speaker system gifted to me a while ago, but I live with family and the walls are thin, so I rarely ever use it so I don't disturb them.

I could look into a walkman, though. There's a novelty to the Cassette Walkman I have, so I'll probably like the CD one too.

i wouldnt buy a cd unless its hard to find on soulseek and the cd is much cheaper than the vinyl

You can get a walkman for like 20 bucks on amazon. I recommend it! Imo it adds a lot to the music experience to have specifically picked out and album and reserved some time and attention for it

This

I have over 2000 CDs all ripped to my computer and they just sit in a cupboard now.

How do I store CDs to prevent them from deteriorating?

Don't put them in weird environments and you'll be golden. discrot is just an overexaggerated meme in most cases

Depends on how much you enjoy tiny booklets with tiny text.

CDs I bought well over a decade ago are still fine. Yours will be alright.

imo yes. I still want to buy a bunch of stuff. Wish cds were as common as they were in the 90s.

I have CD's that are 30 years old and haven't aged at all.

Vinyl's are cooler to collect but CDs are convenient for they're portability f you want to listen to non compressed music

Don't buy thriftshop junk just to inflate your CD count

Vinyl's are cooler

And so fucking expensive. Holy shit.

I had that issue with Cassettes, most of them I never opened. Thankfully it was only like 5 or 6 ones I bought to inflate my connection.

This. Cds and DVDs will outlive all of us. Don't fall for that retarded shit.

why do people keep saying CD's are cheap right now? new ones are all still $25-$35 like they were 20 years ago.

Most are. It just depends on what you want. Some are falling out of print though. Where are you buying them from?

Aussie?

They mostly mean from ebay or in thrift store bargain bins.
I've seen obscure cds on ebay for $8.00. So it's not expensive if you're looking to buy used.

yep. and shipping price alone from the U.S. makes it undoable.
am checking ebay. some out of prints are cheap. a lot are unreasonably expensive especially for an album that's not highly rated.

The shipping is terrible. I figured eBay having its overseas shipping program might make it a bit better but I feel for you. Hope you can get some good deals, anon.

True, but finding CDs you actually want at the thift store is a joy

It's an amazing feeling. Found an album I had been on the hunt for forever in a dollar bin recently and it was incredible. It truly is the little things in life that get you through.

It's all crappy compilations here

cheers. it is nice when ya find a good bargain. happy hunting for you too mate.

It's almost all crap every time and all crap almost every time, that's why it's so nice to find something good.
Also picrel is in pretty much every goodwill, I don't know why

Store them in an area with lots of sun so the sun can kill the disk-eating bacteria.

If you don't want to store your CDs in the open, microwaving them once every few years does the trick as well

Lot of girls went through their Lilith Fair lesbian phase and got over it quickly. Wonder goes hard though.

OP this is exactly what you will do

i love muh cds phase

buy dozens of cds

use them once or twice, use 1 specific cd many times

start to try and find more and more excuses to use the cds

after a while you get burnt out by trying to convince yourself cds are so much better

rubber band back to using streamingslop

I have done this before. Sometimes the phase is long, sometimes the phase is short. But it will be a money drain nonetheless.
It is financially and mentally not worth it unless you only buy a few CDs of your favorite albums as keepsakes.

just get on RED and OPS, take the interviews

it's always Sarah McLaughlin, Susan Boyle and Santana - Supernatural

Physical copies of music you enjoy is worth having

$25 per physical copy

Yep. Nope. Not for me.

I have around 200 CDs that I bought in the mid 00s that are all in perfect condition and my dad has a wall of CDs first ones he bought in 1991 and they're all in perfect condition too.

Why not

you ever had to move house?

also because a lot of it is junk that nobody wants and you're the sucker holding the bag
